I was the lucky one to scoop up Jeff White's newly posted seafoam tourmaline! I was mesmerized by the color and faceting!! Now I would love have input on mounting it. The only thing I'm certain about is that I don't want it in a fancy diamond halo. I have my JbEG mahenge, and I don't want this to compete. Please give me ideas.

 :appl: Goooorgeous!!! No thoughts on the setting just yet but dang..that is one beautiful stone!

What a beauty, am green with envy =) I would persoanlly set it in a simple WG setting, allowing the stone to be the shining star !

That's really what I'd like. But the setting can't just be a stock peg head set. Ideas?

That is so gorgeous!

How about a split shank swooping upwards ?

It could be set either n/s or e/w depending on your preference and desired finger coverage.

Yay! So glad you got it! I wanted to get this one but I felt like I shouldn't since I already have a JW seafoam (yours and mine could be siblings!).

I put my in a halo but I do regret it. I just haven't had the money to reset it. One idea I had back then (which wouldn't work now) was to get James Meyer to set. Unfortunately, he's no longer taking outside stones :(

Three-stone? Trap sides?

Or, I am loving some of the Jbeg settings - those could be a fun match with the stone.

Uppy, its gorgeous! I'm so jealous :appl: Plain WG would be gorgeous, as, IMO, would one of Daniel M's baguette settings.

Or half moons? Ooooooh... I'm thinking that would be beautiful!

Ooh half moons - nice. I like that too!

Plain or blingy shank? I keep being reminded of Bebe's Leon (but with half moons instead of traps), and then diamonds on the shank....plus your stone is the perfect shape for that setting :)

I love your stone!!! If you sort of stare and squint, you can see a Maltese Cross, perhaps? Ive always wanted a stone that would do that.

Nice stone!! Are you set on WG? I'm never sure which gold to seafoam in. I love the half-moon idea, though. Looking forward to seeing this project progress.

What a gorgeous stone, Uppy!

I didn't see it on his site-- did he have a recent gemscoop?

Love it!! You pupped me to the post on that stone but am so pleased a PSer got it so I can drool at the pictures when you get it. Jeff mentioned he had more rough so might see if he can cut me a similar stone. How about smallish vertical baguettes with prong set/ channel melée down the sides?? Half moons might also be yummy! Looking forward to seeing what you do with this beautiful stone!!

The stone measures 7.1x7.8mm. It is just about the same size as this yellow diamond from DBL. I love the proportions of this ring!

Hi Uppy

How do you like this ring with half moons sidestones? I have this design saved on my computer for a long long while but I can't remember which website I saved it from now.

I love that color.

Heaven, help me!!!! Look at it with AVC sidestones! GOG has two .40 F that would look killer!!!!

Very pretty Uppy, and congratulations on getting one of Jeff's stones. I think high karat yellow gold will bring out the blue more.

Honestly, I think sides that large and blingy would overwhelm the stone. I would stick with baguettes, or do a thin melee halo to deepen the color a bit since it is light in tone.

Oh, VL..... I've got a few loose coins in my purse. Do you think you could hammer out that beauty for me??? :lickout:

VL, that is wonderful. I'm looking for a three stone ring design for a future project too...very nice!

I love that tourmaline, congratulations on a great find and a fast clicker finger!

Uppy, it's just beautiful! I looked at that puppy too, glad a PSer got it.

Love your last idea & yg is very good w/the blue of the stone. What about trying the traps even a tiny bit smaller to give the tourmaline more importance? Whatever you do, it will be stunning.

Gorgeous colour and cutting, I love the cushions or the half moon sides, it's ethereal.

I agree with TL, baguettes will bring out your beautiful seafoam tourm!

Beautiful! There have been a lot of great ideas here, but I love the traps (VL's photo). They make the stone pop without competing. If you'd like to send it to me, I could work up a few ideas.....Just a suggestion!

Congratulations! :appl:

The traps are a nicer proportion to the stone and since they're step cut, they aren't competing as much with the tourmaline.

I agree with TL, the step cut of the traps really makes it work. Hard to argue with Harry Winston. It had an emerald cut vivid yellow diamond in it when I found it.

Uppy, it's absolutely gorgeous! I love the color. I like all the ideas everyone has contributed so far. I think traps would look very pretty. :))
