I hate visitors...

Have someone coming for A FULL #@! WEEK.

I want to hide, I want to go away somewhere.

This is by far the longest we've had someone in the house and I am NOT looking forward to it. I feel like I can't say anything because we're always accommodating my more introverted nature, and this is one of DH's relatives that he cares about.

I go through this craziness every time someone is about to come visit (except for people I can count on hand, but even THEY don't stay more than 2-4 days - and that's about all I can handle) - I always live through it of course but I hate it.

I feel your pain :blackeye: Good luck with it!

I had an unexpected free hour while downtown yesterday so I visited Harry Winston, a local high end jeweler and Graff. It was so much fun!!! I am head over heals in love with the sunflower earrings from HW. I don't think a piece of jewelry has ever made my heart beat so fast! And their channel set baguette eternity band is perfection.

Graff had some true beauties too. A FY bangle set in yellow gold - with 50 pointers all the way around. Enerchi - it needs to go with your new band! I tried on a 5 carat asscher that was pretty amazing. They have so many unique, spectacular pieces. It was really like a museum!

A very fun afternoon!

Ah, I love days like this. I had my own verision of it yesterday when I went to the Manhattan Vintage Show. There is something oh-so-very pleasant about having the opportunity to see and feel things of incredible beauty up-close. It's *better* than a museum!

Browsing the net for some local jewelers to check out, esp. for estate jewelry. Came across a store that does repairs, including:

"If your diamonds or other gem stones have been chipped over time, don't worry! Our expert stone cutter can re-cut and polish your stones back to a state of perfection. We can also turn your old-cut round diamonds into beautiful modern round brilliants." [Emphasis mine]

Did anyone watch the Superbowl? Who were you rooting for? I think Beyonce went all out during halftime (no faking this time)!

My mother was hospitalized with bronchitis (she's out now and getting better, thanks!) so I was on the road on Sunday evening, returning home after visiting her and my father. I thought I'd stop on the way back to get a bite to eat and hopefully catch the halftime show even though I was driving through a very rural area where there are not a lot of dining options to begin with, even fewer open on a Sunday night, and almost none on this particular Sunday night! But I did find an open restaurant during what I hoped was about halftime. Unfortunately my timing was off by just a few minutes. I got to eat a so-so meal in a nearly empty diner while watching 35 minutes of blackout!

On the up-side, there was almost no traffic on the road home, and thanks to the delay I reached my home just a minute or two after the game ended, so I was safe at home when all the partiers hit the road. Sometimes you just take what you can get. :wink2:

But I did catch Beyonce's halftime show later thanks to youtube. I think she put on a fantastic show!

I'm glad your mom's doing better!

That 35 minute delay was crazy. Talk about impacting the momentum of the game, especially following that kick-off return for 107 (or 109 yds) by the Ravens. Good grief!

I had a dream last night that Adam Levine and I got it on...

I may have found a great local jewelery store... Gonna keep my fingers crossed until I actually visit the shop and maybe buy from them. I wonder if they do repairs, too... over email and phone, the owner said he knows someone who actually specializes in french cut diamonds, and he'll give me a quote. He also said he is... what did he call himself... a jewelry historian? "Historian" figured in there, and his love for antique jewelry. Sooo exited :D

What a find!

Today was my first day back to work since having my second ten months ago. I'm barely working - only 10 hours a week - but I'm still excited! It was so nice to have adult conversation and to be working in a team on a challenging project. And it's great to have renewed energy and excitement for my "real" job of raising two awesome boys. Good day!

Oh NO!!! So, my oldest will be turning 11 on Monday :O Her party will be on Saturday. Now, being the PSing mommy that I am and knowing how she likes rings (not like her mom at ALL!! :twirl: ) I thought to get her a ring. Well, I hate getting gifts for people if I'm not 100% sure that's exactly what they want, so I asked her. And then ordered the one she wanted. Yeah, I ordered her a cheapo rolling ring. It came today.

I WANT MINE SO BAD!!!!!

I tried hers on and am worried that it'll be too big as it fit my fingers. sigh. I still so want mine, am really trying now to figure how I could get it next week (or at least ORDER IT) when I go to PHX with hubby....oh the first world probs....

