Satelite your story is the best!!!

I feel like such a beginner!

You are right that people will always be jealous...as long as we do what makes us happy, that is all that matters! Are you going to post your fabulous baubles? Esp those new earrings?! YUM!

Mara,
I had the Power Shot 400and it had an accident in my lab and I got the 550. I think either is excellent, the 550 is slightly larger and the screen feels massive. It is very user friendly and I am enjoying it. The only thing I would say is to pick which color you want, I like the silver one, but there is a beige/champagne color as well. If you order it off line just make sure that you get to pick the one you want. No matter what camera you have that baby is going to shine like mad!

Hi Mara,
I''m so frustrated, my boyfriend splurge on watches and feels that diamonds are useless little ornaments. Now try to convince a watch guy his wrong...grrrr! I try this angle and that angle...all I can say is, the day I actually get a diamond it will be headline news! MEN!!!! Hopefully he''ll admire the bling and change his mind about diamonds. Poor boyfriend, I''m also a diamondholic and I have not even received my first engagement ring. Nevertheless, we''re all very excited for you - YOU GO GIRL!!!

Yes I will definately post the earings. I hope to get them tomorrow or the next day. I am hopeless with technology but will use my mobile
phone if I have to.
Can''t wait
36.gif

i''ve been gone for a while from PS and coming back to this! all i can say is WOW!!

Mara, that diamond is amazing with a capital A!!!!

ur one lucky girl and Greg is real nice too ;)

congrats in advance on that beauty and ur 2 year anniversary!

Think of the time remaining in ''weekends'' not ''days'' =) thats what i do to make it seem so much shorter!! only 4 Sundays to go..thats it! ;)

Mara -- I am so late in chiming in but it looks like that is one sa-weet stone! Hey, us size 6 (finger that is) gals need something bigger to cover the real estate we do have!
31.gif
Of course, I could never convince my own husband of that, so it''s nice to be able to live vicariously though someone.
2.gif

I posted a thread a few days ago asking if one were to do it again, it they would stick with a warmer colored diamond. I myself thought about getting the same size diamond I already had but in a much higher color, but I realized I couldn''t do it without also going up is SIZE! These warmer colors are just too good to pass up, and after checking out several colors at my jeweler the other day, I discovered I much prefer the warmer colors anyway.

Can''t wait to see the finished product! I think it will be just stunning!

Mara,

Congrats on your new ring!!!!

I am trying to convince my hubby on a upgrade and this will be my 3rd one since we got engaged 10/2004 and we''ve only been married since 9/2005.

I have 2.02 J SI2 Radiant now, and craving a 3+ carat something (size-whore too) :) !

My friends are like be happy with what you have............ and I will be once I get a ring bigger then Star Jones! he he he!

I WANT A 3 OR 4 CARAT Princess or Radiant!!!!!!!!!

Our poor poor hubbies! Dani and I were joking in another thread that they need a support group! Hi my name is Greg and my wife is a diamondaholic.
11.gif

HEE HEE mine would join for sure! I sent him a link to an awful diamond the other day and he said he cringed with fear when he saw the link with the word DIAMOND on it!
41.gif
Once he opened the link however, he felt instantly at ease when he saw the actual rock as he knew he was off the hook this time
31.gif
I think Hubby suffers from a new mental condition known as Diamond Dread actually!

haha thanks gals!!! i gotta me one of those canons in the next month!!

ries, don't worry girl, you are looking at LOVELY massive stones for your own bauble, can't wait to see the finished result and you are doing it right, aka spend it all at once! hehee.

pebbles, yes i am loving me some of the warmer stones as well, i actually feel lucky that i am more like that that a colorless lover because it DOES allow me to have what i want without breaking the bank! plus seriously with a picture like that first one i posted, any worries about 'icy white' to me were instantly disappated.

lorelei, lol ... so we experience DS syndrome and the men experience DD syndrome!!!
41.gif

msb..i like that idea, weekends instead of days. also this month is fairly busy, i'm painting this weekend and getting ready because greg's sister is coming the weekend of the 21-24. so the next 2 weekends will be busy and then her visit, and then one more week until the visit!

YMA..size whores unite!
9.gif

Mara, you just name the time and the place and I''m sure my DH will be there in a jiffy!!!
9.gif
Good grief, he needs SOMEONE who understands what he''s dealing with here!

You are well on your way to having a collection. First you concentrate on your e-ring and then mention other shapes that you would love to have (but not as your e-ring) to Greg and as the years fly by he''ll start showering you with all of the different shapes of diamonds! (And you might want to upgrade those too. So it''s never really over!) He sounds so much like my hubby that I don''t have a doubt about it. But don''t tell him I said that!
2.gif
DO tell him that I think he''s a sweetheart for indulging you!

I am so excited for you!

