I just wanna say -- the random comments thread

My new job (which I love) is totally getting in the way of my PS time (which I obviously don't love).

I woke up this morning and it dawns on me that I send my DBTY back to ID via FedEx with NO INSURANCE. FML. how could I be so stupid?? :(sad

Oh I hope it gets there!! or I can kiss all that money goodbye.

Thank you Enerchi, SB and RB. I wish there was something I could do for them. She will be in intensive care for quiet some time (she's had to have fingers amputated and other operations, for internal injuries) so I can't even send flowers! I was thinking of making a few meals up for her dad and dropping them off so he doesn't have to worry about cooking when he gets home, but I dunno, seems trivial.

Oh HOT, so sad. Meals will be hugely appreciated.

And dust for your necklace's safe arrival in NY!

HOT I'm so sorry.

My SIL and my cousin had to have a d and c because both babies didn't develop. One yesterday and the other today. These are two loving women who would make great mothers. It is just so unfair. It boggles my mind how easy people who don't deserve children can have them and they can't. This was my SILs third iui, I pray her hcg level go down so she can continue with iui. I am not an emotional person at all but this news is devastating especially because they didn't tell any family members except me and their moms and I am in a different state. I wish I could help them in some way [CRYING FACE]

Charmed one I am so sorry. Life really isn't fair sometimes. I hope and pray for them that they will both be mothers one day.

It arrived safely! Phew! It's in Yekutiel's hands now.

I'm going away for work in a couple of weeks and usually try and cook a few meals to take for myself (so I don't have to spend my travel allowance) and for my daughter and DH so he doesn't have to cook as much, so it won't be too hard to make up a few extras.

More sad news happening to people in my area. An FB friend, I know her through another friend, lost her 10 year boy the other night. I can't even begin to imagine how devastated she must feel and my heart is breaking for her. So so sad.

Thank you for your support, chel and HOT. Everything was finally sorted out at about 5am. I had a sickie - no way was I going to function at work without even one minute of sleep.

So, so sorry to hear of all your bad news, HOT. It has been a rough time for a few people I know. One of my Chinese coworkers quipped that it is indeed the year of the snake after all. :nono:

My older rescue kittens have been advertised for almost 2 weeks with NO interest whatsoever. ;( I struggle when this happens - the longer they're here the more attached I get, the more expensive it is (at this point I'm spending $500/month on the fosters alone, not counting my own pets!), and the work to clean up after 6 rapidly growing kittens turns into the work of cleaning up after 6 adult cats. Bringing our total adult cat number to TEN in the house! I'm starting to panic - uni starts in two weeks, and my free time/disposible income will see a serious downgrade. I am very much hoping someone sees my babies and are keen to take them home.

Charmed One-I'm so sorry about your SIL and cousin. So awful. :(( The only thing you can really do is just be there for them as I am sure you are. Sending all involved good thoughts and wishes.

HOT-so sorry about your friend. I cannot even begin to imagine how she must feel. Nothing is worse. I will keep her and her family in my thoughts and prayers.

JG- I hope the rescue kittens all get adopted to loving homes...sending you and the kitties lots of ***dust*** !!!

Thanks ladies. I am praying for them everyday. I haven't heard from my cousin, it hit her pretty hard. I texted her but no answer just to let her know I was thinking about her. I didn't want to call. I can't bare to hear her cry. My SIL is doing much better and looking forward to her next cycle because after the d&c her numbers have dropped. So that's good news so far.

HOT I'm so sorry. I can't imagine how they must feel. I will pray for them.

Things have been so crazy. Sometimes it seems there is no end. I pray for better times soon, for everybody.

Anglicized names sure seem to be popular in India these days! Within the past week I've received phone calls from Sean, Mike, and Roger, all from techneecal department at windows computer, all with strong Indian accents - actually, I guess it must have been a popular trend about 20 years ago??? Hmmm... I wonder why the parents of my Indian co-workers weren't bit by the same Anglicization bug?

VR - my oldest son is going to start working at a call centre as of tomorrow, he's joking that he's going to create an Indian based name and then really throw people off when he calls!! haha!!

Those are not their real names. They are told to 'adopt' a Western name for the purpose of the calls. I know, because I am Indian and I know several people back home who work in call centers.

