I am so impressed at how good you are at planning ahead and waiting.
I just get so impulsive and ...boom... things happen.

Mara!! You LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY girl!!! I am soooo excited for you..I mean I knew this was happening eventually this year but a carat size jump..I am GREEN with diamond envy

.
You must be over the moon to find such a gorgeous stone and I really don''t know how you''re going to wait so long. We really must get together..I have never seen a J in person and in that size, I wouldn''t miss it for the world! Do you know any good babysitters??
I told my hubbie about your upgrade and he gave me the evil look ~~~ "don''t even think about it hunny!"
I can''t wait to see pics of the final ring. I liked the mark morell head on it but I really like the LLL head on it as well. Have you decided yet?

jeez, it took this thread hitting 7 pages before I finally looked at it...then I realized what it was about.

Whoa girl, amazing diamond. I can''t wait to see the completed ring. Congratulations...something I can only dream of right now
5.gif

haha slammie, i''m sure your hubby is like ''damn that mara!'' ... we should definitely hook up as i would LOVE to see your fabulous rock and ring as well!!! and girl aren''t you getting a brand new right hand ring with a cushion or something? so you are definitely getting your OWN upgrade in a way! lucky gal!

dgaap...i don''t know how patient i feel right about now!
2.gif
talk to me in a week!!

rms...hehee i know the title of my thread may be misleading, but isn''t it fun to be surprised? it''s like oh whats this thread and OH look!!!
31.gif

Good God! A girl goes away for a few days and LOOKIE what happens ... WOWZA. That mama is MONSTEROUS! And whiter than the whitest ICY white sparklers. (Pie-scoffers ... seriously ... I see nothing but WHITE)

I dunno what MYSTICAL elixir you''re slipping Greg, but bottle it & put it on EBAY toot-sweet. Some people become "life coaches" ... have ya ever considered a new career as an "upgrade facilitator"??

seriously, Greg is such a SWEETIE. Seeing your huge rock makes me wish I used the dosh for an upgrade instead of the RHR..it''s being made at quest as we speak.
Have you seen tiger007''s leon ring? I love the buttercup head on it. I was actually going to suggest that as a option for yours. Whaddya think??

I don't know how I will manage to wait out this last month...biting my nails I guess.
AAAAGH! Just thinking of it as how many sleeps you have to endure Mara! About 30 or so??
32.gif
14.gif
Never mind, it will be SO worth it!
11.gif
DO NOT BITE THEM NAILS GIRL - you need them to look pretty to accentuate Big J !!

I agree Lorelei - don''t even think about it!

It''s smashing - I think you need to shop for a new purse to hold for when you''re showing off your new fireball
27.gif

Wow, busy weekend - how did I miss seven pages of Mara''s upgrade!!??!!

It is fabulous! I am generally not a size gal for myself, but as someone else said, you might be a bad influence on me!!
2.gif
Although luckily you also make me appreciate my diamond more, even though it is "just" a 1.1 ct, as it has many of the exact same specs as your new one. (The good news is, with those specs, most people think it''s bigger than 1.1 ct.) It will be exciting to see which head you choose, and to see hand-pics!! It is going to be so gorgeous. And I laughed at the idea of the note cards: "Appropriate responses to Mara''s upgrade." That is a great idea, and I''m tempted to do that when I get my new setting.

Congratulations!

Starset - Miss Mara already has her Louis Vuitton Coussin ( if I remember rightly!) and has her eye on another LV yummy! So she should be all set there!
41.gif

Welcome to PS BTW
35.gif

Lorelei, don''t even remind me on how many sleeps there are...as of today it''s about 30 before I even get to SEE the bauble!! hehee. Oh and trust me I won''t be touching the nails, I am already working on growing them out.
31.gif
Oh and if I can finagle it I want to get a new camera before I get the new bauble..!! Mine is totally dying out and I know Canons take the BEST diamond pictures around here so we''ll see.
11.gif

LOL Erin...there are NO new purses on my horizons!! In fact I was so bummed, I noticed a scratch on my new LV the other day and I have only had it a month!
39.gif
Greg said to take it in and see if they can repair it, but to me it''s SO obvious, it''s on the front of the bag and it''s a horizontal line about and inch and a half long, it looks like something rubbed on it and ate away the brown, SO bummed.

Slammie, Greg sure is a sweetie but so is your hubby miss RHR. I think that you will be happy you went for the RHR after the project is complete. Esp if you plan to wear it all the time! Your lovely fingers are so small, your 2c looks monstrous!

Last nite I was reading Greg some of the responses here on HOW GREAT HE IS, he sure liked hearing that. Then I read him Lynn''s comment about how they sob and he scowled at the computer!
6.gif
Haha it made me laugh. I was like OH SWEETIE we are just playing around, you guys are the best ever *ego stroke* don''t worry I''m not getting a new setting (just yet)....
11.gif

Upgrade facilitator, what a great idea Deco...I could teach a class for recalcitrant men, what would women pay for that? hehee.

