Happy Tuesday kids!

Curby, I have every confidence that if you get the biz taxes done the first year you and do them yourself going forward. And I'll help you as much as I can if you get stuck. As for being a chore to move... I'm pretty good at minimal stuff, and I refuse to get a storage locker, which is what a lot of city dwellers do when they start to outgrow their spaces, but it would still indeed be a chore!

Hi Sharon! :wavey:

So my car is at the tire place... The steering wheel has started vibrating between 65 and 80 MPH. Based on all the blogs it is likely just in need of a tire rebalancing. Fingers crossed because that's a $72 fix, but everything else is more $$$... ugh.

Sitting on a live webinar right now for my CPA continuing education. The host is a slow talker and it's damn near torture to listen to her drone on about a topic I don't care about anyway.

And in weather news: It's snowing! Yes, March 13, and it looks like someone shook up a giant snow globe outside. God bless Chicago in the spring!

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, I did make an appointment with the CPA who did our taxes in 2015. She can't see me until April 10. Her assistant assured me they could get my taxes done and submitted in time. I guess they are due on April 17 this year. Thanks for helping me if I run in to a problem or question.
Good idea to resist getting a storage unit; it's just more stuff to collect and eventually move or get rid of someday.
I hope your car just needs the tires balanced. Vibrating steering wheel cost me way more than $72 on one of my A6 but then you know me and curbs.
Joy to listening to a boring topic especially by a slow talker.
Oh no for snow showing up today. We may get a storm Thursday night in to Friday.

The local police department continues cracking down on speeders. I saw 4 people pulled over coming home last night; 2 this morning and my friend that lives north of us sent me a text about 4:30 warning me she saw 2 people pulled over on the road I drive home on every day. I used my driver's assist coming home to keep myself from speeding.

I made my last mini pizza for supper tonight. I'm out of other things to cook so does that mean I have to go shopping or eat out on the way home?

Take care.

Happy Wednesday kids!

Curby, I'm glad you're going to sit down with a CPA! And yes, taxes are due April 17 this year due to the 15th being on a weekend and the 16th is a holiday.

My car fortunately only required tire rebalancing, and they didn't even charge me a dime! They said it was under warranty. WHAT warranty I have no idea... but I got the hell out of there before they could change their minds, LOL.

So..... I'm thinking I might need another 911... Maybe not a new one this time because having a new 911 is a high stress situation for me (door dings, so I'd park a zillion miles away from where I was going, always worried about it, have to part it outside at this point, etc.) but one a little older with still low(ish) mileage would be ok... Hmmm... :cheeky:

Hey and hey you Sharon!!

What a fun day today. NOT. Yesterday, I got the sensation something was going on in my left ear and my right ear. My ENT has a strict no Q-Tip rule, but eventually, earwax builds up. When I got up this morning, I couldn't hear out of my left ear and my right ear sounded like a blown speaker in a cheap car system. I was lucky to get into my ENT at 11 this morning and it took two hours and much pain to get my ears cleaned. Then over the last couple weeks, I've noticed when I chew, one of my teeth hurt, so this afternoon I had a dental appointment. Fortunately, my dentist, who is a Prosthodontist, was able to determine I don't need a root canal because the root somehow has grown past the bone into my nasal cavity and he feels the pain was caused by the cold I had in February. Turns out I had the same thing happen with this tooth like 3 years ago. At least I don't need a root canal.......at the moment.

I can honestly say I'm looking forward to a work day tomorrow.

DeeJay, I have a visual in my head of your house within a house. I'm guessing you'll be getting a storage unit soon, or selling off things. And yes, Sir Charlie really will be that age, but no one on the planet would know it by looking at him. He had his PSA done last week and it's lower than most teen boys. A 911, btw, would be uber fun. But if'n you get one, remember they go fast and with your two hour drive each day, you might be ripe for speeding tickets.

