Healthy Living Thread

Hi Kids! Happy Friday.

Deegee, Happy 80th Birthday to your mom; that is wonderful. I am glad she is keeping busy and doing things she enjoys. I hope her knee surgeries go well. Are they doing both at the same time? My sister had both knees replaced last year and did great with it. They did one in August and one in December. She is getting around really well now.
Sorry to hear your new employee isn't getting it; hopefully she gets things figured out.
Sorry to hear your arm puffed up today. I am sure the swelling will get better with time. That would be sad if you can't take wearing your watch or rings. My loves his watch too.
I would say overall my distance vision is improved but close up remains bad because of the central vision loss caused by the retinal scar. It is something I'll have to live with.
You definitely need jeans for a trip to the lake house. I have some Kohl's cash to spend this coming week; I could use some new pants for work. Sitting around the fire sounds very cozy and peaceful.

I am glad the weekend is finally here. Marty is doing his strength training now and I just finished eating supper. I even started a batch of laundry already. Marty leaves for LA on Sunday again.
I am watching Pitch Perfect 3 while Marty is downstairs. He certainly wouldn't be interested watching it.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Hi Kids! Happy Saturday!

It's 2:15 and I am worn out already. We got up at 7. I stripped the beds and have been working on washing everything. I decided it's nice enough to put up the flannel sheets and get our cotton sheets out. I have to wash everything for the guest bedroom too. I think I'll put one of our California King cotton blankets on the queen bed in the front guest room. It's a high rise so the queen blanket doesn't hang over the edge much.
I also made up some mini pizza and mini meat-loafs for the freezer and went out to do that dreaded grocery shopping. I have 4 lbs of ground meat to make in to burgers and get those in the freezer as well.
I did some online shopping too but that was easy. I ordered us some steaks from Omaha Steaks, I ordered myself a short trench coat and a pink sweater from Land's End and a hydra flask water bottle from Amazon and of course while I was there I found some Snoopy sticky notes I "needed" for work. I also ordered a perpetual Snoopy calendar with sayings for a friend's birthday and ordered Marty some disposable protein drink shakers. Those darn things stink so bad and he frequently forgets to rinse them out. They are a buck a cup but that way he can take them with him if he is playing golf or heading to the airport.
Marty is out playing golf.
Right now I am sipping on my 8 oz of Coke (from a bottle). Next on my list is make up all the burgers for the freezer.

Hi Kids! Happy Sunday.

My dryer was going until 10:30 last night. I should wash the table cloth and place mats today but that depends on my care-o-meter whether I decide to do that or not. My right knee is pretty ticked off at me too. The jerk!

Marty is packing and getting ready to head to the airport. I just got back from getting some cash; the credit union near us was all closed off because they were paving the parking lot so darn I had to drive another 5 minutes down the road to another branch office.

Marty cooked me a burger and him some chicken on the grill for lunch and we had some cottage cheese and strawberries with that. I have no idea what I'll eat for supper.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Happy Monday kids!

Curby, I finally made it into town on Saturday night, but couldn't figure out where the web cams were, but I'll post a pic for you of the arches. They are super cool!

The weekend was really nice! Sister #2 and I rendezvoused at the airport in Jackson (her flight landed about an hour after mine). We just hung out at the report that afternoon and night. The next day she skied early and then we met for lunch. We were supposed to go into town for dinner but we ran into some people that we met the night before and just had dinner at the bar with them. Saturday #2 skied again and then we did make it into town. We shopped around a bit and had a really good dinner at the Snake River Grill. Yesterday we had a big buffet breakfast and headed to the airport. Originally I was supposed to come home through Denver but there was a direct flight to O'Hare leaving half and hour earlier than my Denver flight and since there were seats I was able to get on. That meant I got home about 2-1/2 hours earlier -- woo hoo! I zipped home, dropped everything off, and then went up to TR's traffic this morning was super light, I think because people are off for spring break with their kids. It was awesome!

