I played along in two but damn it Im done guessing. TELL ME. I often wonder if they don't know, and want us to guess bec they have no idea. Or if they need an ego stroke. Either way, lame sauce.GemFever|1358861617|3361645 said:ame|1358861139|3361639 said:What is with the rash of guess how big my stone is and what it's specs are threads of late.

Me three!! One of my favorite moments was during their 2nd dance when the First Lady went ahead and wrapped her arms around his neck. I just loved that (although I can't imagine being tall enough to actually do that with DH ).ame|1358868881|3361707 said:Yea that was pretty awesome. WOA what is the facebook page? I'm so curious I want to see!
Since you have a contract you're tied to, I wouldn't keep pursuing this honestly, unless this would be a DREAM JOB since you'll have to buy your contract out, your lease out, pay to move back, etc.Dee*Jay|1359136882|3363494 said:The firm I interviewed with in Chicago on Monday just called and said they want me to come back to meet some more people.
I'm THRILLED (of course) but am really on the fence becuase the timing is not ideal. I'm within a few months of finishing the requirement to sit for the CPA so this move would delay that a bit. BUT it's almost the perfect storm in that I could work it into a less-than-five-days-a-week role so I could do other things (like my real estate busines, which has gone to he!! in a handbasket since I've been here).
HOWEVER, I am only 7 months into a 36 month relocation contrct, so it would cost some $ to get out of this gig (not to mention the 6 months I have left on my lease).
I am kind of "pre-worrying" about this since they certainly haven't offered me a job yet, but I seriously don't know what I would do if they did!

[ETA: If I did write a check, I would simply be giving them back money they gave to me in the first place, so I'm not really out anything.]
It is not necessarily a dream JOB but it is a dream SCENARIO in that it would be a professional role that would pay very well but would give me time outside of a regular 5 day a week job to do other things I'm interested in.

Is it possible that the new job would compensate you, or "buy out" the remainder of your other contract? Not sure how this works industry to industry but I have a friend who is constantly being recruited in her field and she gets paid relocation costs and re-imbursed for any penalties or buy-outs of contracts that haven't yet expired.
DeeJay, timing is never good when it comes to big life changing decisions. That's just the way it works. From where I sit, if you're offered the job, moving back to Chicago seems like the right thing to do. It gets you out of Missouri and back into an arena more suited to you, offers you a much broader venue to pursue your interests, and gives you time to sort things out. Even if the Chicago job didn't please you after a while, you'd still be in an area of the country that you enjoy, right? And there would be other jobs to pursue, right? And taking a bit longer to sit for the CPA wouldn't rock your boat too much, right? So what do you have to lose other than an opportunity?Dee*Jay|1359136882|3363494 said:BUT it's almost the perfect storm in that I could work it into a less-than-five-days-a-week role so I could do other things (like my real estate busines, which has gone to he!! in a handbasket since I've been here).

Absolutely! This is spot on Enerchi (and not just for Dee*Jay ). This opportunity is opening itself up to you Dee*Jay, and although it's easier "said" than "done", I think you should go ahead, take a step, and try it out.Enerchi|1359156873|3363731 said:Oh, Dee*Jay! that sounds so exciting!! If it is the right thing and it was meant to be... it will happen. Sometimes, we just have to take a leap of faith and just go for it. Only in hindsight, do we know what was right or wrong.
and I do believe... there's a wine collection waiting in Chicago for you, am I right??? Not to mention - *I'm* coming in April, so if that's not reason enough to massively upheave your whole life and return to Chicago after a big move away--- I just don't know WHAT is!!!
(in all seriousness - life is too short to stop yourself from taking a reasonable chance.