Marcy, that's a pretty sunrise. I hate getting up in the dark, so daylight saving time and me are not good friends. The FL Legislature voted a couple weeks ago to no longer fall back and keep daylight saving time year round. I'm not fond of this idea. I don't like changing time every 6 months, but unless the rest of the country also stops changing, it will put FL at odds with the rest of the country 6 months out of every year. When it's 6 PM here, it will 5 PM in every state in the eastern time zone. And it will make us 4 hours apart from the west coast. TV will be really messed up. Shows that should start at 8 PM will start at 9 PM. SNL won't start until 12:30 AM. To say I'm not really onboard with this is an understatement.

OK, enough rambling for the night. I hope you had a better day than I did.

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, I think you should get another 911. :appl:I vote yet.

Woo hoo to your tires being under warranty; I'd be saying okaythanksgoodbye while I'm running out the door. Suckers!

I will be patient and go to the CPA next month. Next year I am nagging Marty more frequently to get his info earlier. Between him being gone every other week then busy when he's home I can't get him to remember minor details like email me a spreadsheet.

Rod, wow that sucks about your ears and your tooth. I hope you are feeling way better. i wish they'd either quit switching to DST or just leave it alone. My in-laws are in Arizona and they don't change so sometimes they are MT and sometimes they are PT. It's a pain to keep straight. That would mess up the TV schedule for sure. At one time I had locals in all time zones and it was great I could watch stuff early or catch them later. Of course now with DVR I can watch them anytime. I hope your day tomorrow is way better.

The highlight of my day was getting my dirty car washed. I know it may rain or snow tomorrow night but it will be clean for one day.

Speaking of speedy tickets I keep driving the speed limit. Today was the first time in days I didn't see anyone pulled over on the way to work or coming home. I still won't push my luck tomorrow.

It was very nice here today. Almost 60. I left my coat in the car.
Take care.

Happy Thursday kids!

Rod, that's a total bummer about your tooth and ears! But it sounds like you're in good hands now. Ugh though. And don't worry, much of that two hour commute (especially in the mornings) is spent going at a speed far to slow for any tickets to be issued.

Curby, LOL on okaythanksgoodbye! That's pretty much what I did! I mentioned it to one of my neighbors and he said that he's had stuff done there too that they haven't charged him for. I guess that's how you build loyalty in a business, right?

Last night I took a client to see three things and then I came home and tried to make a dent in all the stuff in my house. I worked for about three hours and I swear the pile isn't much smaller than when I started. WTF. Today I am committed to getting it all dealt with in some way. Not sure what that way Ill be though... ! I need to return some things as Costco, and then I'm going to dinner with my best friend, so there will be wine involved. And steak. But definitely wine!

Hi Kids,

Rod, I hope you are feeling better today.

Dee Jay, a local tire store does a lot of things free here too. It's Big O tires. It is a good way to build a loyal customer base. Wednesday's is ladies day and they do all sorts of things for ladies for no charge.

I hate that when you work on something for hours and it doesn't look like you made a dent in it. Did you find places to hide things today? Marty keeps going up and down in clothing size from his building and whatever the other side is called so he tosses clothes on his dresser then it started showing up on mine. I finally put everything in some drawers in my dresser. I am starting to run out of places to hide things here though so I'll have to eventually clean things out.

How was dinner with your friend? Steak and wine does sound delicious. I had some cheese raviolis, a french roll and some raw veggies.

It's been raining here since about 4. My car was clean for less than 24 hours.

Marty's plane is taking off about 90 minutes late. I hope the roads aren't icy for him getting home tonight. Colorado is warm enough the roads should be mostly wet but once he hits the state line he'll probably be hitting snow.

Corporate came up today and gave us a thank you day. They greeted us at the gate with burritos. The upper management went around and said hi to people and said thank you. Management had a meeting with them at noon that was a total Q&A nothing more. They had treats and prize drawings at 3 this afternoon. Of course we can hand out appraisals starting next week so any good will they gained today will be gone in a flash. They all wanted me to say hi to Marty; it's nice they always ask about him.

Tomorrow is Friday. Woo hoo!

Happy Friday kids!