OK, off to catch up.

The first one is when we got into town and it was still a bit light. The second one is a little later with the cool lights on.

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, great pictures of the arches, the webcam is diagonal from the arch and pretty high. Earthcam changed to a different webcam in Jackson Hole but I know you can see the arches webcam online too.
It sounds like you had a really nice time this weekend and woo hoo for getting home earlier than expected. That is always nice. Even better that the traffic was light on your way to TR's house.

I didn't sleep well last night. I had another employee mistake crop up last night and I assumed my boss would go ballistic about it. I was able to fall asleep but when I woke up at 3:45 I keep thinking about it and could not go back to sleep. He was surprisingly calm about it this morning. He made up a few reports and forms they have to use and that was it. Miracles do happen.

I was super busy at work today so the day zipped by. I had planned on going to supper with a friend of mine but she had to leave work early to babysit while her daughter went to the doctor. Luckily I have assorted meals in the freezer to cook.

Take care.

Happy Tuesday kids!

Curby, isn't it surprising--in a good way--when something gets screwed up and our bosses aren't all spun up over it?! It's the worst though when you wake up thinking about stuff. Ugh.

Yesterday I got not much of anything done... But today I am On It! TR came down last night and I tried to clean up the house a little, and did actually get a load of laundry done, but that was about it. This morning I stayed in bed late and got to would about 9:45. No one seems to care, LOL.

Alright, off to tackle all the stuff that's been shoved down into the middle drawer of my desk that I haven't felt like addressing for... oh... a good long while now. I deemed it The Drawer Of Death. Wish me luck!

Hi Kids! Happy Wednesday.

Dee Jay, it is a pleasant surprise when bosses aren't freaking out over things. I am really becoming more and more "what's the point?" It's not life and death here.

I think you deserve some down time. Getting a load is laundry done is progress. I considered doing a batch of laundry tonight but I wrote a few Easter cards to send to some relatives.

LOL to the Drawer of Death. I have one of those at home and at work. Things go in and sometimes never come out.

We had constant snow all day but never enough to accumulate. I think the wind blew all the snow away.

I got to work about 45 minutes early today and got a lot done. It was a very busy day but the days go by really fast that way.

Have a great day!

Hi Kids! Happy Thursday.

Marty is coming home late tonight. Woo hoo! I met a friend for lunch today and she brought her daughter with her. She's cute, I think she's in 3rd grade. It was fun.

Tomorrow is Friday. It won't be any easy day at work but I'm going to persevere and try to get out of there by 5.

Take care.

Happy Saturday kids!

Curby, did you make it out on time yesterday? And kids at that age are cute! Some friends of mine who moved to DC several years ago are in town this weekend. They came over on Thursday night and they've got a 9 year old boy and a 6 year old girl. I will say though, the adults were all DONE and the kids were Still Going Strong. At Midnight. Oy. I felt bad for TR, who actually got up and went to work on Friday morning. More power to him! I don't think I got out of bed for real until about 10!

Last night we weren't sure if my friends were coming back or not so we didn't do much, which was fine with me. We went to bed early, and this morning TR headed out to do some stuff and I'm just cleaning up around the house until I have to leave to pick up my client at 1:00.

I've been looking around at different 911 options, and there is one at a dealer about 10 miles from here that I would like to go drive, but it's a raining and generally crappy day here so I'm probably going to skip it unless the weather improves considerably between now and when I drop my client back off.

OK, off to take a shower and pack stuff up to take to TR's when I get done real estating. I have to organize and think it through since I need clothes for tomorrow and also for work on Monday. If I'm not careful I will surely forget something!

Hoppy Easter Eve Kids!

Dee Jay, i did leave my desk at 4:57 yesterday. By the time I got downstairs and to the door it was 5 and that worked for me. It's amazing how much energy kids can have; my sister says that is why we are tired when we get old is because we use up all of our energy then. TR is a real trooper getting up and going in to work yesterday. I'd want to sleep in like you did.

