Now, I haven't had time to read the entire thread so forgive me if I repeat... but I wonder if I am now an addict on a cycle, I gonna need a fix every couple of years.
I am getting a new setting, too which is a big deal for me.
It's a pretty classic solitaire with a nice side view. Now I realize how much the side view matters.
I gotta contact my vendor and ask him to email me some pics.

eta: my dh is a little puzzled by diamond-love, too. I just tell him, "honey, it's the gift that keeps giving! It entertains me EVERY DAY. When work is rotten or traffic is bad, I have my fireball to gaze into". The other thing I do is ENCOURAGE him to shop for guitars. (why do some guys like to collect guitars? I have no idea). He's gonna get a T-shirt that says "Many guitars- One Woman".

Since I have been tuned into Pricescope (about a year) you have been hinting about your upgrade, and I have been VERY curious to see what you would pick out.

I don''t think that there is anyone else here who balances/analyzes the cut/color/clarity/size issues better than you.

Your stone is jaw droppingingly, ginormous and gorgeous. I know that the ring will be breathtaking too.

Congrats and post pictures (hand shots, flower shots, bored Portia shots) as soon as soon as you are able.

I think that "almost ACA" stones are THE BEST. I was unable to tell the difference between superideal and ideal stones, even with a loupe. I was happy not to pay a premium for a stone that sparkled just as brightly as its more "superior" counterpart!

Mara, it''s BIG. It''s especially apparent in that last shot. Sometimes I find that the closer up the shot, the less able you are to really process its true size.

I've tried, JJ! I went into a few jewelry stores but no one had a 2.3c ... I saw a 2c and a 2.15c and a 2.5c but nothing in between...WAH. So I do have some idea. I was sad to say that the ~2c's didn't seem all that large, but I have seen Demelza's rings on her hand and she has a size 6 finger as well and her eternity bands looked fab and her 2.35c looked HUGE!!!! So I do still have hope and it will be a full 1mm larger so that is SOMETHING!! Hopefully.

Sunkist..I know it looks larger!! And YES I do have the diamond sickness!! We know this. hehee.

Jelly, planning another upgrade? You know I have my eye on your stone too girl!

It looks big to moi. Oh you are going to love this size I tell you. Big thing is you will be ringless for a while. Then BAM you get the ring and it''s ginormous to you. Seriously. That''s what happened to me when we upgraded and I still look at it and think it''s huge. No shrinkage for me. And it''s been 6 years.

It looks WAY huge. Honestly, your diamond right now is a really nice size but next to that 2.32 carat.... it's like moving from an apartment to a house.

It just looks... ROOMIER or more SPACIOUS. That's the thought that went through my head when I saw the side-by-side shots. Kind of like, "Ahhhhhhh!!!! Refreshing!" It's not just a gradual increase, it's a totally different level. That's how much bigger it seems to me. Wow. Your set looks VERY substantial now. More so than before!

It's a scene stealer. Are you prepared for double the attention? The setting really makes the stone look even bigger. Lots and lots of sparkle. But it's also a very classy, clean look. I love love love it! Now I'm thinking, "Don't change your setting!"

That stone is so pretty and the size is so big now -- what awesome replies are you going to use when some clueless people think it's fake? I might need to borrow some of your witty retorts. You've crossed over into the unbelievable range! That stone and set are huge and too gorgeous for the non-PS world to handle!

Anyway, YOU will see a diffence in a 2.3ct. I tried on a 2.36 I believe the diameter was around 8.66 (I think).. and trust me it was huge compared to the others I tried on which were around 2 cts or less. So if I could see the difference your definitely going to see it on your finger.

I don''t think the most recent size comparison pics are truly representative of the differential, so don''t have Greg start to panic just yet! I know you''ll be totally enamored when you get it (how long that will last I cannot say!).

For me, when I first got engaged (in 1989!), and I tried on rings, a carat just seemed so small to me! When I tried on a 2 ct., that felt like what a one carat seemed to be in my mind! I really think that this size will carry you through, even if you have to wait until the 10 year (or for 10 years, I can''t remember what you said!). Hey, you know I''m all about the size and I "hung on" with my 1.51 until year 13!!!

Also, I really think that when you get to your magic number (did you say 3.5 ct?? -- again, my memory is totally shot), I think you''ll be satisfied, in the sense that it will "feel right". I had that 3 ct. mark in my head for some reason for what seemed like forever, and then I ended up w/ a little larger (3.29), and I love the size (9.59mm).

I like the suggestion (sorry, again -- can''t rememer who said it yesterday) about thinking of the wait in terms of how many weekends -- that does really make it seem less!

I will be in Houston in spririt Mara ! know there will be bitter fights between Hubby and I when you and Aldjie are in Texas as he is finally home that week and will want the computer and I will be desperate to get on to follow the fun! Still even he knows you are upgrading so he might be generous and let me check in regularly, or he will have to use the laptop - I can't get the full savour of all the fun and sparklies on that!

Reagarding foodie yums, I was watching a show on Houston a while back about the all you can eat places and there was this guy who had been banned from most of them

He said that it was far cheaper for him to eat out than at home and said he was determined to get his $$'s worth. It was unbelievable the amount this guy could eat, 2 huge dinner plate size steaks, the same of fries, various side dishes AND dessert.....the funny thing was that he wasn't very overweight. He was actually proud of his banishment!

Good thing he doesn't live here, we don't have much in the way of all you can eats, normally the most exciting thing to have is a cheese roll and a packet of crisps down the pub! When I read the last WF trip thread you guys made me hungry describing the food!

Back on topic, did I mention that diamond is HUGE????????