Curby, I think the weather you had yesterday is coming this way... we've got a winter storm advisory through tomorrow morning. Is it spring yet?! Dinner was good, but not great. I seriously can't figure out why we keep going to this restaurant, but my friend gets a gift certificate for it every year from someone, so I guess that's my answer, LOL.

I made *some* headway with the sheets/towels situation yesterday, but not totally... Today though, that is on the list! As well as the trip to Costco that never happened... and maybe the grocery store too...

Tomorrow I'm meeting TR's kids. Terrifying... I'm actually going up really early in the morning before they get out of bed because he has to go somewhere for the day. I think it's better that I get to meet and interact with them without him there because otherwise there are just too many things to have to contend with at once. So come tomorrow morning I'm being presented as The Babysitter. Not sure how we'll make the transition from being The Babysitter to The Girlfriend, but I guess I should see how tomorrow goes and make sure that transition is ever going to happen, LOL. I mean, if they hate me, or if the house gets burned down or something it's probably a moot point!

Alright, off to tackle the day!

Hi Kids! Happy Weekend!

Dee Jay, I am sorry we didn't get all of the snow here and that storm kept some of the white stuff for you. We had about 5" on the ground this morning. It was just slushy though; not icy.
That is too bad that restaurant is only adequate. Hopefully the wine was good though.
I am glad you made some headway on sheets and towels. I threw out some sheets and towels recently and need to venture on to my sweaters next.
Good luck meeting TR's kids. LOL to making sure they don't hate you or you burn the house down. You'd be a fun "babysitter". How old are the kids again?

We had a big power outage in town today. The backup generators kicked on at work but of course we don't have that luxury at home. I told Marty to be sure and go turn the crock pot back on or the roast for supper is going to be cold and rare.

We had our astronomy meeting tonight. It was a very small group tonight but they seemed to enjoy it. I am so glad we moved our meeting to a block away; it's so darned convenient.

We are getting the house cleaned tomorrow and I have a stack of laundry to do. Marty has a conference call for work at 10 am and then is meeting with his AF trainee in the afternoon.

Have a fabulous weekend.

Hi all! I am coming back to you as a recovering workaholic. I can’t even begin to tell you what kind of hours I put in over the last few years. Evenings, weekends, holidays and at a frenetic pace. I carried 8 weeks of vacation into 2018, I got paid a lump sum for 4 weeks of comp time, and I lost some time I couldn’t carry over. At the insistence of Matt, my family, my doctor, my boss, my coworkers, and my staff, I started forcing myself, beginning in January, to work no more than 45 hours a week. I’m trying not to let the piles of work building up get to me. I had a massive panic attack on the first day back in the new year and I decided maybe I should listen to everyone. So now I have all this free time in the evening, which is pretty awesome. I do crazy things like read, crochet, watch Netflix, cook real dinners and hang out with Matt and the pets. Pretty sweet! I can’t wait until it gets warm and I can take Lily to the park for walks and breathe fresh air, and feel sun on my skin. I cannot wait. In the meantime, I decided to pull a dumb move and break my wrist again. Today I graduated from a splint to a compression sleeve. And in an even dumber move, I forced my rings off when my fingers were swollen and caused a soft tissue injury at the knuckle. I don’t know if I’ll ever get my rings back on! I told Matt that it was okay. I just need to buy a bigger stone to match my bigger finger.

Marcy-are you still loving your Porsche? I see Marty got a ticket. I have to be careful in the mornings because there is a stretch of road that goes from 50 (I’m going 59) to 40 as you’re going down a hill and around a curve. There is a spot they like to sit and nab people. I just have to behave for a little stretch, then I can get on the interstate and punch it! I’ve had my BMW for 2 years and I love it, but I’m already starting to research new cars. I can’t help myself. I’m awful!

Dee*jay-good luck with the kids! We don’t have kids either, and I keep telling Matt’s youth group that I don’t like kids and they had better behave around me because one little thing and they’re not welcome at my house anymore. I’m only half kidding! When I’m not around, they tell Matt that I really do like them. They’re ages 13-18. And I’m all for you getting another 911. Are you thinking about it?