How exciting to be exploring 911 options and looking to driving one. What are you thinking of getting? They had a robin egg blue 911 4S convertible on the show room floor that had been sold to some guy in a band when we were shopping for our Macan. Marty had heard of the band but we can't remember who it was now. It was a gorgeous car. Vroom Vroom.

I hope your real estate showings went well and you remembered to back everything you need. Have a safe trip to TR's place.

Speaking of R the Trump 737 is parked on the tarmac at our airport. Apparently Ivanka and family are vacationing in Wyoming over the holiday weekend. I am seeing a steady stream of selfies in front of the plane on FB. It's right by the airport but of course on the other side of a fence. I'd think they'd park it on the Army Guard side of the airport for security. Of course this is Wyoming.

Have a fabulous weekend.

Hi all!

So lovely to see the HLT is going strong!

Still the same for me, doing my cardio off and on, watching the calories and using new fangled devices such as FitBits and drinking matcha lattes. I still can't decide if they are good or taste like shredded boiled weeds..... But anyway.

Great to see all the familiar faces. xx:wavey:

Happy Easter Kids!

Lorelei, it's good to hear from you. I saw you were posting again. I always think of you and "pants" weather.
What are matcha lattes? I don't drink coffee. Marty drinks espresso most of the time. They do have amazing devices to help keep us on track these days.

Not much exciting going on at the Chez M&M today. Marty played poker last night, he doubled the money I gave him to take. I keep trying to recoup my initial investment but so far I'm not succeeding. We slept in until after 7. Woo hoo.

We ended up with about 2" of snow so we have a White Easter. We are thawing tenderloins for dinner today. I have a stack'o'laundry to do today but not much else.

Take care.

The weather is still pants Marcy, it's still winter in England with possible snow forecast tomorrow.

Matcha is green tea powder mixed with hot milk and water, it's supposed to be very good for you but I can't quite convince myself.

Lorelei, our weather is pants with a bunch of high winds thrown in. Winter is hanging on in both of our parts of the world.
It doesn't sound like Matcha is something you are going to love. Too bad since it's supposed to be very good for you.

I do believe you are right Marcy and I need to stop kidding myself. Hot chocolate it is not. :|

Happy Monday kids!

Lorelei, so good to see you!!! And I admit I'm not much good in the kitchen, but I do know my way around a bar and I respectfully suggest your matcha lattes might benefit from a wee bit of vodka. Just my two cents... :cheeky:

Curby, had I known Marty was in a money-doubling frame of mind I would have given him whatever was in my wallet too!

What a great weekend! Saturday night TR had some friends over for dinner that I've met a few times before. They are really nice people, and we had a good time. Sunday morning he got up early and went and did an Easter egg hunt with his kids while I stayed in bed, LOL. We really didn't do a ton yesterday but it was still such a good day -- laundry, a trip to the grocery store (and you KNOW how I hate the grocery store; ugh!), I drove his new truck for the first time (just a practice run... man that thing seems HUGE to me!), typical Sunday stuff. We went to bed relatively early, but I was dead asleep when my alarm went off this morning. The drive in was super fast (in a relative sense) so people just still be on spring break this week.

Hi Kids!

Lorelei, I keep cocoa mixes at work and I only have one on days I traipse in through the snow. Sadly I haven't had many of them this year.

Dee Jay, vodka can always make things taste better. I had some Chardonnay with my supper today. I needed it! I agree that Marty should have let me know he planned on doubling his money; I would have asked to be cut in.
It sounds like you had a great time this weekend. What truck was TR have? When Marty had his F250 with extended cab and full bed I left like I was driving a fire truck (and it was red).

Work was awful today. Too much to do, too little time and well you know the skill level of some of my team. I cursed many times.

Marty must be out playing golf even though it's really windy. My stalking app shows him on the golf course on base here. He was also posting on his strength training page earlier this afternoon. I must admit I am nervous he wasn't busy working today.

