@prs - thanks for the link. I used to make jewellery so know about internal and external measurements - I think @dk168 and I were talking about the width across the top of the finger. I really need to measure my fingers again though!

The inside diameter of the ring, and the width across the top of your finger are identical measurements.

There is no dilemma here. I think you do not have realistic expectations. Sounds like you should get a tanzanite and not wear it every day -- for durability reasons. There are some crazy-vivid tanzanites out there.
