I was just talking to my mom on the phone and she let slip that she was looking for a pair of 2 ctw studs for me as a wedding present, but was finding them quite pricey (uh, yeah!). I said "HOLY CRA@P MOM!!" I told her .7 tcw would be plenty and that anyway, I couldn''t possibly feel more spoiled already because of all her hard work on WP1, and she''s all "Oh but that''s too small. No fun."

I don''t know what to think! I''m excited, but also...somehow wracked by guilt.

Weeeeeeeee!

I think it''s totally natural to feel guilty receiving such a blingalicious gift, but it sounds to me like your mom has her heart SET on it! So do a little dance...you''re getting some monstrous studs!!!!

Holy moly Batgirl! My freaking ERING is .7 carats! I can''t imagine have MORE than TWO of my diamonds on my ear! It''s going to fab!

My freaking e-ring is .7 cts too, Misysu!

I don''t think I can let her do this. Maybe 1.5 tcw would be a nice compromise.

Wow! That is so generous Indy. I think 1.5 ctw is lovely. But at the same time, let her get you something that will make her feel good... this is for her too. Her daughter is getting married!

She is looking to make this a memorable meaningful gift...she wants to give you her best. It is after all your wedding day and she wants to make it extra special-not just for you but for her too. It will bring her much joy to give you something so special. Awhhh....feel the mommie love? (I MEAN REALLY FEEL it it is 2 carats

IG, your mom is awesome, in the most PSer appreciated way. Don''t argue with her - she gave you her good genes, didn''t she??

Oh, I'm feelin' the mommy loooove! let me tell you.

The thing is, her other gift to me is a lifelong sense of guilt if I am ever being spoiled, fussed over, or the center of attention. If she was getting them for my sister in law I'd probably be TWICE as excited, know what I mean?

But I think the fact that she was finding them pricier than she realized, plus the fact that then each diamond in my ear would be bigger than my e-ring (as I pointed out to her) might make 1.5 a compromise she'd be happy to live with too.

Indy-

I hear what you''re saying about feeling guilty. As our parents get older we want them to save for their retirement, etc instead of on us. I felt really guilty when my parents told me how much they wanted to contribute towards my wedding. The thing is though, you know how good you feel when you give somebody a gift- especially something you know that they''ll truly appreciate and cherish? Well that how your mom is feeling about this. She''s super excited and just imagining the look on your face when you see them. You''ve been a wonderful daughter and she wants to give you something really special. So put aside your guilt and let your mom enjoy this (and you enjoy it too, it''t 2ctw diamond studs after all- the stuff PS dreams are made of!).

That''s so great of her! She would she prefer the 1.5ctw compromise but otherwise, sit back and let her do her thing.

Ooh, sounds like fun!

That''s awesome!!!

My mom did buy me wedding jewelry, but when I suggested she upgrade my studs (she gave them to me for my 21st b-day) she said "That''s your new husband''s responsibility!" And he said "No".

I can''t wait to see what you end up with!

So happy for you!

What a wonderful mother you have!

No kidding!

That''s fantastic! Lucky you! Wow!

That''s really generous!

I do have to ask, would you FH feel weird about you having larger stones in your ears than you received for your engagement ring?

Moving on...I like the sound of her gift. That''s an amazing present! So is 1.5 ctw...and a fabulous comprise. I can''t wait to hear the update to this!

What a generous mom you have Indy! Where do you think she''ll get them from?

Addy See, now that''s what I was thinking. I think FI might feel a little funny about it. Mom and I always talk straight with each other and my impression was that she was pretty sticker-shocked about the 2 tcw ones anyway, so I think the combination of those two things might make 1.5 a better bet. Or maybe I''ll suggest she just get me a pendant. Mmmm... I dream of bezels....

WOWZERS! You are one very lucky girl, Indy! What a generous mom you have!

I completely understand how you''re feeling, and I agree you should be completely honest with your mom and suggest a compromise.

Either way, you are blessed, my friend!

Is your mom looking to adopt a daughter?

Sure! The more the merrier!

Yay for me!! I think you should list a Sister Sign Up Sheet!

Seriously, though, your mom sounds like she''s trying to give you a wonderful wedding gift. And, as I recall, you were all about earrings for a bridal shower. So, it''s a perfect gift. Enjoy them. (and post many pics!!)

Yes! I am all about earrings at the moment as I have basically NONE (except the new Tiffany silver balls! and some huge bubble gum pink pearls). But shower-thrower-lady nixed the earring shower idea.

Apparently, it''s not bride-y enough.

Well maybe I''m not bride-y enough!

Wow!!!! If my mom said she wanted to get me 2ctw studs, I would be like "HECK YEAH!!!" Cause I

yay!! How exciting! I agree on the jackets....makes them *pop* and look extra special, and then you have plain studs for everyday wear!!! Not that such studs need help to pop, but you know what I mean!

lucky girl, I think that any studs would be nice. I can''t wait to see the studs

What a great mommy you have and what a thoughtful gift!! Enjoy!!