Our hubbies suffer from Diamond Dread, yes...but they also know how to push our buttons when needed. Case in point: if I'm distracted or busy doing something and DH can't get my attention, all he does is say, "DIAMONDS!" And my head whips around as I answer, "Yes honey? What can I do for you?"
11.gif

I've started doing the same thing right back to him, only I say, "Porsche!" (or "Golf!" or "Kansas City Chiefs!").......And I've got his full attention.
9.gif

LOK Kristy, Greg does the same thing to me. If I''m not paying attention and he is talking to me, suddenly he goes ''oh honey i think that we should upgrade your diamond to even bigger!'' and then I do the head whip going ''What''d you say?''...HAH! and he just laughs. Devils! The lot of them!

Di..hehe the fact that you feel like Greg sounds like your DH gives me HOPE for the future aka the showering of baubles will commence at some point?! When did you guys have kids? hehee.

NO WAY! They only got bigger after I gave him a son!!!!! Okay, so it''s the only child I''ve been able to give him but atleast it was a son! haha

Actually, when I had my son I wasn''t as "addicted" as I am now so maybe that doesn''t count. (BTW, my son is about to turn 15 in a few weeks.) All I can say is that he spoils the both of us rotten (as well as himself) and I cannot be more thankful for choosing someone like him. I know that they are a "diamond a dozen"! hehehe

I can''t imagine that Greg would ever cut you off. He HAS to know (children or no children) that that would be devastating!
39.gif
6.gif
Nope, I just don''t see that in the cards for you! Hooray!
36.gif

I''m a bit late getting into this thread, but congratulations on your new upgrade. I''m looking forward to seeing it in the setting.

Thanks Di, your congrats means alot coming from the ultimate diamond queen around these parts! Someday I will be like you. Someeedayyyy. Our poor poor hubbies! Dani and I were joking in another thread that they need a support group! Hi my name is Greg and my wife is a diamondaholic.
11.gif

Thanks BrightSpot and Diamond Quester!

Yes, we can organize a national support group for our husbands/FI''s that have to deal with all of our our obsessive diamond compulsions...I am already talking about our upgrade and we are not even married yet!

And Mara I thought of you last Sat (April fools day). Brian and I went out for dinner and I told him I needed to tell him about a secret that I have been keeping from him. I then proceeded to tell him that I contacted Mark (at engringsdirect, where he bought my stone) and had him start looking for my upgrade for me...You should have seen Brian''s face- he was like "what?" "I thought we were going to wait till AFTER the wedding?!" I felt so bad, I actually had to let him know it was an AFD joke...but I really wanted it to be true! SO BAD!

But at least I REALLY planted the seed....
11.gif
ha ha

HA HA Dani, you go girl!!! That is sooo the way to start laying the groundwork, joking around about it and then going 'oh yeah til after the wedding, of course'...and then marking the DAY after the wedding on your calendar to start going 'oh so i can upgrade now?'....tee hee!!! these poor poor men!!!
11.gif

Wow Mara! I just came to SMTR to see some goodies and saw this thread!! You totally deserve the upgrade. Can''t wait to see hand pics!

You know I SO did it on purpose! What can I say, I''ve learned from the best!

Ha - I work on the old saying that familiarity breeds contempt ( especially with upgrades....
41.gif
) Mention it well in advance and refer to it from time to time not as IF but WHEN you upgrade, then they forget they might have had reservations and just go along with it!
11.gif
Especially if you get a noncommital grunt from Hubby the first time, it opens the door right up for further hinting and " grooming" to see things your way!
12.gif
Oh and a drop of fine wine doesn't hurt either - right Mara?????

Good job Dani!
3.gif

hee hee wine certainly does not hurt Lorelei!!! Dani tonite I told Greg about your April Fools Joke and he was like ''these poor men!!'' so I told him about the support group...hahaa. OH and I told him how Di says he sounds like her dear hubby and I mentioned that one day it''d be nice to have a 5c eternity band in my STOCKING too.

FLOD I know it''s not a crooning bald eagle but it shore is purty!!

Mara:

Size-whore-J-lovin'' what? OMG how funny are you???? I can''t help it, I''m a size matters girl too...I''ll forsake a few letters for a few mm''s. Tee hee.

wOW! What an upgrade!! Same setting (love love love your setting with the diamonds all the way around)

Yes! It is me! I''m back! You guessed right! I redesigned my ring (it was never chipped...my husband would have been devastated) and I''m looking for a thread to post my wax images on...its AWESOME!

Been busy...cooked me up a baby...he''s about 15 months now...keeps me on my toes, but oh...his eyes sparkle like an E, IF, 2ctw set of stones. LOL...

Ok...gonna post pics...let us know what you set that big bad boy in..

LMAO! Another plus is you can look at your sparklie all week, not just Tuesdays and Wednesdays!

Mara, you''re my diamond heroine! Here you go, getting us all worked up in a frenzy over your new upgrade. I''m slip-sliding here in my own drool. Whadda knockout!! Counting down the days until May....(sigh). Can''t wait to see the finished deal- we all know it''ll be a real beauty!