Rod-I’m sorry you’re feeling so lousy. I hope you’re better soon. It’s an awesome idea to take a fabulous trip for a milestone birthday. Happy birthday to Charlie! I have a good friend who bought a vacation beach house on Sanibel Island that she plans to retire to one day. She keeps inviting us to come visit, and we are considering chartering a private plane with other friends. It’s a long trip from WV! We’re visiting her at her lake house on Deep Creek Lake in Maryland next weekend, which is always wonderfully relaxing.

Have a wonderful and safe St Patrick’s Day!

DeeGee, I'm glad to see you. Yay for finally taking time for yourself. Mental health is greatly overlooked. Sorry to see you broke your wrist. Keep taking care of yourself and again, nice to see you!

DeeJay, I hope meeting the kids goes well for you. Just be yourself, which is a mighty nice thing to begin with and I'm sure they'll like you a lot.

Marcy, power outage and cold aren't fun friends, right? Every other Friday is our cleaning lady day. I always look forward to coming home to a really clean house. We don't wear shoes at home (yes, we're "those people" who ask guests to remove their shoes) and I hate walking on the floors with bare feet if they're not clean.

So, to add to my health woes, I had mentioned the UTI last week. They treated me with an antibiotic for a bug I didn't have, which didn't become known until the culture was back. So I'm now on a different antibiotic when I felt the symptoms return yesterday. At least all I had to do was call the Urologist and they called in a script for me. I'm feeling better this morning.

We're going to go to see the new movie Love, Simon today. It's a coming of age movie about a high school age boy coming to terms with being gay. It's gotten great reviews and since I haven't felt so well, a movie is the perfect activity for a Saturday afternoon. We'll likely just pick up take out Chinese from our favorite take out place for dinner. Otherwise, it's a stunningly beautiful day down here. They say the temps will hit the mid 70's with blue skies and low humidity.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Hi Kids!

Deegee, it’s good to hear from you. I’ve been wondering how you are doing. Oh no to breaking your wrist and injuring your ring finger. Wishing you a speedy recovery on both. Welcome back to a normal life. When I quit teaching I hardly knew what to do with spare time. It is an adjustment. I am still loving my Porsche. I have a spot going to work as well that goes from 50 to 40 when you are going downhill and yes they often are hanging out there too. I don’t want a speedy ticket but I do like to drive fast. There is nothing wrong with car shopping. I totally chucked about telling kids they better behave or they aren’t welcome anymore; that is me as well. I am only half kidding. I am too used to not having kids around. Marty is messy enough. Chartering and plane to fly to a private island sounds like a episode of the rich and famous. That sounds fabulous. Have fun in Maryland.

Rod, yes it is nice to come home to a clean house. She was in a hurry today and did everything in 3 hours instead of 4. I can’t say I see anything was missed which of course makes me wonder why can’t she clean in 3 hours all the time? I am sure there are little extra things she passed on and it’s not like our house gets filthy in 2 weeks. I am the opposite on wearing shoes; I am always cold so I want shoes and socks on anyway and I worry about slipping on the wooden floors if I am just wearing socks. I completely understand if you are walking around barefoot you’d want a clean floor. Sorry your first round of antibiotics wasn’t effective for what you have; I am glad you are feeling better today. It sounds like you have a great day planned. A good movie and gorgeous weather. Enjoy!

Dee Jay, I am so anxious / curious how your babysitting is going I seriously thought of texting you. I resisted though. I don’t see how the kids wouldn’t like you.

We went for breakfast after the cleaning lady got here. Marty had a conference call for work at 10 and is out working with the air force guy he is training right now.

I have started my laundry and dialed in to do some work this morning. I am just watching golf and hopefully Marty will eat leftovers so my kitchen is clean for a day. I want to cry every time he fries bacon the day after we get the house cleaned. Yes, I clean it up but still.

Take care.
Curby / Marcy

Happy Sunday kids!