Take care.

Happy Tuesday kids!

Curby, TR had an F150 but just bought a Silverado. That's as much as I know about it, LOL. Oh wait -- it's black. OK, now THAT'S as much as I know!

Lorelei, our weather today is absolute PANTS! :cheeky:

Last night I ran home and grabbed some more work clothes and then went up to TR's. We had leftovers and packed up a few things he had to ship. It seems like he's coming down with a cold... which means I will be coming down with a cold any minute now.. UGH.

I think I'm going to run over to Nordstrom Rack today at lunch. My flat black boots that I wear all the time are really about done for so I want to see if they have anything to replace them with. I also got a pair of taupe suede cowboy boots there last week on clearance that I am totally in love with. I would love to find them in black, but no luck so far. Oh well, maybe they will have something else I like.

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, see you know a lot about TR's pickup. Did you go drive some 911's?

Ugh to maybe getting a cold. I get to quit my eye drops in 2 weeks which I am rather looking forward to because it gives me a sore throat but that means I won't be able to breath through my nose anymore. That's been a nice side effect.

Did you find any boots on Nordstrom's rack? Marty has some flip flops from them that he absolutely loves.

Today was a bit less stressful at work but still insanely busy. I did see progress.

I ordered a sweater from Land's End that I wore today and I decided I need more colors. It's comfy and soft. I seam to wear cardigans all the time anymore mostly because I'm always cold.

Take care.

Happy Wednesday kids!

Curby, I haven't driven any yettttt... but there is one about 10 miles from me that I'm tempted to go test out! Then again, the practical side of me says maybe I should just replace my 14 year old Lexus. And the SUPER practical side of me (yanno -- the side the wants to RETIRE some day!) says not to buy any new cards whatsoever, LOL.

TR's cold came out in a big big way last night so he stayed home. I did my nails and went to be early. It was lovely, LOL. We had some snow and my car was covered in white this morning, but I think it will melt off soon. I didn't feel like brushing it off this morning though so I took a lyft to my dentist appointment. That means I'll also have to lyft home tonight, but that's ok.

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, drive it, drive it. Why should I be the only one who isn't practical.
I do have to admit I am envious of my sister who just retired last week. She is enjoying life.
Oh no that TR's cold took hold yesterday. Poor guy. I hope he gets better soon and that you avoid getting it.
Did your snow melt today? We have some more of the white stuff coming our way Friday and Saturday. Not much though.

Not much exciting going on with us. Marty is heading to Texas tomorrow for a strength training meet. I am looking forward to a lazy, quiet weekend after how hectic work has been for me. The cleaning lady is "supposed" to come clean this weekend. I worked on updating my astronomy newsletter tonight, I just gave it a different look.

Take care.

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, I got my Porsche magazine and they have all sorts of 911 pictures in there. Ooh.

Marty is on his way to Texas. I actually had my work done with time to spare today. How nice. I stopped at the grocery store on the way home and picked up groceries. We are getting about 6" of snow tomorrow so decided I'd get weekend errands done while it's still warm.

Tomorrow is Friday. Woo hoo!
Curby

Hi Kids.

I can sum up my day with 2 pictures. Is this anyway to treat a Porsche?

I have been sidelined with the flu since last Friday, but I had to stop in to say - Marcy, I love the color of your car! It’s so gorgeous!! Even with all that ice and salt...gorgeous. Makes me swoon!

3 out of 4 of us who were exposed to the person who we later found out had flu ended up with it. The 4th and unsick person is Matt. He’s the only one out of all of us that didn’t have a flu shot. Go figure. All I want to do is sleep. I’ll be back when I have the energy to type. Have a good weekend!

Hi Kids!

Deegee, I sure hope you get over your flu bug really soon. It sounds miserable. Good for Matt not getting the flu; I generally don't catch what is going around. Thanks for the compliment on my car - I have a sapphire ring that matches my car. That is very important to me.