Although I read a lot, I've never read Michael Crichton's books. I got Jurassic Park on a whim from my library and it is UNPUTDOWNABLE! I am having so much fun reading it. And I am such a fraidycat, when I was walking my dog this morning on our nature trail I kept jumping at the slightest sounds. Now I can't wait to read The Lost World!

I looooooved Jurassic park!!! I couldn't put it down until I found a huuuuge spider someone had killed in between the pages. I couldn't pick up the book again. Blechhh!!!

My heart goes out to the posters with sad news recently. Life can be crushing.

...

Wanted to vent a bit instead of threadjacking elsewhere. Someone somewhere said something mean about certain diamond qualities that I happen to like, a lot. I know we all have our opinions, but why say something nasty? It wasn't intended to be mean, but really caught me off guard. Boo :blackeye:

Awww, gemfever, I don't know the thread or comment you are referring to but all I can say (without knowing the details) is that beauty really is in the eye of the beholder! There are so many different preferences/likes/ etc on PS and IMO there is no real right or wrong when it comes to the beauty of diamonds and other gems. One person's dream might not do it for another. I'm so sorry that poster was insensitive to others feelings. Sending big virtual {{{hugs}}} to you!!!

Thanks Missy, it means a lot! :wavey:

Gemfever- there are so many PSers and we all have so many different preferences. What counts above all else is what WE each like for ourselves! Its great to have input (it really is!! I love sharing and learning about projects, etc.) but ultimately, what you love is what you love - enjoy your own jewels for what they are. As Missy says above, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

(((HUGS)))

Sorry to hear about all the sad news lately. I'll be thinking of the families as they struggle through their difficult times.

JG -- Your kittens are so sweet. I hope they are adopted soon! If I wasn't on the other side of an ocean (with four cats and two dogs already...) I'd love to take one (or several!) home with me.

Gemfever -- I just got a stone (picking up tomorrow!!!) that I'm sure would not be up to the standards of some posters, but I fell in love with it. My diamond is just what I had been looking for. It may not be perfect on paper, but it is perfect to my eye!
Stones are such a personal thing!

What sort of engineering instructor schedules a mid term exam at the SAME TIME as registration for next quarter opens?!?! Most of us in the class are in the first group or two to get to register and he's got us taking an exam.
One of the classes I need to take is offered ONE TIME PER YEAR and it is open for registration starting while I'm stuck taking a test. There are 35 spots available and they will fill up FAST. (as in some classes are filled and closed within 10 minutes of opening!)

I've got FI logging in to the registrations site and doing my registration for me. Hopefully it goes well!
Either way, I'm worried that something will happen (like him losing the paper with my log in info or his network being down) and I'll miss the class I have to take.

I guess at the end of the day it isn't a big deal. I'll still finish school. I'll still get to transfer (even if it is delayed by a couple of quarters). Life could be worse.

Good luck TooPatient! I hope you make it into that class.
Exciting news about picking up your stone! Are there going to be pics?

Thanks for your nice words Enerchi!

As soon as I can figure out how to get an even semi-decent picture! It is being set in a beautiful setting right now!

FI let me have my b-day gift a couple of weeks early and I've been trying to get a good picture of it too. Every picture has turned out as this sort of blue/black blob with some white-ish stuff around
(b-day gift is this beautiful sapphire & diamond necklace I found at the jeweler's bridal show  )

Will try a different camera and see what I can do!

I'm very annoyed.

Brought an apple to work, put it in the fridge, and clearly labeled it with my name. A coworker comes to me and says "you owe me an apple" and I ask "why?" And they say "because that apple you brought was rotten!" And I'm fuming inside because A) he ate my apple and B) he has the audacity to eat MY apple then tell me I owe HIM an apple?

I think I'm more than annoyed.. I'm furious.

I thought he was joking at first. He wasn't. He really thinks I owe him an apple since he bit into a rotten one and ruined his appetite.

I'd be annoyed too. He needs to be taught a lesson girlfriend. Tempt him again with an apple labeled with your name and make sure it is rotten inside again. Or a really good fake (that would teach him lol) and then see if he ever tries to steal your food again. Really very nervy of him unless you guys have that sort of relationship and in that case I wouldn't play the trick on him but it doesn't sound like that was OK for him to do based on your post. Ha! Would serve him right!