Deegee!!! Hello and welcome back! Good for you for taking control of your work and regaining your life! Rut to about your wrist... Take care of yourself! And LOL on the kids. I confess I feel the same way about some of them... shhh... don't tell on me!

Curby, you should have texted me! I only had minor panic once things got rolling, and we all managed to survive the experience. It was an action packed day to be sure though, and I was totally worn out (mentally and physically!) at the end. The boys are 8 and 11 (one just had a birthday last week, I keep thinking he's still 10) and they are Full Of Energy!

Rod, I'm glad you're on the right antibiotic now and that you're starting to feel better. I love Chinese food but we don't have any good take out/delivery near me, which is a bummer. Some cashew chicken sounds good every now and then but I have nowhere to get it.

Yesterday after the babysitting adventure I returned some things to four stores and then went to a friend's house in a different suburb for a St. Patty's Day party. I thought at first I was going to stay the night, but ended up coming home around eleven. Today I'm supposed to pick a client up and go around to some open houses. We'll see what condition she's in after yesterday because there was some big thing she had signed up for that commenced with drinking at 7 am, LOL.

OK, off to make another cup of coffee and get the day under way!

So the movie was wonderful. I doubt you all want to see Love, Simon, but for us, it was a remarkable movie. Kids today, especially those in the closet are so lucky compared to when we were kids. The theater was full of families seeing this movie, which I also found remarkable. I imagined that the sons there with their mom and/or dad was because they had similar experiences. Anyway, it was a great movie.

We went to Starbucks afterwards and sat outside under picture perfect blue skies with no humidity. This time of year can be so beautiful in Tampa. We wound up going to a little diner that Guy Fiero once filmed a Diners, Drive Inns and Dives for fried chicken. I know fried foods aren't great for you, but every now and then, I just want some fried chicken and this chicken is pretty fantastic. To make up for it, we decided to have Caesar Salad with homemade Caesar dressing (found a simple, but fantastic recipe) and shrimp for dinner. That was it. Just the salad.

DeeJay, I'm glad meeting the kids went well. I'm sure they were just as anxious about meeting you as you were of meeting them. I hope the showings went well today.

Marcy, we don't fry bacon anymore. We bake it on a raised sheet. The bacon comes out perfectly crispy and the grease is all below the bacon. BTW, on not wearing shoes. If it's cold, I wear slippers that have never been worn outside.

Sigh, I'm not sure I'm ready to start a new work week, but then what choice do I have, right?

Hope you've had a great Sunday.

Hi Kids,

Dee Jay, it sounds like you survived the day with the boys. Woo hoo! Yes, boys that age are very, very busy or scarily quiet. I can see how chasing them around all day would be tiring. Was your friend doing okay today after starting to celebrate at 7 am yesterday? That can make for a very long day. I remember in college I volunteered my car to be the moving part of a float for the homecoming parade. So a friend and I had to get in the car at 6 am so the car could be decorated. We had lots of beer with us which of course turned out to be a bad idea because you only rent beer; it doesn't stay with you for long.

We have another snow storm coming tonight. I really wanted to see the thin crescent moon near Venus and Mercury at sunset; that's not going to happen. I got a ton of chores done today. I also had to dial in to work for a few hours again. The only thing I have left to do is get Marty to sign a check so I can get it deposited. Then I can goof off the rest of the day. What's left of it.

We had burgers cooked on the grill for lunch with some oven fries. I think I'll have a toasted English muffin with PB on it for supper.

I am not looking forward to work at all this week. It looks like we can hand out appraisals finally. No one is going to be happy.

Have a great evening.
Curby / Marcy

Rod, we were posting at the same time. Glad to hear you enjoyed the movie. Your weather does sound picture perfect. We are getting some of that white stuff you don't like tonight. Boo. I agree with you; sometimes fried chicken just calls your name. I bet that place has awesome chicken. If I crack and eat chicken I get Chick Filet nuggets or chicken parm at Olive Garden. I try not to indulge often though since it doesn't agree with me. Bacon in the oven is great but so far I'm losing that battle.