I swear I just can't find good employees. The cleaning lady was supposed to show up at 8. I finally sent her a text at 8:30 and I get this oh I'm sorry I forgot my husband had to do ... so I don't have a babysitter. You can't tell me she didn't know that last night or this morning. And she doesn't think of telling me? :wall:

It's still an icy wonderland out there so I just started a batch of beef noodle soup and I think I'll brew up cookie today. I may as well do all my laundry as well.

Have a fabulous weekend.

Marcy-I’ve been researching for my next car, and so far this is the front runner, in that color too. There was one on the showroom floor last week when I picked up my car. I had a little incident on the interstate and had to replace all 4, 19 inch low profile run flat tires and everything had to be realigned. I had them do the next maintenance too. That was not a fun visit to the BMW dealer. You’re right about good help. A courtesy call means a lot, and people just don’t seem to think of it. We were supposed to get a bunch of snow today, but thankfully it completely missed us. I hope your winter wonderland that’s out soon and you can enjoy some warm spring weather!

I pretty much slept the entire day. I went to my hair appointment that I had to move from earlier in the week because I figured I was probably still contagious, and my haircut lady would be ticked if I brought her the flu. She adopted a new dog, Lucy, from the shelter, and I was crawling around on the floor playing with sweet Lucy while I had dye in my hair. I took a very long nap when I got home, and I see myself sound asleep before midnight. We go on vacation in 2 weeks, so this being sick nonsense better clear up before then. Have a great day tomorrow! (I’m sure I’ll be sleeping the day away)

Hi Kids!

Deegee, that color certainly does match mine. It looks like a very nice SUV! Oh no about need to replace tires. Replacing tires is not cheap. My 05 A6 had all new Michelin all weather tires on it - less than a month old when that sucker locked up and they used a wench to get it on to a flatbed to haul it to Colorado. I didn't know what I worried about more - my tires or my transmission.

I am with you on naps . I hope your flu goes away so you can enjoy your vacation. I took a nap this afternoon and a friend of mine sent me a text pretty much after i feel asleep. That's the first nap I've taken in probably 5 years.

The cleaning lady sent me a text at 6:55 this morning saying sorry I don't have a babysitter but I can clean for sure next weekend. :wall: I'd been awake since before 5 anyway so I was already showered and dressed. I went to eat breakfast at 7 and got home by 7:30. I had a waffle. I made some scalloped potatoes for lunch and cook a steak. I saved half of both for my lunch tomorrow.

I've been readying and watching TV today. I thought of going to Colorado for a long overdue bling binge but decided I was too tired to drive that far. Marty gets home tomorrow sometime from his strength conference.

Laters,
Marcy / Curby

Happy Monday Kids!

Marty got home this afternoon. He enjoyed his strength conference this weekend. We went out for supper which is nice because we tend to visit more when we go out than eating at home with the TV on.

After we got home I worked on assorted paperwork that I need to mail tomorrow. Look out obstacle course at the post office - here I come tomorrow. I am meeting our CPA at 1 pm tomorrow. Since I have the day off I moved my hair appointment from this Saturday to tomorrow morning. We can only bank 240 hours of vacationo before it quits accruing and I am at 232 hours. I'd best take some time off; I have no intention of losing any of my vacation.

Take care.
Marcy

Hi Kids!

I tried to sleep in but yapping neighbor dogs woke me up at 6. I did get back to sleep then one of my employees sent me a text at 7 saying they weren't coming in to work today. My inner voice response was not polite but of course that's not what I sent back.

I got my hair cut this morning, braved the obstacle course at the post office and turned in our tax information.

Dee Jay, you CPA's are amazing - it took her about 5 minutes and scribbling things on a tablet, running a few numbers on a calculator to come up with pretty much what I figured online. She will get back to us when our taxes are figured.

I think I'll read this afternoon. I have laundry going. It's gorgeous outside today too. Maybe in the 50's and a little breezy.

Laters,
Curby / Marcy
