CONGRATULATIONS, MARA!!!!

That is one HUGE HONKER. I doubt you''ll get shrinkage for the next 5-10 years!

WOWOWOWOW.

Congrats! How beautiful! You deserve it! I can''t wait for the hand pics!!!!!!!

I can just tell --soon you''ll be upgrading your eternity too! LOL.

What a stunner.

The more I look at Mara's new honker I really doubt that it is shrinkable - it looks so huge!
3.gif
BTW Mara thats for me to know and you to find out hee hee!!!
11.gif

hahaha oh i think anything is shrinkable, here is miss julian with her breathtaking 3c stone and recently she said something in a thread that was something along the lines of ''oh it seemed small to me when i first got it because i was expecting a 3.5c!!''....
2.gif
i thought oh okay i''m not SO bad!!

Lorelei, lol are they difficult?

I'm not Lorelei ... but I'm thinking, depending on the size ... you might get a couple of black eyes out of doing them!
emembarrassed.gif

haha Ms Darlin Joy...Mata's stone got me excited about my own up-and-coming and here I was doing holding the secret so well until that thread!! It's okay though because sharing this with everyone here on PS has *really* got me anxious for April to pass now...

Oh my gosh ... I still can't believe that you were holdin' out on us! There is absolutely no way that I would be able to keep it in ... I definately would have caved! Mara ... Let the excitement consume you! You have every right to jump up & down and giddily laughing ... you have one heck of a gorgeous stone comming!
30.gif

I was in a cathedral last nite for a charity event that Greg was playing in the orchestra for (beautiful choiral mass) and those recessed lights were setting my rings on fire. There is nothing like church lighting and this was the best I've seen. I was playing with my rings during the lulls in between and thinking OMG what will the 2.32 look like? And I was getting really excited.
30.gif

Mara, I can just imagine the rainbows
emrainbow.gif
that your diamond was throwing off ... I bet the people were wondering if this was "a sign" from above! Just imagine what your huge gorgeous 2+ J is going to do
emsmiled.gif
! It's going to throw of Beacons of rainbows

We will all have to go thank Matatora for gettin your feathers a lil' ruffled ... glad you didn't hold out much longer
11.gif
9.gif
... you really might have needed that "funny" jacket ... 'Ya know!

Mara, I''ve been super busy these days and haven''t had time to post much on PS lately but DANG!!!! You are indeed a very lucky gal!!!

Your new babay is STUNNING.
23.gif

I am literally gobsmacked - it is so white and delicious!

I can''t wait until you have the ring made and give us more eye candy to drool over.

Ms DJ...I know I sure was daydreaming last nite. Today I am wearing my e-ring on it''s own to give it a bit of the spotlight. Do we REALLY need 2 rings? hehe.

LH I''m glad you checked in to see this! The sad part is that I don''t even think that this 2.32 on my size 6 finger will look as big as your 1.65 on your mini size 2.5!!
39.gif
Finger lipo!!

here is another idea that i had in the last day or so for a new head, mrs jam''s side view in the 2c-3c thread made me think of it. i love the huge flattish cupped spread from the side, i could have WF thin it out a bit, match the polish to my ring, and make sure it would fit on my ring and still allow my w-ring to sit flush? hmm now im torn between the LLL head and something more like this. oh and my photoshop skills are not the greatest so I figure the real thing would be much better!

my goal here is to make the stone look as large as possible and still have a ''cool'' side view with not too much detail going on. also to make the stone look large from the side. i don''t like how my current setting squishes the stone and pushes it up from the side and just looks plunked on.

maras ring with mrs jams head more realistic.jpg

This head seems to look better on your ring than the other one IF they could thin it out - maybe tone it down a bit. The scallop of this head flows with the edge of your ering better IMO. I really like the other head but when you are working with a preexisting ring you sort of have to find something that works with it.

If it''s size you are going for, I think this one looks spreadier. Would your band still fit flush with this head?

I just wrote something else and got a big error message - oh well!

I was trying to say that the other head looks more stuck on than this one. This one looks like it flows up out of the shank instead of being plopped on. I guess because the head starts with a bigger base.

Can you photoshop a picture of the new stone on the two rings together? It would be nice to see how the diameter of the new stone fits the two rings together. I have NO photoshop skills - maybe you can do it.

actually ana just sent me this because she thinks my head will have to be a little higher than the other one due to my little metal peg area for the flushness...

i figure WF can kind of mess around with the idea, and give me the ''look'' i want in general but make it fittable onto my rings and flushness etc... i will be leaving both rings with them in may so that they can make sure that it works out.

ana mockup.jpg

Well, the bucket idea is doable but if you have to have it raised much higher it too may have that stuck on look. Course the folks at WF can work with it too - if they know pretty much what you want then they can try to accomodate. She is probably right though - in order to flush fit your band the whole head will have to set higher. That is probably my only complaint with my PrecisionSet mounting - but it has to be higher for other rings to sit flush. I had my new stone put into that mounting and the two side stones should probably have been stretched out a bit. I met the owner of PS at an event and he offered to do it for me but said it was such a small nuance that he didn''t think it would matter. He doesn''t know how anal I am - I live for small nuances!!!