Canons? Which model?

MGR...I think I was looking at the PowerShot 550....something like that!! It just seems like every time someone on here takes great pictures of their rings or stones they are 90% of the time using a Canon!!

Mara I received the Canon Powershot SD550 for Christmas and I love it! We need you to be ready to take the best possible pictures when that new diamond is set in your beautiful mounting!!!

Thanks - I need to get one too so I might as well get one that takes good diamond pics - kids are grown - Chloe is tired of being photographed so that leaves sparklies!

oooh good to know sundial, yes the reviews on it seem to be very good!! my old sony cybershot is from like 4 years ago! time to upgrade that too.
9.gif

OOOOH, camera question! Regarding that Canon model, how close to the object being photographed can you get???! And does it have a super-macro mode? (I have seen/heard of some cameras that have, not just the regular macro mode, but a second [super] macro one, too.) Of course right now I have NO macro at all... one would think I would be happy someday with just ONE macro... but OHHHH NOOOO... I want it ALL, baby!!!

Haha, Mara, I forgot to tell ya'' that MY DH didn''t find my comment especially hilarious, either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay Mara, so I''ve missed this thread 7 pages later!!!! It''s only taken me two days to read it all! WOW! What an incredible diamond you found. It''s so white and clean and HUGE!!!!!!! You just crack me up with your upgrading because you sound just like me. Although I don''t think I was over 2 cts in 2 years!
6.gif
That is so awesome! And your hubby is sooooo understanding of all of this nonsense. I love it! He sounds just like my hubby. You are a very lucky lady indeed.

I''m kinda thinking that with the ''over hang'' of that monster diamond you might just need another eternity ring for the other side!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on finding such a beauty and lordy, lordy, lordy I can''t wait to see it when it''s done. Could you hurry up already!!!!!
11.gif

Mara, congrats on finding that beautiful diamond! You are lucky to have such a supportive husband. Can''t wait to see your final ring!

I''m guessing about six inches Lynn. If you get too close the pics turn out blurry. You can crop them though using photo software. The Canon SD550 has a macro mode but not a second super macro so you may want to look elsewhere.

Oh Lynn, if this helps...Dem has the Canon PS 350 I think and we have seen how well HER fabulous diamond shots come out...that is kind of what sold me on a Canon PS!

Mara, I just found your thread & all I can say is W
30.gif
W!!!!

Your new diamond looks absolutely amazing & I love the new head for your ring. Greg is a sweet, sweet boy!

Congrats on your upcoming 2 year anniversary & your upgrade. I hope the wait for your new baby isn''t too agonizing...

Thanks Di, your congrats means alot coming from the ultimate diamond queen around these parts! Someday I will be like you. Someeedayyyy. Our poor poor hubbies! Dani and I were joking in another thread that they need a support group! Hi my name is Greg and my wife is a diamondaholic.

Thanks BrightSpot and Diamond Quester!

Firstly Mara, Congratulations on your new stone.
I too sympathise with the upgrade bug.
When I met my husband six years ago he said "you don''t wear jewelerly"
I said no. Just costume stuff that''s fun that I can change when I get sick of it.
When we got engaged he thought he''d buy me 1.5ct diamond. I really really wanted a
2.0ct so the poor guy agreed. My husband''s business partners wife was really pipped that I
had a bigger diamond than hers so her husband had to get her a new right hand ring. Around 1.5cts.
After discovering Pricescope I decided the quality and cut of my stone wasn''t good enough so I upgraded
to a 3.02ct D SI1 excellent cut stone which I simply adore. The partner''s wife was livid. She then added
1.0ct to either side of her 1.5ct rhr so she now has a 3 stone.
For my 50th birthday a few months ago my husband knowing my fetish for diamonds bought me a 5.1/2 ct
tennis bracelet. The partners wife got a new tennis bracelet for Xmas and would you believe it was smaller than mine.
Next time I saw her she had a new tennis bracelet bigger than mine!!!!!
Not to be deterred I then ordered another 2.0ct diamond to match the original stone and will be getting my new 4.06tcw
earings tomorrow. They are stunning with diamonds on the claws and on Saturday night I will launch them at my step-sons
engagement party.
The funny thing is, the wife will be there. Poor Pete (the husband of her''s) I hate to think what he will have to cough up next
time.
So Mara, what I am saying is, there is never enough. I am already planning the rhr which I think will be a Pear. Other people will
always be jealous. My husband loves boats so I encourage his delight in them as that gives me the chance to buy more diamonds.
When others complain about my diamond fetish I remind them of Liz Taylor who was given a ruby and diamond tiarra from Richard Burton
one day when she was swimming in her pool. She slipped it on her head and dived back in the pool.
As I remind people. I''m not that extravagant.
So enjoy.