Marcy, so sorry to see another snow storm is headed your way. I'd forgotten how many months of winter you get out there. I would go crazy living there, yes I would! If you can't train Marty to oven bake bacon, maybe you can get him a Microwave bacon pan?

Hi Kids!

Rod, our storm wasn't bad. The only road that was icy this morning is the one out in the country on the way to work. It's all melted now. Training Marty - all I have to say to that is . I am sure he'd say the exact same thing about me.

Not much new with me. Most people were grumpy at work; I chose not to conform to their waste of a good day.

I had leftovers for supper and followed that with a bit of ice cream. Ben and Jerry's had a cheesecake, cookies and cream and chocolate mix. It's quite tasty. It's rich enough a few bites are enough.

I've had annoying popups on my iPads so Apple community recommended clearing out all history in my browser. I don't know if that got rid of those annoying popups but my browser is definitely quicker.

1 day done, 4 more to go. Sweet.
Take care.
Marcy

Marcy, you forget I'm one of the top contributors on Apple Support Communities. I hang out more on the iPhone forum these days, but don't ever hesitate to let me know you've got an issue and I'll help you. Most of our friends call me their Apple Guy. Yes, clearing your Safari website content and cookies should get rid of the popups.

I'm glad the snow wasn't much of a big deal. A front is going to come through tomorrow with the threat of heavy storms and then much cooler air. There's going to be another N'oreaster up north starting tomorrow. It's been a very odd winter for sure.

My boss was out sick today with Pink Eye, plus two others were out and I can tell you no one did much of anything unsupervised. I honestly can't get used to the time change. I don't want to go to bed when I should and I truly don't want to get up when I have to. Everyone was just pretty cranky all day.

I'm still not feeling that well. If I'm not better in a couple days, I'll have to go back and see the urologist:(sad

OK.....heading to bed for much needed rest.

Happy First Day of Spring Kids!

Rod, my "adopted" mom and dad make a whole bunch of bacon on a rack in the oven and then then freeze it so they have it easily to make breakfast sandwiches or whatever. I thought they were crazy at first, but then the CB started doing it and it's a great system!

Curby, how far are you from Jackson Hole? My best traveling girlfriend and I just booked a trip for this Thursday through Sunday. Would be fabulous to see you if you're close enough!!! Did people get mad about their appraisals? I'm sure there will be lots of babysitting over those... you poor thing.

Last night I went up to TR's. He wasn't home yet so I let the dogs out, changed clothes, and was sitting at the table with my laptop when he came in through the garage. It was very domestic, LOL. Traffic wasn't so bad this morning; I made it in almost exactly two hours. (Yes, I know, if that's not too bad, I've got a skewed sense of what a morning commute should be like!) I am going to think about switching my days at work to better coincide with the days he doesn't have the kids. That way I can linger in the morning and head out after traffic clears. Leaving at 9:30 instead of 6:30 would be just fine with me!

I've already knocked one thing off my To Do list this morning and I've got a second one that should be done by noon. Progress!

Oops... never mind Curby! I just did google maps and it's like a six and a half hour drive to Jackson from you. Oh well, it was a good idea while it lasted!

I felt quasi human today, so I guess I'm getting a little better.

DeeJay, TR must be beyond amazing. I'm not sure I'd drive two hours each way even for Charlie. LOL

We had a strong line of thunderstorms come through this afternoon, but thankfully, they were finished by the time I left the office. Tomorrow it's supposed to be only in the mid-60s, so BRRRRRRR. It will warm back up to the high 70s this weekend.

At least tomorrow is Wednesday.

That's about all I've got for today.........

Hi Kids! Spring is here!

Rod, it’s good to know you can be my own Apple support guy. Thanks! You may regret telling me that. I see the big thunderstorms are starting up. Alabama had grapefruit sized hail yesterday. We have had less snow than normal. Pink Eye doesn’t sound fun. I hope you start to feel better. Glad the storms moved out today before you had to head home. I’m not feeling bad for you being in the 60’s tomorrow. I’d be thrilled.