The more I look at that second head the more I really like it - even with the ''bucket''! I love that cupped look!

well MGR my existing head looks stuck on as it is, so i would love to NOT have that look with this next head but i don''t know how much they can do to change what i have to work with, we''ll have to see. but i do like that 2nd one that i posted, with the bucket....i love the cupped look of the prongs definitely. i don''t mind it sitting higher as it does right now because i do have the little thing on it to help it sit flush with my w-ring. so i''m already used to a higher setting, as long as it''s not super high.

I think this one looks very pretty, and IMO works better with the existing set better the Jcrows head. Maybe they could make something that rises fluidly out of the smaller space sort of like a jonquil vs a rose?

Or I could just not make sense at all...

Major reconstruction surgery?
4.gif

(not that I know if such a thing can be done, or is worth thinking about rather than starting from scratch; laser welding works close to pave / diamonds but on small things... and I hardly know what I am talking about)

MaraMWMSpliceII.JPG

I know I don''t want major reconstruction surgery!!

I may send Leon at WF your pics Ana and see what he thinks can be done, if anything, to achieve that kind of spready side look with a flush fit!

Wow Ana - you''re great! Will the little piece under the head have to be on both sides? I guess it would if you wanted to be able to not have a ''right'' way to wear the band with the ering. I think that gives a great side view - expands the look as much as possible - and gives some detail that you wouldn''t ordinarily have with a solitaire. That''s whats so appealing to me with the Tiffany ring - and yet that ring doesn''t look real good on my hand looking down from the top.

Oh well Mara you have some time until May and time until you have to make the final decision. I definitely think you are moving in the right direction though!

Guess so. Those lower spready baskets cure spin, and make rings comfortable IMO... but forget about 1.5mm band flush with the wedding band. And they are lower set too... although this is a fairly large diamond, it would definitely not get lost!
31.gif

Can almost hear the answer from WF: "Hei, doesn''t that girl know that rings are not made out of paper!!?". Right... I wouldn''t bet on feasibility here unless it was an entirely new project

WOW Mara. I love your new stone!!! This is the best J I have even seen, soooo white!!!

OMG! Away for the wkend and I come back to this
3.gif

Congratulations on your upgrade Mara! That''s one gorgeous looking rock
36.gif

I haven''t checked in in a while and I am pleasantly surprised to find that Mara you''ve found your new diamond upgrade! I can''t wait to see your new diamond and how you''re going to revamp your setting!
36.gif

mara!

that stone looks like quite the find.

i second mrs. jam''s head (if possible) -- i love how it looks from both the side and the top views
emstar.gif

thanks gals!!! i emailed leon at WF to see what he thinks about the mrs. jam head on my ring so we''ll see...i''m hoping we can have some sort of design epiphany on how to make it work on my ring!!

gosh now i am so revved up about it, how will i wait another month??

You''ll just have to drink lots of wine for a month to keep yourself calm . . .

whew..my head is spinning from all the photoshop creativity going on
9.gif
. I''m interested to hear what WF says. Maybe it will all be so much trouble and $ it''d be cheaper to just get the Ritani solitaire you''re wanting
11.gif

oh, and since several of us are getting their new/upgraded stones this spring, I had to have a little talk with hubby about the timing of my own
20.gif
. We have so much "life" going on, i am trying to talk him into letting me upgrade in increments rather than waiting and waiting, and waiting for the big one. So, you all can say you PS prayers for plan b
9.gif
. That way we can get what we can afford now AND have room to upgrade again in the future

haha, I was wondering how you will wait another month too!

And, I don''t believe for one minute that this is THE STONE for 8 years! Not unless you go crazy and get baby fever or something like that...
3.gif

Hopefully you''ll be happy at this size for a while though. I would be! That is some serious bling going on... I can''t wait to see hand pics!

Of all people, I''m sure Mara will find a loophole in the 8-years-next-upgrade agreement! ;)

I know what you mean, though. I have no idea how in the world I''m going to wait until the end of April/early May for my LM ring! My finger feels naked with out my ring. Thank goodness I still have my original e-ring to serve as stand-in! It''s 1 size too big though, and the swinging is bugging the heck outta me!

I like the cupped look of those heads that Ana posted. I''m a sucker for the curvy look!

Mara, how in the world are you going to be able to wait for that beauty?

Do you imagine how much bigger your new stone will look like every time you look at your current e-ring?
This is so exciting!!!!

What happened to your yearning for a more simpler setting?
41.gif
I know, I know! Choices, choices!

Oh, Mara! That stone is gorgeous. Congrats. Can''t wait to see it set!
36.gif

I don''t know how I will manage to wait out this last month...biting my nails I guess.

I hope that this stone will either last me the 8 years OR we''ll have some spectacular financial year around year 5 or 6 (tee hee) and maybe I can finagle into something larger then. Us PS''ers always plotting and planning!

Julian, I may want a lovely solitaire setting (I know Mrs S that Ritani is so calling my name) but there is no way Greg would go for a whole new setting and a new stone right now. He is already saying how spoiled I am so if I tried to get a new setting he''d probably just lock me away in a dark closet for the next 8 years. hehehe. Also he''s sentimental about my set and I think secretly I kind of am too so I figure maybe in a few years if I am still banned from upgrading then a new setting would be a fun way to jazz up the existing stone or something like that. We''ll see. The fun part is that there ARE other options...too many infact!
