Well, I went to look at all these patterns today, and I have to say my favorite is the Wedgwood "White." They''re just what I''m looking for. Bloomindale''s has them on sale -- 40% off right now, too.

I still LOVE the Chirp, though. I''m sure that I could mix in some pieces of the Chirp with the white ones.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions.

For simple, everyday dishes, the PB White and Great White collections at Pottery Barn would be ideal. If you want something a bit nicer, but still casual enough for daily use, I think the Lenox Opal Innocence Carved is a really beautiful.

Let us know what you end up with. This thread has inspired me to look into getting new dishes. With young kids, it''s a bit silly to invest in new dishes, but thus far, the only dishes that have been chipped are the ones I''ve hapharzarely tossed into the dishwasher. My kids are much more gentle.

I have a white set from Pottery Barn that is discontinued, but we have used it everyday for 10+ years and it doesn''t have any scratches...I don''t know if that might be the case for their current dishes or not. I''m currently looking for new dishes since we''ve broken several of our current set. I like some of the white patterns at Williams Sonoma.

Pfaltzgraff makes a stoneware cleaner that will get the silverware marks off. I''ve also heard that Bar Keeper''s Friend will remove them....I''ve also heard that you can make a paste of baking soda that will do the trick as well. Hope that helps with your Fiesta!

PB has several lines in white porcelain that are part of regular stock (not seasonal). I have the Coupe, my mom has the PB White, SIL has the Great White Traditional. We all love ours, and no issues with marks.

We have the Pottery Barn classic white (I think its called?) and have no silverware marks after about 2 years of use. We also have some Apilco porcelain tea cups and saucers which look nice but really the only silverware they see is the occasional spoon or fork. They do have some really awesome patterns though!

We have these white dishes from BB&B. I love them, they''re fine china, and they don''t have any marks in them from our silverware. They''re also super inexpensive, only $80 for four place settings. We bought 12, and mix them in with our fine china when we entertain.

We''ve been using them for nearly two years now, and I think they''re just lovely. They look fabulous with our hand potted dishes, too.

They''re thin but not too thin, and they''re just really elegant IRL.
Funny you should post these exact dishes. My step daughter is excited to move out on her own after graduation next year. She was mentioning she wants classic white dishes and I told her about these exact ones only today :) I said they''d be just perfect for what you want.. I think I''m going to start her a hope chest this year. She didn''t know what it was.. I thought every young girl did.

Anyway.. these are so lovely!!
I love our dishes! They''re a nice choice, SDL.

And . . . I have a hope chest! I love that, too. It''s a Lane cedar chest with flowers painted on the front. I remember picking it out one year, it was a very big deal because we didn''t have a lot of money and my parents made a huge deal about me getting my hope chest. I love it.
