I just wanna say -- the random comments thread

princess - That is so exciting!!!!!!! When are you allowed to begin moving things in?

Technically today, but I won't until next Thursday. I should be all moved in (though not unpacked) by next weekend.

UNGH! Mom, why did you forget that we weren't going to DC during your vacation, and tell everyone we were going there...

Soooo, anyone know how to do DC in a day?

Would love for my grades to magically increase themselves  hahaha

I was upgraded to 1st class for my flight home yesterday. Just as the plane was finishing boarding the CEO of our company boarded the plane. And proceeded to COACH. Yes, sometimes the little person gets the better deal!

HA! I saw Kristen Chenoweth live last night. So fun, since she's a hometown girl. She is just so cute, and SO good. And she pulled out her Okie twang just for the evening. ;)) Her voice teacher, Florence Birdwell, was there, along with her parents. There were musical tributes to both. You could tell she was happy to be home.

She did some less-often performed pieces, but also did "Bill", "The Girl in 14G", "Popular"(used to salute Birdwell), "Taylor the Latte Boy", and "For Good". And of course, she did the grand finale with the always-anticipated "Glitter And be Gay".

Great evening!

So finally after 3 years of leaking, and it getting put off and put off over and over, I called my mom last night and told her if they couldn't at least replace the faucet so we aren't WASTING 50 GALLONS OF WATER AN HOUR, I was going to have a guy JD used to do construction with come give us an estimate to replace the both bathrooms. I wanted to do that 3 YEARS AGO (when it was just the upstairs bathroom) b/c JD and Dad were always so busy-No no no no don't waste your money we'll do it ourselves I kept being told. So NOW after 3 years of leaking and I'd say millions of gallons of water, if I figure a gallon a minute, that WE had to pay for, and now BOTH bathrooms have to be completely gutted and redone-yeah, we'll be spending MORE money now than we would have to fricken begin with eh??? So today they're here to replace the faucet-and JD already had plans to be somewhere, so it's just dad. And it's a mess.

And now I'm wondering how long I'll be stuck w/a tub/surround/wall that looks like crap and there's so much nasty mold eating away at the paneling I'm embarrassed to have people come over..b/c I can guarantee that once the faucet is replaced the whole shebang will go on the back burner AGAIN b/c the obvious leak is fixed. The leak behind the wall that started this whole thing still isn't fixed, and that's part of what is ruining my wall and caused the ceiling in the downstairs bathroom to collapse (a year ago, and still isn't fixed b/c the rest of the crap hasn't been fixed) I'm embarrassed by my house and I'm fricken ticked. It looks trashy in the bathrooms like we're dirty trashy people.

Heaven forbid I spent $500 to replace the tub/surround/faucet 3 years ago-waaaaay smarter to let it keep getting worse and spend $5000 or more (that we soooo do NOT have) by having to gut and replace 2 bathrooms, walls, floors, ceilings, pipes..oh, and the aforementioned tub/surround/faucet.

Oh how fun! I had no idea she was in the area. I just love her..

I just bought another plaid flannel shirt. I have 15 plaid shirts as it is......

I'm praying for loved ones lost today.

My mom and I just booked our 2011 European cruise... Turkey, Greece, and Croatia!! Now we just have to decide which cities we'll visit before and after?!

Thinking of you, Dragonfly!

Meresal -- the cruise sounds wonderful!

I've felt like the Energizer Bunny lately and I'm looking forward to the next day off so I can relax. It's only Monday...

Overheard in class, while kids were supposed to be writing a made-up story:

"Well, I was gonna write about fairies but I can't because everyone knows that fairies are REAL."

I LOVE how fascinated 7 year old girls are with fairies.

My computer won't stay connected to the internet for more than a minute or two right now! My husband said it was up to me: new computer or the piece of bling I was ogling. ;( I need to fix this computer!!!!

I love my boyfriend's mom. She likes jewelry as much as I do, and nearly cried yesterday when I gave her a loose white sapphire. She wants a ruby ring really badly for Christmas, and its a pleasure to hunt one for her.

I am finally feeling human again!! Oh, hooray!

If there is one thing that my Sister and I do have in common, it's our taste in food. Tonight is her b-day dinner which means I get to have my favorite meal too :Up_to_something:

DF--sorry about your breakup but I honestly th think it's the absolute healthiest thing you could've done. You've got so much going for you, you don't need anyone contributing any negativity to your life. I'm proud of you.

Princesss--well, you know how much I respect and admire you already, props for getting a place of your own and living it up! We all find ourselves eventually, and you are no exception...

FI is having surgery tomorrow on something non life-threatening but I have found myself unexpectedly scared and feeling very small. My usual tactics include: making jokes, being funny, and sort of ignoring the situation at hand by laughing and making light of the situation. Reactions (from the about to be surgerized party) to my usual tactics have included: no laughter, (unless under the influece of Percoset), zero enthusiasm, and overall upset.

I have written several emails to my mother (who fortunately? shares my sense of humor) and she is no help, but I've found myself sobbing every time I write. This is oxymoronishly seriously ridiculous.

Surgery scheduled for noon manana...may or may not report back to this thread. Just wanted a place to state some very, VERY random thoughts. Thank you.

My boyfriend just asked me why I didn't ask him to marry me years ago.

Monnie -- I'm sending quick healing vibes to your FI.

Monnie - Sending lots of healing dust! Surgery is always scary, I don't care how simple the procedure, it just is. I get scared just by my mom having moles removed so I know how it is.

Reader - Tell him that's his job.

LOL, yeah. That is awesome. I love kids and their minds.

NYC and Houston trip was insane. I had a blast, and need to get back to NYC very soon.

Hurting

Sending dust to you, hoping whatever is hurting you is lifted soon.

Thanks, Reader :blackeye:

When I stop feeling lost, it will probably go away...

Thanks for the good healing vibes, y'all. I will pass them right along to FI.

AN--you are surely not posting here about hurting if it's regarding your Phillies. What gives??? Hope everything is ok. Please share...

deleted...hope you got to read it...

...Monnie, not about the Phils. I still *love* them regardless...the only thing that can make me relatively happy is the fact that I'm about to go to sleep with my stuffed animal Phanatic.

Aww, I didn't get to read it. I think I have a clue...but I hate to assume anything.

Try to get some rest and I will hope and think positive thoughts for you that things will turn around and get better tomorrow.

If you can't sleep, here is something my mother always told me from the time I was little: just close your eyes and rest, don't worry about falling asleep, just rest.

If you think that line enough times (could be any number!), you will eventually be asleep, trust me. Something about just knowing tha your body and mind are in a restful state seems to give way to an actual state of slumber.

Take care.
