Help me find setting ideas?

Molly, I agree -- I love the lines of the stone and a contrasting bezel would accent it beautifully, I think. And I appreciate your thoughts about alloys and their differences. When I say "rose" I am not thinking copper, but more pink. And I can imagine that is something you do have to evaluate in person.

Minous, that is a gorgeous ring! A very different and inspiring halo! I love that the halo stones get their own little bezels.

I appreciate the responses as I try to narrow things down!

Well, I modeled your stone from your pictures and size description and it turns out that the use of whatever color metal extends to the culet of this stone will change it's apparent color dramatically. The rose gold bezel in these two renders only extends down about 1mm from the girdle so has little effect on the color showing in the stone. The halo material extends down past the culet of the stone and, as you can see, affects the face up color of the stone quite a bit.
This wouldn't happen with a well cut round stone, but with this style of cutting and an emerald shape there's enough light coming through the pavilion at just the right angles to add color to the sides of the stone. Anyway, there's the answer if you want to enhance the color of this stone with the setting. Remember though that rose gold does tarnish over time, due to the high copper content, and so that rose color will get some brownish tones as time goes on, (meaning that the inside of the ring would need to be polished from time to time).

Michael, thanks so much for taking the time to do that for me! And how interesting. I really do like that the rose gold could be an enhancement, but the funny thing is -- remember that I don't think I really love white gold -- just looking at the renderings, the white halo is very pretty to me! I will absolutely take this information into consideration as I make decisions. Thanks again for your assistance!

Does anyone have a strong opinion on rose gold vs something else? I don't actually care much for white gold, but might consider it in combination with some rose gold accents. But I love yellow gold and that is probably my first choice. Would the rose be the best option for enhancing the pink? In a halo setting?

I am going to buck traffic here, as usual!
I agree fully with the 'don't use rose gold', as the models show, there is no contrast and it just kills the color of the stone. White gold is better but I find it too cold for such a warm color, I think it looks best with 'icy' or cool pinks.
Yellow gold will bring out the warmth of this color like rose and white just will not.
My 2 cents!

Ally66- Your stone is beautiful. I cannot wait to see how you will set it.

PieAreSquared, buck away! Because my heart always seems to want to turn back to yellow gold...

Thank you, Lisa! Can't wait to see hand shots of your lovely new ring!

I'm not certain that your stone is a warm pink... doesn't look that way to me, but we don't all "read" colors in precisely the same way, plus everyone's screen/monitor color calibration settings are not all the same. It's your real life perspective that is most meaningful -- how do you think the stone looks when held against pieces of your yellow gold jewelry?

Even if not objectively optimal for the stone itself, you may decide that your love for yellow gold is the deciding factor, and there'd be no need to feel apologetic about that, it's your ring and should make your heart sing. Hopefully, you'll soon be able to "audition" the stone in settings of different golds at local jewelers/goldsmiths; even if they don't have semi-mounts at hand with heads/halos large enough to plop your 11 x 8 mm stone right into, they should have some mountings that could help you decide.

Hope you're finding this process more fun than exasperating! :))

P.S. Adding my big thanks, Michael, for taking the time to prepare the mock-ups you posted -- Trade members' willingness to share their skills and expertise is such a huge PS plus! :appl:

Thank you, Molly! I so appreciate having input and support and ideas for my project! And it is fun! I am glad to have the reminder that there's no right or wrong or rule! I think this lovely pink stone will end up making a beautiful ring!

An update -- I took the plunge a few weeks ago and sent my stone to David Klass, and my ring is finished! It's posted on his Instagram, and I will share pictures when it is on my finger! But I thought I'd give a heads-up to anyone who'd like to see a teaser! It looks gorgeous... Thanks, as always, for such a supportive community!

Yay! Congrats with your beautiful ring :appl:
Just went over to David's insta and your ring looks fabulous. Looking forward to see your pics when the ring is on your hand.

Thanks, Acinom! I'm very excited!
