are you trying to be funny? I guess it sounds a little harsh considering a people are losing their jobs here and we are in a recession. If I am misunderstanding then forgive me.

'I guess everyone is out shopping'..sounds harsh?? WOW..sorry..just trying to add a bit of humour..but it seems almost impossible around here lately!! I think I will refrain from posting on this site..period! It seems no matter what I say ..It offends someone in some way! I'm sorry so many people are losing their jobs, and are suffering this holiday season..but not ALL of us are. Some of us may still like to keep the Christmas spirit alive, and not be reminded about the state of the economy, every single day!! Or perhaps we can all use a little humour and a chuckle from time to time, to help us forget about the economy, at least until the holidays are over!
Merry Christmas!
In isolation, I did not find your original statement harsh. However, you have made repeated references to the US as a "bargain" bin of sorts. That is insensitive. As for Skippy's question to you, she did qualify it with an apology.

Yes, a bit.

Yes we have. We are spending a lot less. And most gifts for the kids will be purchased after Christmas. Their idea.

That''s so good you can wait until after Christmas to shop! I''d love to do that, but even at age 8, my older son still believes in Santa and he still is super excited about his stocking and gifts under the tree. He just started asking if Santa is real and I had to dance around the answer to that. Many of the kids in his class are saying that the parents are buying gifts and pretending it''s Santa who brought them. lol Now him and his brother are also questioning the existance of the Easter Bunny!
They are 20 and 18. They want to wait to get the bargains. I will have their stockings done, and will be buying some suprises for them. But they like picking out what they want, and they believe the bargains will be huge after christmas. Again, not my choice it''s theirs. They are very mature. I could learn a thing or two from them.

Penn, she is 13 months. Congrats on surviving the first 6 months! I think the next 6 months are so much easier than the first. Plus with twins I am SURE it is much easier now.

Thanks, it was pretty hard there for a while, but it has gotten loads better! LOADS! Tessa is such a doll.

I was planning to cut back on the amount of money we spend on gifts, but I am not sure if we actually will. We haven''t done any X''mas shopping except for two toys that we got 50% off on. We still spent $40 on each, same as amount we spent for the kids last year, but it''s a saving for the items. With all the sales going on now, I suspect that we will end up spending the same amount for better gifts.

I don''t think we''ll get DD anything because she doesn''t understand yet. I am sure she''ll get gifts from her aunts and uncles.

We bought gifts for my family while we were on our honeymoon this summer. If we hadn''t done that, we''d definitely be cutting back more. My husband lost his job over a month ago, and without one in sight, it''s hard for us right now. My husband''s family is large, and everyone gets one gift for just one person (we draw names). I''ll probably bake cookies and give them to the person I have. My sister and I decided that we''re not going to exchange gifts to each other or our husbands this year. We have a family vacation to Key West coming up, so that will be like everyone''s gift to one another. That was planned long before my husband lost his job.

Merry Christmas!

I think its a bit difficult for people to just ''forget about the economy'' Beau. A lot of us are facing difficult times. You are lucky that your husband is fine in his job. Mine isn''t and that makes it kind of hard getting excited for christmas knowing he won''t have a job in March. We haven''t spent that much on our 5 children. We have put a lot of thought into what we have got them though. Hopefully it will feel special on the day.

I don''t think you should leave over this. I would like to see you temper your comments with a bit of kindness and consideration for how other people might feel reading them though. I like a laugh just as much as you, but sometimes the joke isn''t funny.
