I think 18k is fine for earrings. I don't have plat earrings but other posters have commented that plat is too heavy for earrings. You made a great choice, congrats

CONGRATS!!! I think you both will love them. Personally, I think 18K is a better choice for that style of earrings anyway -- because of the weight issue. (I'm sure she doesn't want her piercings stretching out! And she'll want to wear these every day!)

If you saw me, you just might think I was homeless! I almost never shave and I wear torn clothes. So unless you look close at my watch or jewelry, you would think I just got out of prison.

um, we're the same way...especially hubby with his long hair, LONG beard and tie-dye t-shirts.....no one would even begin to suspect. i often say that the homeless dress better than us....and its true.

It used to be a lot more informal.

Especially on thepurists (the most incredibly inaccurate name for a forum ever) the trend now is that you have to show your watch (not just the ceremonial unveiling of the box) on your wrist wearing a $300 shirt. Extra points for standing in front of a Ferrari in Dubai.

Man, you are right. I don't mind a little snobbery, but they take it to new levels. Even though it is a watch forum, 75% of the questions people ask are responded by the mods with "the search button is your friend" then they close the thread. You have to post the correct watch brand in the correct forum or people get supper snotty. If you think Rolex watches are high end, they roast you till you leave. I truly wonder if some of those people have the watches they show. Very unfriendly place. This is a really pleasant place. Maybe they could have a dedicated watch forum here? The worst part of the watch forums is that price can NEVER be discussed. And the comments get so nasty that you leave, just like I have.
