Oooh, more C names: Carson, Carl, Casey, Clyde *not a fan,* Cliff, Clyson. Yeah, that''s all again. For now.

I have some baby-name stories to share...

My first name is Summer, which came from a comic strip, but it was not my parents'' first choice. They picked the name Heather, but a month before I was born, my uncle got a collie puppy and named her, you guessed it, Heather! So they had to quickly come up with a new name or have me share a name with a dog!!! I''m actually kind of glad that happened because Summer suits me much better, though 9 times out of 10, when somebody gets my name wrong, they call me Heather. Weird, but true! moral of the story... either lay claim to "your name" early on, or have a list of backups!

and here''s one that is a little crazy...

My BF''s brother and his wife were expecting a little girl and were floating the name Julia. I panicked because this has been on my list forever! He didn''t understand why I was so upset until I explained that it wouldn''t just be the case of them having the same first name... they''d have the same first AND last name because it was his brother''s child. I had to admit I didn''t have a leg to stand on since 1) we aren''t married, 2) we aren''t even sure if we want kids, and 3) she was actually pregnant at the time! In the end they named her Erin, but I was very upset, inconsolable actually, for at least a month. My friends thought I was nuts, he thought I was nuts, but I was just really attached to that name. I still am, and fortunately it''s still on the list.

I have a funny name story, too, Sumbride. My brother and I are seven years apart, and he''d gotten really comfortable with being the only child. He wanted it to stay that way, too. So, my parents had quite a struggle with talking him into being excited to be a big brother. He said he wanted a dog, not a sister or brother. They got him a puppy. He still didn''t want me. Mom and Dad had decided on Amy, but then one day my brother came home from school and said if he had to have a sister, could they please name me Jennifer? Mom fell in love with the name instantly. And there you have it. I''m a Jen now, and not an Amy. Turns out he had a little crush on a third grader named Jennifer, so that''s why he liked the name.

Fish that is funny and reminds me of how I actually ended up with my brother. My parents weren''t actually thinking about having a second at the time. But the daycare I went to had just gotten a baby Mathew. And all of a sudden I really wanted one. So for weeks, months I would talk about and ask if we could get a baby Mathew. It was all I thought about. Well it actually got my parents talking about having a second and what do you know they did. But they wouldn''t name him Mathew for me. It was Paul actually. And just to add a little more humor, he was a chunky baby so we all called him Paulus the Walrus for a nick name. I can''t really laugh though because for most of my childhood I was Amando Commando or Amando Demando because I told every one what to do and how it was gonna be hehehe.

Equ, how about these C names? Camden, Carter, Carson, Cedric, Cole, Chane, Conner, Courtland, Coltin, Christian, Collin, Chase, Corbin, Cale.

I just love last names for first names. I wanted to name my little girl Reagan, but I got denied. Oh well... Now I''m in love with Callie.

Hee hee... I''m gonna have to tell my Paul about the Paulus the Walrus thing.

i haven''t followed this thread all the way... but thought i''d share a name story.

my aunt, grandma, mom and cousin all wrote a list of their favorite names. mine was on everyone so that''s how i was named.

my grandma always thought that her middle name was kathleen. when it came time to name her daughter she named her kathleen. later my grandma found out her middle name was really kathryn, so when i was born, my middle name became kathryn.

That leads to my next question... How do you plan to adapt your name once you''re married? Do you plan on keeping your middle name, dropping it, taking your current last name as your middle name? Hyphenating? Keeping both middle and last names? My current middle name is my Grandma''s name, and while I used to dislike it, I''ve grown fond of it with time. I plan on having two middle names. My current and my maiden.

Well, I''m hoping HE takes my last name and make it his middle name (as he doen''t have one.) A la Hillary Rodham Clinton.

i am dropping my last name. so my name will be
myfirstname mymiddlename hislastname

Aww, it looks like at least three people got engaged this weekend. How exciting. Seems like we''re in the midst of a proposal boom around here. How fun!! Congratulations to all you newly engaged women! I hope the planning and all that goes well and smoothly!

While I''m at it with the posting of silly things, let me show you guys the ring we *made* last weekend. I was surprised with how big the 1/2 carat *paper* diamond looked on my hand. Makes me so excited to get the *real* thing! Eeek!

heehee, Fisher, I will admit to you that I''ve done that same thing! Cutting out paper diamonds, rings, etc. and wearing them around
3.gif
It''s kind of embarassing, but it sure is fun! Now that we have the diamond, but it''s still not set, I''m walking around with it on my hand and setting it up next to my silver band ring and dreaming abou it being set in the e-ring soooon!! Man it''s tough to wait, but playing and dreaming sure is fun
2.gif

Haha Sunkist. I''d be scared to do that with a *real* diamond. Is your diamond on that purple flower on your icon? It''s beautiful.