Dee Jay, I think making a big batch of bacon to freeze is a great idea. Maybe I should just “do” it some weekend. Jackson Hole is on the other side of the state from us about 7 hours away. Phooey! I’d love to catch up with you sometime. There is a great live webcam downtown by the big antler arch you could text me and go wave at me. That would be fun. I totally chuckled at your story of being very domestic. Sounds like a good idea to change your days in the office so you can have a more leisurely commute back to the city. Woo hoo for knocking some things off your to do list. I guess I’ll hand out my employee’s appraisals tomorrow. We just had them released to us today and they have to be given out by Friday. Mine was better than I expected and I got a 2.5% raise.

I ordered myself a pizza for supper tonight. Marty had one of his buddies over to lift and then Marty went back to work. There’s nothing exciting on TV tonight so maybe I’ll start a book.

Take care.
Marcy / Curby

Marcy.......YAYAYAYAY for getting a good review and Raise!! Congratulations! People often ask me if I get raises. I have to explain I give myself raises by working harder, since I'm 100% commission. LOL

Happy Hump Day kids!

Rod, of course you would drive two hours for Charlie because he IS amazing! And LOL on giving yourself a raise by working harder. At least you get to see the fruits of your labor in that way. Some of us work harder and still don't get anything more for it.

Curby, I'll find the antler arch and text you so I can wave at you! Then you can screen shot it and post it for Rod and DeeGee, ha ha. Good for you on the raise! At my company they tend to increase bonuses year over year but not do much with our base. Why cant I have both?! :cheeky:

Last night I was so tired... I took a nap on the couch while I waited for TR to get there, and then we went to bed early. I've got a slew of things to do tonight, including packing, cleaning off the kitchen counter, and doing my nails, and all this will be after I do Big Bro/Big Sis AND have dinner with a friend. I'm a bit worried about my traveling girlfriend getting to Jackson tomorrow because her starting point is Newark... fingers crossed this weather doesn't turn out as bad as the news is making it sound!

Marcy-YAY for a rood evaluation and a raise! Our merit raises have been frozen through 2 governors since 2005. Our current governor lifted the freeze last year, but we can only get merit raises every other year. Better than none at all like for the past 12 years. I got one last year, so I guess this year I can be a slacker! Did you start a book? Anything good? I read a book a few weeks ago that was kind of disturbing. I decided that, since I’m working on my mental health, I should only read lighthearted books for a while. I’m reading a goofy series called Miss Julia, recommended by my mom. No serious thinking going on there!

Dee*Jay- I’m glad it went well with the kids! Some kids are fun, but I sure don’t want to be around them for an extended period of time. Matt was carting some of his youth group kids back home and they begged him to take them in my BMW. These are very poor kids who live in an unheated shack, so a ride in a BMW was a really exciting prospect for them. He told them they had to ask me, and they were hilarious in their begging. We pulled up in front of the shack, and anybody who was outside on the street came running over. I forget how good I have it.

Rod-glad you enjoyed the movie! Its great to hear that families were there. I really hope your new antibiotics take care of you and that you’re feeling better. I didn’t know you were an Apple support contributor. Do you have an Apple Watch? I completely forgot about mine when I broke my wrist. I found it today in my jewelry box, and put it on the charger. I keep getting messages while I’m typing about a new Apple Watch being set up and needing my password. I can’t wear it yet because my wrist is weird and blobby after being in the splint.

I woke up this morning with a migraine. I have 14 weeks of leave and a few comp days, and decided it was a perfect day to call off. Besides, it’s cold and doing that rain/snow/sleet thing outside. It’s hard to believe that Sunday was such a beautiful, warm day that we took Lily to the park. Lots of people were there, a little league softball practice was going on, and today it’s snowing. I meant to do some work from home today, but so far I’ve just been reading and napping. Kind of a nice day, if my head didn’t hurt! Have a wonderful evening!!

