Noobie... I ordered the Marc Jacobs Stella bag in black several days ago... it should be here anyday. I''m DYING to get it here!

And now I''m on a spending freeze. I''ve spent WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY too much $$$ this summer!

I was thinking about a gift for my wife and that bag caught my eye. Although must admit it''s taken me a long time to get my head around that much money for a bag. Diamonds yes ..... bag hmmmmm
 
Haha that''s how I got into handbags because my hubby refuses to buy me any more jewelry but he doesn''t have a problem with buying me handbags. Oh it''s dangerous, trust me!!!!!

The Chanel bag pictured is retailing for AUD$2380.00 over here in Melbourne. I'm a huge fan of pink, and nearly got that bag too ;) but I ended up holding out for the 50th anniversary limited edition of the fire engine red 2.55

I am terrible when it comes to bags - got the bug from my mum! No matter what ppl say abt the LV monogram canvas bags, I still love love love them. Yes, there are heaps of good quality replicas out there, but why pay good money for a replica - at the end of the day, I don't think most people buying LV or other expensive handbags are buying it for the "prestige" attached to them. I, for one, loves how well made they are. It's all in the little details!

I'ld like to think of it as being something I can hand down, like my diamonds

That's one reason why I can never say no to the limited edition bags too - people collect vintage cars, limited edition stamps, rare coins etc etc - I collect bags!

Anyway, back on topic - if you find the LV denim bags I've posted, do share where u found them!! It's an addiction, I tell ya, I NEED one of those little babies

That is a gorgeous bag Flower!!! Jade thanks for posting the price of that pink Chanel bag. It is not as bad as I thought especially given the exchange rate to American dollars. By the way we spent several days in Melbourne during a trip to Australia a couple of years ago and we absolutely loved it! As for you Noobie get over that designer handbag price phobia and buy that beautiful Marc Jacobs bag for your wife! We are off to Vegas today so I will update you guys when I get back. I intend to have fun shopping!!!
 
OK, having no experience with these things, would one assume that it''s fake if it''s sold a sizable discount?

How do you tell if it is real? I see so many on ebay "guaranteed authentic"

OMG, Kaleigh, I love those new jean bags. I saw them for the first time a couple of months ago. Unfortuantely, my husband would totally flip if I bought one. My LV Speedy will have to do. I know it''s not everyone''s cup of tea, but I love it. It was my 40th birthday gift to MYSELF!!!

I got lucky, my daughter's manager left her store to head up the LV boutique at Saks. I put my name on the waiting list and thought cool, I'll get it this fall if I'm lucky. She called a couple weeks later saying it was in. I think she did me a favor, but will never know.
 
I love LV. I have a big ol'' bright orange Epi that I''ve been using lately.

But if I was in the market, I''d invest in a Bottega Veneta, a Tanner Krolle or a Tod''s; they''re just as classic and much less commonplace.
 
A big bright orange epi sounds so fabulous!!!! I'm not brave and boring...but if I had the courage, WOW!

You gals prompted me to get my big Louis out and wear it..I was looking at the canvas and it's like brand new. I don't think anything will ever make it look worn. The leather is worn which is a good thing...can use a cleaning, but definitely a well made bag!

I'm really in love with the Tod's new D bag, grande. Siiigggghh.
 
Hi handbag fans, we just got back from our little excursion to Vegas! The new Wynn Hotel is terrific and as Maxine said the jewelry eye candy in the stores there is incredible. How about a 30 carat emerald cut diamond at Graff - wow!!! I had so much fun shopping for bags and I looked at purses from Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Bottega Veneta (?), Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci. I finally decided on one of Gucci''s fall 2005 collection hobo bags in their new logo-ed leather with a matching wallet of course. The feel of the leather is fabulous and the size and shape suited me perfectly. So many wonderful bags out there it was really hard to choose! Canukgal''s pretty new Gucci bag inspired my choice although hers is suede and the style is somewhat different.

Oh and do you guys think I should save this for fall or is it okay to carry dark brown leather in summer???

I love my Marc Jacobs Stella bag. It is a bit heavy but the hardward is great and it has so many compartments. It is my favorite black bag and I find it much more practical than my Birkin--at a fraction of the price.
I also have a few great skin bags--alligator, lizard and ostrich and they wear well--have had some for years.
I really do not like the canvas insignia bags such as Gucci , Prada, Fendi and Louis Vuiton. They are very common and since they are not leather, the good copies look great--if you want a fake. These bags are so common in NYC and the vendors sell them on the street. It is hard to tell the difference at a glance. The same is true of the Hermes Birkin bag.

Kaleigh you were lucky to get your hands on one of those adorable LV denim bags as they were special order only at the Louis Vuitton boutique in Vegas. Chanel has a great new quilted tote in brown with a patent leather CC logo and orange interior. I loved the leather on the Marc Jacobs bags, but they either seemed bigger or smaller than what I was looking for. Prada didn''t have anything new that grabbed me. I really like the LV Alma bag in the Epi red leather, but I really wanted a shoulder bag this time.

The prices here are great--a lot less than I recently paid for my Stella bag and i thought I got a good deal. Has nayone bought from them and are they authentic?

You are a girl after my own heart! My hubby actually choose this bag (he loved it) and the larger purple square style, but I thought it was too large for me--that is I never wear largish bags and feel even my VL Speedy is just bordering toooooo big (yes, I am weird). I also wanted a shoulder bag this time, and hence did not get the red epi, but I feelI will soon hhheeeeeheheheaaaaaa

Unfortunatley I could not get the matching suede wallet, but just might get the one you did since the trim matches at any rate. Great choice! And I concur that Prada did not rock my world this season either.......

heeehhheee Sundial My sister was passing thru town (today) and picked up my fairly new LV Speedy and asked if I wanted to get "rid" of it...we made a "deal" and so that red epi may be at home here sooner than I thought.........

See those Louis Vuittons always have value to someone and now you can get your red Epi that much sooner Sharon. Way to go! Moremoremore I am glad you got your hoops. I hate to add to your frustration but I couldn''t find that bag in black fabric on the Gucci website. Gorgeous handbag though!