I like how he gets happy and excited with me about this stuff, but in a way, it makes it harder for me. It makes me think, "Argh! Let''s go already, then, buddy!" Oh well, I pray my time is coming.

When will your diamond be set?

Yep! That''s my diamond in the avatar. I hope we''ll have it set in a month. The jeweler says allow 3 weeks for the ring to be made, set, etc. And we still haven''t sent it in. Need to get things organized... My BF wants to wait to propose until after we walk for graduation which is June17th. And he''s also said it will be June/July. So the time is coming soon and we need to get that stone set so he can do it!! Otherwise I might start getting anxious. I hope not.

Ya, I carry my diamond around on my hand! Don''t worry I just stay in my room and the living room. And I''m very careful

I know you''re sort of stuck staying on this thread, but I have a thread full of pics of my diamond if you would like to visit! I promise it''s an approved thread for you to visit

Fisher, do you two know about when you''ll be getting married? My BF and I have already talked about that so it''s sort of eased my mind that we both want to get married before the end of year. We''ve also already discussed dates for the wedding too. I feel like we''re doing it all backwards. But I still haven''t started planning anything, I''m waiting for the proposal to really start. But I understand how you feel about wanting to get the ball rolling already. I think I''ve calmed down a bunch from that stage by already looking forward to our wedding date. My C is really comfortable about talking about the wedding, our future family, etc. Last night he was talking about how he''s going to propose. I didn''t let him tell me anything, but I guess his buddy has been telling him to do it some extravagant way. That''s not C''s way though, he says he''ll do something private. And I''m so glad.

So are all the baby name posts for your future kids? I didn''t read back that far... I''ll just say I like the name Clifford!

Thanks for the link, Sunkist. I pretty much roam around this forum now, but I don''t go to other titles unless I get permission from him or one of *his girls.* He likes to be bossy.

Your diamond is quite the sparklie! Nice, nice! I hope it gets its permanent home soon!!

We''re planning on October, and I do find peace in knowing it''s coming, even though our engagement has been delayed a bit. Neither of us want anything huge or fancy, so it shouldn''t be that big of a deal to have a slightly shorter engagement. I''m like you though, I don''t want to do anything *real* as far as planning until I''m officially engaged to him. Otherwise, it feels a bit fake and cheesy. I''ve calmed down a bit from my initial frustration over the delay, partly because I know it''s coming, and partly because I know it means the world to him to do this *right.* And I just KNOW his car is going to cooperate and act right from now on. Yay!

What month are you two looking at?

Oh yeah, the C names were for Equ. She''s thinking of having a C theme. I like Callie for a girl, Caleb for a boy, myself. But Paul and I have only been able to agree on Callie Jane for a girl, and Elizabeth *Beth* Suzanne for another girl, and yeah, we haven''t agreed yet on a boy name. I want Seth Andrew, Caleb, or Elijah. All have been vetoed. Oh well. Looks like we''ll just have to have two girls, then!
31.gif

OOh sunkist! It''s a K. I didn''t know that. I don''t know much about diamonds, but I am really liking diamonds with more color than the pure white, and I asked Paul to look for an I or J for me, but I''m partial to J, since that''s my first initial. He laughed and thought it was funny. Thing is, I was sort of serious.

I love, love, LOVE those pictures! You have a true beauty!!

My BF and I can't decide on baby names either. I've picked 2 boy names and 2 girl names that I love, but he doesn't like them... I think I'll just have to warm him up to them
1.gif
Plus, when the day comes, who can argue with a pregnant woman? haha! J/K.

Ya, my stone is a K! Thank you for compliments
1.gif
You like warmer tones too? Cool! I think they look prettier on my hand. They match my skin tone and don't stand out blaringly white/blueish. I hope he gets you a J then, that would be neat! But, hey, any diamond will be neat
3.gif

Yeah, anything has to be an improvement over my paper diamond, no?

He just called, and it just dawned on me that next Wednesday is his last day of school. So, that means he''ll be in a MUCH better mood, MUCH more relaxed, and he''ll have MUCH more time to focus in on engagement stuff. Yes!! And, I also just realized he could come and totally surprise me, instead of me thinking it would only happen on a weekend. Now I''m SO excited!! Gotta love teachers... they get so much time off. That means I can call in sick a few times this summer to get some extra time in with him. Whoo Hoo!!