I have to share this picture. My niece is in Uganda (her 2nd trip there) helping repair wells for clean drinking water. She sent me this pic, which I absolutely love! It made my day.

Hi Kids!

Rod, I see absolutely wrong with working harder to get more money. You rock!

Dee Jay, that will be fun if I can see you wave at me. When my friend does it she’ll tell me what color coat she has on and where she is; it’s pretty cool. I have a screen shot of Marty doing the same walking across Abby Road. I agree you deserve both a raise and a bonus. Who should I call and let them know they should get on it? I hope your friend makes it out of Newark okay. I had on some of the morning news / talk shows that have windows facing the street and it sure looked like NYC was getting a lot of snow.

Dee gee, our state employees have the same problem with frozen wages; darn. That’s good you can get a merit raise every other year now. We’ll both take anything we can get, right? Bling money. I hate when you read a book that is rather disturbing; it sticks with me for weeks. How is your mom doing? I did not start that book. It’s the latest one by Dan Brown and I am thinking it’s going to be more involved than I’m up to right now too. Maybe I’ll have Marty recommend something for me; he is hundreds of books ahead of me. He reads a lot on the road. That’s pretty cute about the kids being excited to take a ride in your BMW. We went to a party last summer and all the neighborhood kids were outside playing and I heard a kid get really excited “that’s a Porsche”. Yes, we do have it good. Marty loves his Apple watch; I can’t believe he still hasn’t got his new version yet. Did you get much snow? I love your niece’s picture from Uganda. That is great she goes over there to work on repairing wells. I have a good friend who has been over there twice with her church. Yes she ate bugs. As I said above, we do have it good.

My retinal exam was good; the edema has really flattened out. I am getting a different lens for the left eye and only have to keep using drops for one more month. Then he wants me to quit using drops for 2 weeks and we will see how my retina looks then. I won’t miss the sore throat the drops gives me but I will miss breathing out of my nose.

Since I was already late for work I filled my tank and washed my car.

I handed out 3 of my 5 employee appraisals. The 2 most difficult ones will be handed out tomorrow. Wish me luck on that.

Have a great evening.

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, are you in Jackson Hole yet? I hope you have a blast.

Rod, we were near 60 degrees here today. I rebelled and refused to wear a jacket to work. Ha!

Deegee, are you relaxing tonight? I hope so. How is your wrist?

I have handed out all of my employee appraisals. The lady I am putting on a performance improvement plan was oddly quiet and accepting of it but I could tell (as I would be) she was upset.

We had steaks cooked on the grill for supper. It was nice and with only a breeze; a nice spring day. Ssh don't tell Mother Nature. We don't want her looking our way.

Take care.

Marcy-mom is doing pretty well, thanks for asking. She desperately needs knee replacement surgery. She needed it before dad got sick, and for one reason after another has put it off to the point her knee sometimes doesn’t hold her up. She has an appointment next month to get surgery scheduled. Other than that, she has stayed active in church and her book club and she spends a whole lot of time working in her yard. We just celebrated her 80th birthday last Saturday! I’m glad you got through all of your performance appraisals and nobody was horribly upset. I’ll be doing that very soon too. Last week I met with one of my new employees who isn’t getting it, and I hope I impressed upon her the importance of correctness over quickness. I attempted to go without my compression sleeve today and wear my watch, but my arm puffed up and I had a hard time getting my watch off and my sleeve back on. I won’t be happy if I can’t wear my watch or my rings! I have the 2nd generation watch, and I’m shocked at how much I love this thing. I’m glad your retinal exam went well. Are you seeing any better?

Matt picked me up after work today, and we made a quick trip to Kohl’s for me a few pairs of jeans. I only have 2 pairs that fit; one I have worn one so much that the seat is scarily thin. I can’t go to a lake house without jeans! I had a burrito bowl from chipotle for dinner. We came home and gave Lily a bath, and now we’re all sitting in front of the fire. It snowed all day yesterday, but it was gone this morning. No complaints from me! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