Well...DH and I have a deal: He spends $$ on his crazy races (GoRuck, SERE, etc) and that same amount goes into my sparklie fund. So, I actually did some researched and totaled up how much he's spent on his events (and ridiculous backpack, and new gun), that it MORE than pays for my rolling ring. Now just need to inform him of this fact  Do I tell him after his Phoenix event (so that'd be next weekend Saturday) after he's been up for more than 24hrs and has been rucking (that's tromping through PHX w/a 50lb pack and doing other various exercises); read: He'll be exhausted! Or wait until we are at the fancy mall and drop the bomb there...then go into Cartier and try on which one I'm wanting. I'll probably order mine because I need to have it engraved and don't want to have to drive the 2+hours to PHX the following weekend. :D

So, not exactly planned out but....oh so close!

Oh! that is so exciting Cozystitches!!! Do you know how long the engraving takes? AND YES... go and try them on for sure - and in the condition your hands are normally in. I tried on some in LV last November and posted on a thread somewhere...but my hands in Vegas are about a size 20 ring! vs my normal life here at a 7.75/8. I tried to get from my hotel to the Cartier store with my hands "casually" up in the air so they wouldn't swell in the heat and gravity, but it was a challenge!!

I'm excited for you!! my DH gave me an IOU on my birthday for one as well and I also want the bands engraved, so I'm curious how long that process takes.... since we will be in NYC in April and not sure if it can be done while we are there - or is it a ship out thing? My issue is they won't ship to Canada (according to the LV sales agents)

BF gets here Saturday night and my allergies are flaring up because of this stupid weather we're having and I'm miserable. Booooooo.

Hey Enerchi,

I may email to ask how long it takes to engrave.... :D Better to have that info in writing ahead of time. I highly doubt it would be an overnight type thing so I'll probably end up ordering and having them ship.

As for shipping to Canada, why not have it shipped to someone stateside? ;)

Watching Revenge.

Wow!

OOOOPS... I meant Scandal. Very wow.

I just put in an order to the USA Foods store, for myself and some workmates.

$110 buys you a whole lotta stuff. Pizza Pringles, KC Masterpiece, bbq rubs, Reece's Pieces, Hershey Kisses, candy corn, Sugar Babies, etc, etc, etc. Yum. Can't wait for it to arrive.

Yum! sounds like some fine "sugar infused/carb heavy" dining at your place soon!!!

I also can't find certain treats here in Canada and for my birthday, my DH ordered up some white chocolate Reese's peanut butter cups from Amazon.com (US site) to Ontario .. when they arrived, I was VERY good about pacing my self... They came late in December and for a box of 24... I still have 3 left! :praise: quite proud of myself :praise: LOL!!

Enjoy the binge when it arrives, JG!

We do a bit of volunteer work. DH is an electrician. We spent six months in South Africa on a project- we've been home about 14 months. We got a call last Thursday asking us to go to Haiti for a year. We talked about it for a few days and decided we could pause our lives for a bit. It was a hard call. We both own businesses (read = self employed) so we have to trust things will work out in the big picture!

I think we will be in Port au Prince, but I have not confirmed that. Should be an adventure. We have a friend "house sitting" for us and helping defer some household expenses and also watching our pup while we are gone. I'm very thankful it's the same time zone and only 3 hours by plane if I need to escape for a long weekend!

This is the night for crayzee topics on discussion boards, LOL. Here's a bookstore in Pittsburgh that is looking for donations to fund a HVAC system. http://www.city-data.com/forum/pittsburgh/1785413-local-bookstore-needs-heat.html Huhwhut?! O-kay, this does not happen in my universe. 1. Do not open a store without having HVAC installed. I mean, it's freaking cold in winter and sweltering in summer here. 2. Do not axe me for a donation toward installing HVAC for your business. Some nerve.

Wow - that's more than "a bit of volunteer work!" I'm sure it will be an adventure in many ways. I hope it all goes well for you!

BTW I'd be "slightly freaking out" too. Probably more than slightly, to be honest!
