LOL Lorelei...I got my husband twice this morning.... so I'm on the look out.... #1 I told him I left our Atlantic City tickets at work and don't have the keys...(going to the Borgata tonight and seeing a comedy show tonight and dinner at Old Homestead!)... and #2 was Oh, the people at Goldman Sachs called last night (he is consulting there and there were some software issues about something yesterday) and I watched him momentarily poop his pants LOL

Ally, and here I am already wondering if the 2.32 will be big enough for a while...hehe go as big as you can IMO esp if you are not going to halo it. Shrinkage is a real disease!

JL...re: my old diamond, well one of my friends will probably get engaged soon and she really would love my diamond, but she's gotta convince her boyfriend, he wants to get her something smaller/cheaper, but pickins are slim right now and she loves my stone so she is like why not a 1.6 J SI2 for a bargain compared to what is out there now in 1.5 I VS range or whatever. the price difference is huge. so we'll see, otherwise it'll be back at WF and someone will get VERY lucky with a beautiful SI2. i surely will miss this stone, it's stunning.

Oh and DL I will try to do a hand shot in Texas when we see the stone for some comparison. But yes that comparison shot that WF sent me sold me for sure right away.

I remember when the 1.6 upgrade snuck up on us (you SNEAK!!!) and here you are again....and my GOD, this is a winner!!! I am so intrigued to see what the new head will look like on your existing band. And I think this baby is going to look HUGE--hope it will hold for 8 years too, but I agree that a 3-stone is a loop-hole. (Or in the meantime you can get going on that asscher RHR!!

Mara, my DH said to tell you that you are such a bad influence in the nicest way.

I got new toe rings for the summer, and he was like

. I told him about yours and he was laughing about when I get mine. I told him about your upgrade, and he wanted to know on the record that my ring was done and enough. I avoided answering so he asked again. I had to say yes, but I said that I want earrings and a pendant (he quashed the last one for the time being)

. I also said that my ring is done when I have one or maybe two matching bands to flank my halo.

On the bright side, he didn''t flip out.

You are my HERO!!! I also love Greg and I don''t even know him.

haha monarch, i love the creative ideas you give me for future picture shots. trust me when i get this baby, i will be taking lots of pictures of it at all sorts of funky angles and positions!!

today i was trying to think about more head options, i really want a spready look from the side and this is my chance to get that in a head on my existing ring.

Greg really is understanding about my ''sickness'' because he has one himself with his love of old cars, trucks etc. the irony is that at least after the investments in his babies, they are useful, aka they can be driven around and used for transportation. what does my bauble do? sparkles.

annie i really hope we can see you while we are in houston!! maybe you can meet us at WF for a visit if the timing doesn''t work out for drinks or whatever.

inluv...i think that because Greg knew that i was a diamond nut while we were shopping and he saw how ''into it'' i got...he knew what he was getting into!! i made no bones about the fact that i wanted a larger diamond even from the beginning.

though a huge part of why he agreed to let me do this upgrade this year is because of the price hikes and how the prices have risen from even just last year. last year a diamond like this one would have been probably a few thousand cheaper, sadly enough. so while of course i want the bigger bauble ASAP, the price hikes really were the main determination for him on ''if you really want to do this, lets do it now so it''s done and we don''t overpay'' kind of thing. it would totally have burned me mentally to pay like $2k more next year for the same stone. the scary thing is who knows what the diamond market will look like in a few years or 8 years from now when my year 10 rolls around! up or down, maybe up up up??

So this is real and NOT April Fool''s!

After you dropped hints the other day, I was going to tell you that if you weren''t going to share the stone until May that we would all silence you until then! HA!

I am glad to see that you found a stone you like - you might as well go for the gold at this point with diamond prices soaring the way they have. You are absolutely correct - who knows what they may be in 8 to 10 years. This will certainly be a respectable size diamond so that even if you are ''stuck'' with it or other priorities come up in the next few years you could still be happy. Adding side stones at some point may give you everything you want. I know from experience that as the years go by tastes change - the 3.5 may look divine to you now but in ten years may not be something that you crave. Time will tell.

Good luck to you - I like your ideas thus far about a new head. I would imagine that the diamond would cover the ering and the wedding band in the front - need to put your new diamond over the old one in the pictures so we can get an idea!

I think it''s funny that you had been saying last year that you were gonna upgrade next spring - and you really meant it. The second we could call it spring out here you were already on top of it! MGR i know what you mean about this being a good size ''just in case''...I mean anything can happen in the next few years or so...maybe come year 10 I will decide that spending something like double to get a 3.5c is not worth it...you know maybe if I had a lobotomy or something..haha! No but really, who knows. I do agree though, like if ''life'' has other plans for us than sparkly baubles, I would not mind being ''stuck'' with a 2.32 that is for sure. A different setting, or side stones, or whatever can always made it look different or bigger in the future.

LOL sarita, Alj was just telling me the other day, in an unrelated conversation, that I was one of the only people she knew that says she will do something and MEANS IT.

When I got the 1.6c in 2005 it was not that expensive to upgrade at all, maybe $600? And we did it that way because I wanted to get the ~2c stone last year but the budget just wasn''t happening and I thought well if I do this jump it will tide me over for another year or so and it''s only $600. So I pitched it to Greg but I told him that as soon as I could I wanted to make the bigger jump. So he was kind of prepped for ''spring'' this year but I started relaying the groundwork both with him and WF in FALL of last year!! This stuff takes time and I had no idea how long it would take to find the right stone. Considering that WF has only had something like 4-5 2c+ J SI stones in the last year or so, and I knew I wanted as close to 2.5c as possible, so I figured if one came up I''d have to jump on it.

Kaleigh I posted the potential new head on page 2 but I''m still thinking about it!! There are so many options of beautiful heads out there!

haha Ms Darlin Joy...Mata''s stone got me excited about my own up-and-coming and here I was doing holding the secret so well until that thread!! It''s okay though because sharing this with everyone here on PS has *really* got me anxious for April to pass now...I was in a cathedral last nite for a charity event that Greg was playing in the orchestra for (beautiful choiral mass) and those recessed lights were setting my rings on fire. There is nothing like church lighting and this was the best I''ve seen. I was playing with my rings during the lulls in between and thinking OMG what will the 2.32 look like? And I was getting really excited.

Congrats on the new precious....and I think the size diff is so large that I bet you will have no shrinkage issues for a while if ever and will be quite happy with it...(although I do admit that while I am.. was? ... LOL happy with my size, I just found myself looking for cushions on blue nile...walk away from the lap top more. Walk away...this place is the devil)
