Help with setting this diamond Q/R

I have a small Q/R VS1 OEC diamond. I’m stumped on how to set it. It’s really small at roughly 5mm. I’d like to play it up in a gorgeous ring but I’m kind of stumped. Any ideas?

Gorgeous ring!!! I definitely want to do a ring. I want to play up the size and the color. I’ve been searching for ideas but nothing is quite right.

Hmm. Some options: a French or carré cut calibre set sapphire, ruby or emerald halo
A floral/cluster ring with rose cuts or single cut petals to play up the warm centre?

I love target rings! That was what I was initially planning but now that I have the stone I’m thinking it is to yellow for a target ring. I’ve been searching for images of warm/yellow stones in target rings and haven’t found any. It would probably look ok in a yellow gold and emerald target ring but I don’t care for the green/yellow combo. Love the cluster rings you posted.

An onyx target ring is my dream ring! I’m not sure the onyx would do the warm stone justice

these are a few ideas I’ve had. My concerns for the halo would be pairing round brilliant melee with the old European stone. The engraved bezel is gorgeous (I would do without the stones on the shank) but I fear it will be to boring

I know what you mean - Verna Estate have a warm rose cut in a sapphire halo and it doesn’t look quite right to my eye. Now that I look to get the link,
https://etsy.me/2ywYDDu, that might be because it’s a greenish yellow ie actually fancy colour so the colour is much stronger than yours. Sorry! It wasn’t a great suggestion taking into account your specific stone.
Are you thinking halo of any sort?

Yes and unfortunately she doesn’t work with customer supplied stones (ugh) so I suspect it would be a David Klass project, perhaps. I’m still trying to figure out how to set my avatar stone, a 6mm oec. I’d love to do a carved stone halo.... just haven’t made any commitment yet. #hesitating

Yes, that does look off to me. I don’t necessarily need a halo. I just want to play up the stones size and color.

I was so bummed when I saw that. Her work is gorgeous. I’m hoping to keep this setting under $1000 because the stone is only 5mm. If it was 6 + I’d be more inclined to do something more extravagant. It’s just a fun project. I don’t have the funds for a larger stone right now but hopefully will someday.

I actually went back Ivy&Rose to check, and that 2nd one is for 5.5mm center.
But I did see another option on their site for a 5mm that really would give some size to the stone and I think would be beautiful. By the way , these rings are like $295~500 in 14k. This one is $489:

I think it would look incredible in an 18k gold bezel but I think I’d be really bummed by how small it would be. I’m reserving that for a larger stone

Sometimes the best thing to do is set the stone aside in a safe place and let time wash over you. Perhaps it will uncover the diamond's destiny. <3

Do you guys think I’d be crazy to put it in a ruby target ring? I want a target ring so bad. I could do a yellow gold bezel and the rest white gold or all yellow gold. I was thinking of searching for a whiter diamond for a target ring but it’s hard to justify buying another diamond when I have this one sitting in my jewelry box. I’ve been searching for pictures of target rings with yellow diamonds and found some examples
