Have you always instantly liked your new ring? Or did some have to grow on you?

Where to wear this fabulous ring? Honey, put your bling on and sit down to dinner with your wonderful husband! I don't care if you get McDonald's carry out, dressing for dinner makes a girl just feel good.

I always but on my bling for dinner, even if I'm wearing my painting clothes from the studio or sweatpants, etc. I brush my hair, put on lipstick and put on my bling. It does wonders for my mental well being. :)

I LOVE this attitude!!!!!!! Thank you for the inspiration

Yada here to weigh in, thanks @nala ;-)

I love the look of this ring, it is very much a statement piece, looks well made and looks great on you as well.

Maybe think about the possibility that the novelty may wear off and you find yourself not finding it as wearable, only you know if this is right for you in the long run.

Think about whether you would have a hard time sending it back, the feelings associated with parting with a piece can be helpful in deciding whether to keep it or not.

Good ideas! Thank you :)

i remember years ago reading a book by Nena Garcia (who i only knew as one of the judges on project runway) and she said
always dress like you are going to someplace better afterwards

Have you decided it yet?

I understand how you feel. When in doubt, I generally make a mental list of pros and cons for the piece. It’s a good way to help me make the decision. Good luck.

For what it‘s worth I think this ring looks absolutely beautiful on your hand. I prefer it on the middle finger though.

Gorgeous on you. :kiss2:

As for me, either I love the ring right away or I am never going to love it. But that is me.
If there is anything I don't like about it what happens is over time it gets magnified and I start disliking it even more.
But that is my personal reaction. We are all different. For some it takes time to grow on us.

With jewelry, if I don't love it right away, it usually won't "grow on me".

I think your ring is fabulous. Does it fit your pointer finger? I'm curious how it would look there. I do see that if it was a tad smaller that it would be easier to wear. Don't feel bad if you need to return it. They wouldn't have a return policy if they didn't allow returns.

I like the way you think:mrgreen2:

It's a gorgeous ring. It is a fabulous statement ring, and very tasteful, too.
Perhaps down the line, you could have the black onyx changed out for lapis, turquoise, etc.

I absolutely love this ring -- so much so that I've saved it in my "Someday... " folder! That halo design -- :kiss2: And I think it really looks great on you!

To answer your question about loving something right off the bat, I've definitely had some that I DIDN'T love immediately... and never CAME to love. But I've had some that DID grow on me. When I first got Uni I thought maybe it was too "flat," especially where the side traps didn't stick up out of the band (I had more of a three stone ring vision in my head rather than having them inset). But now, I wouldn't change a thing! For Sunshine, I was sad in the beginning it wasn't bigger overall (maybe I should have done a halo instead of just a bezel), but now I appreciate that it ISN'T over the top and wear it when I don't want to be so flashy but still have something nice on. So I guess what that taught me is there is a time and place for EVERY piece.

Whatever you decide, you have really lovely hands and whatever you put on will look great!

Thank you for making my morning with your kind and thoughtful perspectives!

I’ve decided that I love the ring and was thrown by the need for some prongs to be repaired - but it IS an antique after all. I also felt frivolous but as nala pointed out- jewelry IS frivolous, I might as well lean into it and enjoy it!

I’ve got some more days to solidify my decision. But thanks, PSers, for helping me get my head on straight! I’m going through kind of a challenging time in my life and it can make it hard for me to know anything.

This is an amazing ring and I love it. But I love onyx and platinum together. THey work. Great find.

I know from personal experience, if something’s bugging me about a piece it will always bug me. However, the ring is a beautiful statement piece!

So, there are a few separate things going on here?

* Worry or guilt about keeping it, since your financial circumstances have changed from what they were when you ordered the ring.

* Worry or guilt about sending it back, since you feel like you already asked for a lot with your questions before purchase so it might be unfair to the vendor.

* Not being sure if you like it enough to keep it or not, aside from the two "opposing" factors above.

As far as the ring itself, my feelings are mixed tbh. To me, the big expanse of black stone seems like something should be added to it, diamonds set into it or a metal cameo type silhouette place on top or... a little something more. But if you wanted to do that, I don't know what it would cost or if such a modification would be considered appropriate since it's an antique piece.

I could also see it as-is though, as just a kind of cool, bold, dress up or dress down statement piece, though it wouldn't be quite my style personally, nor would the extra large size of it.

$1,000 for it sounds like a good buy to me. If you ever decided to sell it in the future, I wouldn't be surprised if you could get that much back, or at least most of it. On the other hand, you could also probably find a somewhat similar looking ring set in silver for a lot less, if budget is a main consideration now.

I have had jewelry grow on me. I recall a gemstone ring and a strand of pearls in particular. With both of them, it was because the lighting conditions I first opened the packages under didn't show them very well (indoors at night). But then the colors lit up like magic under daylight and I changed my mind.

Please let us know what you decide. :)

This is me 10000%. I have never experienced a piece growing on me. But I know that for others it's different.

You said you love the style. And it's a fabulous piece, it would be hard to find the equivalent. I love it on your hand, bold and also symbolic for you.
FWIW, I bought a .72 U-V oval a few years ago and it looked great set in a repurposed ring, but I was ashamed, I thought, you can't even buy a nice high color diamond. Loser. Now I love the darn thing, it sparkles like crazy and has no visible bow-tie. I had a "Are you stupid or what? This is beautiful" moment.
I haven't really loved anything I have until weeks, months or years later, but now I wouldn't part with anything. We're all different, I guess.
