Whatever, you''re going to read whatever you want into everything anyway.

geez... i was not aware that people on pricescope could be so... mean and self-righteous! (figured jewelry was a pretty benign topic.) and you know, i DO take offense to many of the things momoftwo has said. you may not come right out and say "all kids today are lazy and expect to have everything handed to them" but you sure as heck imply it. if you do not intend to, i suggest you learn better the nuances of the language. the fact is that housing costs have SOARED in many areas recently. it''s all fine and good to say to find a small house in a reasonable area. i''m a medical student. i NEED to live near the hospital. if that makes me unwilling to make sacrafices then i guess i am guilty as charged. if you need to make yourself feel better by putting down others, please do it elsewhere.

for the record, though i did not put myself through college all on my own, my boyfriend did and his parents plan to match his down payment for a house eventually... not because they HAVE to, or because my bf is unwilling to make sacrafices. and it won''t make our first new home worth less than yours.

This is just so enlightening. BTW, I've received at least 2 pm's from others telling me they agree with me. I think I know what I mean by what I post. That's pretty presumptuous to tell me what I'm thinking. Gee, I also think I know who I know and what I've observed in SOME people.

I never once attacked anyone on this PAGE!!! Nor did I refer to anyone's life personally. Read what I wrote. I also never said anyone was wrong in how they got their downpayment, just that SOME, read SOME that I personally know have done things the way I POSTED.

I've never said you can't live near where you work, but lots of people commute distances. I'm so glad you're in medicine. Are you bragging? What I have said, is it wasn't easy for us either. You've turned this into how it's about you for some really strange reason.

Gee, some people think this is about them. Remember Carly Simon?

Wow... I don''t come on for a week and all this excitement happens. Wonder if the rest of the threads are this interesting.

Who''s Carly Simon?

Carly Simon is a singer, in the 70''s she recorded a song called "You''re So Vain", and one of the lines is "I bet you think this song is about you."

ah, no wonder... she was before my time.

I''m 29, but I know far more 70''s music than current Top 40.

Carly Simon did a song call "Anticpation" so perfect for the LIW thread.

How about Helen Reddy''s "I am Woman"!!

I am woman here me roar
In numbers too big to ignore..............

I thought Carly Simon was still fairly well known since she still performs. BTW, her children with James Taylor are also in the music biz. That is (when Carly and James were still together) one talented family. Most people seemt to think You''re so Vain is about Warren Beatty. THere was a lot of buzz about it whent he song first came out and people still wonder. Carly auctioned off the secret a couple of years ago and the person who won isn''t allowed to tell anyone.

MrsFrk..that is so true. I'm 27 and I have an extensive library of 70's and 80's music. I don't give a hoot about today's music....OMG!!! I'm turning in my MOTHER!!!

Also..I thought that Carly Simon's song was about Hugh Hefner.....where I got that I don't know...didn't they "date"?....And did you know that Mick Jagger sings the chorus with her? Took me forever to figure that out.

You know - your own words speak volumes. I thought I would let your own words ring your ugliness & self righteousness. But, I''m sure it is *I* who have interpreted your words incorrectly.

BTW, Icekid said her point as a matter of fact and certainly not bragging. Many hosptials require their residents to live within a certain radius of the hospital. But then, I have no doubt you will post that you knew this or counterpoint with a convenient friend or relative that this didn''t apply to. And, I know of no med students that haven''t sacrificed quite a bit.

And, before you spout off anymore tax wisdom, I would suggest you look into the affects of AMT.

I''ve always found it odd that some posters will counteract posts without quoting the orginal post. It''s the purist form of righteous indignation. And, one can always hide behind the fact that "oh, I wasn''t talking to you". Funny, yeah, it''s all about me.

He hails from the Chapel Hill area. Saw him in concert twice at UNC & always refered to it as "home". His father may have been a professor at UNC.

You are not alone in your love of 70''s & 80''s. My nephew, 20, listens to this music. Some feel like Rock is dead & one has to look to those era''s for Rock.

Some of the Classics there, D4M!!

I remember seeing Jethro Tull in concert. When the members of the band were introduced I vividly recall the joke about the lead guitarist''s name. "John Glasscock, also known to the Ladies as Brittle D**k!!" the voice said in a sultry, sexy English accent. I remember being glad the lights were down as my face immediately got hot because I was blushing so.

My Mom was a total embarrassment to my sister and I over David Lee Roth. HBO had a special running where DLR wore a pair of jeans that had no "cheek parts" in the back. Our Mom was very enamoured with the young gent that had no seat in his pants. She loved watching him dance!!

Ahhhhh!! Fond Memories!!

I dont'' usually quote because it takes up a ton of space. Also, AMT is a terribly unfair to the average taxpayer. I never mentioned AMT. I happen to want that part of the tax code fixed. It was not intended for what it''s become.

This happens to be somewhat entertaining, and especially the fact that anyone would take advice from strangers on a bulletin board. You have to do what''s right for you and you don''t need anyone''s (who you dont know especially) approval. Dont'' take it too seriously. The defensiveness and anger I see directed towards opinions is almost scary. Like why am I getting grief from only a couple of posters unless something I said hits close to home? Don''t make me or anyone else responsible for your reactions.

I happen to love 70''s music. Kiss, Aerosmith, don''t laugh-Barry Manilow, Earth Wind and Fire, Bee Gee''s and Eagles. I have pretty diverse music tastes. I''ll age myself more, but Saturday Night Fever came out in my senior year of high school. Oh my God, I loved that movie and especially the music. If you look in my minivan today you''ll find cd''s of all of these groups and then some including Billy Joel.