Hey Blenhiem! I just remembered you were supposed to get your ring this weekend. Sunday, no? Girl, do you just love it? I''m hoping you do. Ooh, please tell us about it. I''ve been looking for a post to pop up and I''ve not seen one. I hope you''re THRILLED! Yay!

Hey! Thanks for posting that link, Sparkles. I can''t stay on long, because my FI''s not going to give me a massage tonight unless I actually get part of my programming project done. Eek! He''s threatening me right now! He says Pricescope''s not legitimate work. Ok, scurrying off. (Stupid FI.)
2.gif

Oh blenhiem, Don''t let numbers make you not love a diamond you clearly adore! It''s beautiful!

Mandarine, I''ve not seen her in a while. Last I heard, she was frustrated with the a/c not working right. It''s been a good bit of time, though.

I hope you get your back rub, Blenhiem. I live for weekends so I can get a backrub. Ooh! Some day I''ll be able to get one any day I want. Nice!

Is your back all better yet?

Hey Fisher -

Love that your brother picked your name! My nephew named my neice. He came home from preschool and announced that the baby was a girl and her name was Allyson. They didn''t yet know that it was a girl, but when they found out she was, they decided to go with the name since they hadn''t come up with a name for him until he was 3 days old! So she was named Allyson as soon as she was born, and about a week after arriving home, he decided he didn''t like her anymore and could they PLEASE send her back. She''s almost two now and he still doesn''t really like having her around, but he''s taken to locking himself inside the play pen fencing with his toys to keep her away from them.

Oh, and Sparkles... I have a neice named Amanda... She''s a redhead and quickly earned the nickname "DEMANDA". Your post reminded me of that!

Covert PS time...

Thanks Fisher. I''m doing a lot better now, and looking at it here by my computer it''s just so fiery. All of my friends have commented on how much it sparkles. Part of my problem earlier, honestly, was a large Long Island Iced Tea. (My friends wanted to celebrate our last Monday as college students.) I posted in Rocky Talky (I want reassurance from people who are better at this kind of thing than I am, basically), but no responses yet. But, I am feeling a lot better.

Blen - I hope I didn''t steal your thunder by posting that link! I wasn''t sure when you''d be back and I just didn''t want poor fish sitting there waiting
2.gif
! So I am sorry for that.

Sum - that is pretty funny. I am going to have to remember and tell K that nickname I had and see what he has to say. I am sure it will be some smart aleck comment which he is so good at!

Fish - what did Paul think of that nickname? I always think they are so funny especially when they are fitting! hehehe

Haha, I really don''t mind. Link all you want in the future, hon!

Whew

Ok so last night I was talking about the whole nickname thing with him and good ol me, couldn''t shut up and went on to talk about baby names and how us girls are discussing them in depth on my forum
20.gif
! I eased his mind a bit by saying that I told all of you he would probably freak at the mention of baby names. He became all defensive of course and said he didn''t flip its just too far in the future to try and fathom right now. Ha! I told him by the time he was 40 I had better have at least one rugrat running around! Ok well I should be getting ready for work and not posting nonsense here for all of you to have to read. Its just so much more fun!

I''m actaully suprised I didn''t see a "conor" in the list! Not my fave, but defeinitely popular now. Or I could be blind
2.gif
If M and I have a boy (chok! I need a girl!) it will probably be "Constantine" -- yeah, a big name for a kid, but it goes pretty well with the other boys'' names. I want Isabelle Moon for a girl --- he won''t hear of it. Also, for those of you thinking you have your baby names all picked out -- BEWARE! you change, the names you love change, etc .... And thank goodness, too, b/c I am so glad Adrian isn''t an Oliver
23.gif
(Although I like the name, still, it wouldn''t fit him at all!)

FWIW, my diamond and the 2 eternity bands finally made it to new york to Mark, although I haven''t heard from him yet. The USPS tracking told me so ... so the ball should once again be rolling :) It kinda bites not having the diamond around here to balance on my hand (I''m not alone!)
1.gif
, but the next time I see it, it will be the finished product! Unfortunately, I will not see any of it until the proposal -- he won''t even let me inspect it.
7.gif
I suppose it''ll be worth it.
Anyway, have a great evening!!! GO TAYLOR ON AI!!!!!!!!!
