How big is big?

Haha! I understand that you limit yourself to 10ct. 12 would also be too big for all days, you bump everywhere with it, not to mention insurance costs!:dance::doh:

10ct can be my daily ring. Bigger is only for special occasions

Also, your ring is just phenomenal :kiss2:

Here in the UK, it’s not that usual for people to have big diamonds, as previously quoted, the average (we’re told) for an ER is .25ct, so if you have .50 ct that’s considered big.

I also agree that it depends on the size of your fingers and hands whether something looks big or not. My friend has a .50ct that look huge on her tiny fingers, on me it didn’t. I‘ve tried on 2cts, which in my mind was big, but on my hand, I didn’t think it looked big at all.

I don’t think Bella looks too big on my 6.75 size finger and I normally wear her everyday (not since lockdown with the constant handwashing). I don’t know if it’s just that I’m used to her, but I don’t think she looks that big on my finger

I tried on a 10.38ct emerald cut at Sotheby’s, and that definitely was too big

Actually that 10ct EC looks pretty good on your hand! I personally believe an EC cut needs to be 6-8 ct minimal to show its regal and grace look because they are much smaller face up than their counterparts like oval… also you get fatter facets that will produce amazing light dispersion and brilliance. The reason why I end up with a 4.69ct oval with a face 14.04x9.3 on my 3.25 sized finger. Lol

Not according to this chart.

I'm surprised the range is so tight... and that it starts above 1 carat.

"Big" depends on so many things, as have already been posted. For me, "big" is anything 10+ mm or so, unless it's a slim, elongated shape. A 10 mm round, cushion, asscher, or princess seems pretty large.

You bite your tongue! You could easily get away with that EC!!! <3

 I could, I just didn't have the $130,000 + buyers premium readily available!

Its only $130K? Even with buyer premium, its only less than $200K for a 10ct EC?

 yes only nearly $200,000. Only in PS Land do we refer to that kind of money as only.