Seriously, Mara. You''re the freakin'' queen of upgrades! You just happen upon the most lovely of stones! COngratulations!

BTW, when are you going to be in Houston in May? I''m thinking of heading down to visit my sister-in-law (and see WF in person), and thought we might be able to catch you and your hubby at the same time. :)

Mara, that J is to die for!!!!!!
30.gif
It looks like it is on fire w/ sparkle! I am upgrading to who know what shape, probably a round, but worry about upgrading after that - what happens to the 1st diamond? Do I sell it back to the jeweler?
Lately, I saw radiant, a princess and a round. I actually thought the round looked pretty big for a 1.30, 7.27 mm?? i think?
and the jeweler thinks the radiants actually lose size on top bec. the weight is concentrated on the bottom.

If I did go for a round, what the heck is the difference between an ACA or H&A? Are they both the same? because Good Old Gold offers H&A and yet I like how your ACA looks, amazing sparkle - that's what I want. But I'd like to see it in person..

20.gif
p.s. I love love love your picture! That ice cream looks amazing......
18.gif
is it strawberry or peach?

WHEN IS IT COMING??????

I wanna see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can''t wait!

Mara --
Why are you not sending your ring to WF now (along w/ prong/basket photos you like), so that when you arrive there next month it will be waiting for you, ready to go?!

Mara, your upgrade is going to be HOT!

I like the six prongs better too!

Firstly Mara, Congratulations on your new stone.

I too sympathise with the upgrade bug.

When I met my husband six years ago he said ''you don''t wear jewelerly''

I said no. Just costume stuff that''s fun that I can change when I get sick of it.

When we got engaged he thought he''d buy me 1.5ct diamond. I really really wanted a

2.0ct so the poor guy agreed. My husband''s business partners wife was really pipped that I

had a bigger diamond than hers so her husband had to get her a new right hand ring. Around 1.5cts.

After discovering Pricescope I decided the quality and cut of my stone wasn''t good enough so I upgraded

to a 3.02ct D SI1 excellent cut stone which I simply adore. The partner''s wife was livid. She then added

1.0ct to either side of her 1.5ct rhr so she now has a 3 stone.

For my 50th birthday a few months ago my husband knowing my fetish for diamonds bought me a 5.1/2 ct

tennis bracelet. The partners wife got a new tennis bracelet for Xmas and would you believe it was smaller than mine.

Next time I saw her she had a new tennis bracelet bigger than mine!!!!!

Not to be deterred I then ordered another 2.0ct diamond to match the original stone and will be getting my new 4.06tcw

earings tomorrow. They are stunning with diamonds on the claws and on Saturday night I will launch them at my step-sons

engagement party.

The funny thing is, the wife will be there. Poor Pete (the husband of her''s) I hate to think what he will have to cough up next

time.

So Mara, what I am saying is, there is never enough. I am already planning the rhr which I think will be a Pear. Other people will

always be jealous. My husband loves boats so I encourage his delight in them as that gives me the chance to buy more diamonds.

When others complain about my diamond fetish I remind them of Liz Taylor who was given a ruby and diamond tiarra from Richard Burton

one day when she was swimming in her pool. She slipped it on her head and dived back in the pool.

As I remind people. I''m not that extravagant.

So enjoy.

ROFL! Best. Story. Ever. Love how you''re having a "launch" for your earrings!

Very cool. Very cool.

"Change is good!" (Or at least, that''s my mantra!) Enjoy.

heeh wow you girls were anxious today!! i came home to a flurry of posts!

headlight, the reason i am not sending my ring and having them work on it now is because i HATE mailing my ring...seriously it totally stresses me out. so i would much rather just wait and hand deliver it to WF and know that when they send it out when it''s completed, it will be to me the next day and insured vs when i send it out and have to wait a week on pins and needles wondering if it''s arrived.

plus honestly i don''t mind waiting a little longer!! part of the fun is the excitement buildup for me as well.

Lauren, we''ll be in May the 4-6th...and it will actually be me and Aljdewey again, not Greg, though he is kind of whining as to why he can''t come along..I was like do you REALLY want to hang out with two diamond obsessed freaks for 3 days? i mean come on you live with one, could you survive another? that shut him up quick!!

jewelgal...this is actually not an ACA! it''s an almost ACA which means it didn''t meet Brian''s stringent ACA criteria but that''s okay, my last 2 stones have been ES''s and they are all stunning and i know that whatever he sees lacking, normal eyes totally can''t see and it makes for a better priced stone as well. it''d be nice to have an ACA one day but honestly visually to me they look the same...very hard to pick out of a lineup..i tried!

hehe you gals are too cute, every time i see more posts to this i get excited. oh and also i talked to leon about the head and he seems to think that something like jcrow''s head would work and he can also modify and round out my rectangle metal piece that the head sits on to make it more ''fluid'' and match with the new head. i''m so excited about that!! he said that he will have something ready for me to look at when we get there so that i can get an idea of how it will look on my ring!
