What size would you want? It''s a given that the cut, color, and clarity are all good. But money aside, what would be the ultimate size you would want??

cheers,
Jaz

I''ve tried on a bunch of rings and I think I would like something in the 3 carat range.

3 ct. is my "fantasy" size ring also :)

cheers,
Jaz

What FUN QUESTION!!

For a round, I think a 2.5 would be good for me. A 3 ct cushion would ROCK MY WORLD. For a marquise, I would want a 4.5 set EW, like Catherine Zeta Jones.

Wow - it is fun to dream!!

Hmmm...I have never tried on any larger sized stones. Off the top of my head, I think 2 carats would be my dream size but I''d have to try on some first.

Definitely 2 to 2.5 carats. Also depends on the shape. I have a 2.5 and a 2.05 now and I think the 2.5 is as big as I want to get. I wear my rings everyday so I don''t want the cocktail ring look.

This is now, of course, shrinkage hasn''t set in yet on the 2.5........yet.......

Although asschers and flanders are really catching my eye now. I hear they don''t face up equally as far as size goes, so maybe a 3 carat for that..........

I''d have to say a 1.5 for me. i wear a 3 1/2 so anything thing bigger looks silly
2.gif
i even think the 1.5 looks huge but I''m going for it or pretty close anyway

I''ve never tried on anything bigger than 1.5 carats, and on my finger that looked pretty HUGE. So I''d have to stick with 1.5 round brilliant set way up high in a platinum solstice style head on a yellow gold band with channel set diamonds. With a matching wedding band of course.

For a RH ring, I''m thinking I''d go with a 3 ctw cluster style ring in yellow gold.

mmmm what a question!

I would love a 3.5c round brilliant for my ''final'' stone on my e-ring...

I would also love a 5c asscher...mmmm for the right hand ring!

8.5mm. Would prefer asscher, but I think 8.5mm is the size, whether round, cushion, asscher....so carats would be totally different.

hmmmm... i think most of us guys are reading these posts and then trying to find a place to hide!!!

Fun topic!

I think for a RB, I would love a 2.5-2.75 ct stone. I tried on a 2.6(something) and it looked sooooooo nice.

I would also love a Royal Asscher in the 2.5 to 3 ct range with trapezoids on the side, done by Leon Mege.

Ahhh, a girl can dream.

Don''t worry lost on 5th....like the post says.....if you COULD have..most of us don''t expect these rocks at this time...perhaps as upgrades in the future, but not necessary right now.

H VS 2 2.5 ct rb 8.8 mm will be fine.

I would definitely love a 1.50 carat round diamond!
That would be absolutely perfect for my fingers!

I think i would have to go for a 3-3.5 cushion with lots of pave!

I think I''d have to go with a 1.5. That''s just large enough to look slightly too large for my wee finger.

It''s different for certain shapes...

a 5ct+ squatty Emerald Cut.

a 3.5ct roval

5ct+ for an asscher

3.5ct+ for cushion

yes, I''m looking to stave off shrinkage forever.

Two carats is the most i''d want to wear (for an RB) but a 3 carat asscher would be pretty cool too.

May I ask what "shrinkness" is?

Thanks,
Jaz

Shrinkage is a term that people use to describe how what was a ''large'' 1 ct. might seem like a ''small1 ct after wearing it for awhile. When you first get soemthing it may seem larger than you needed, but after getting used to it, it seems normal size...and then the yearning for a larger stone kicks in.

Nothing really shrinks except our perception.

Just the perception that your diamond looks smaller over time. Could take years for some women... weeks or days for us crazies.

Maybe never for the lucky ones.

3ct asscher for me, please!

A 3ct asscher would be my dream for a RHR!!

3 ct cushion would be IT. And I WILL have it!!! :)

moremoremore,
You go girl!!!

I want a 2ct diamond at some point. I don''t think I''d want to go any bigger than that. I think that size will be on the upper end of what would look good on my size 5 finger (for my taste).

, I think my ideal would be around a .50 to .60 carat in a ring. For a pendant, maybe a nice 1 carat pear!

I am pretty happy with my 3 ct pear on my size 3.75 finger. Anything larger would look out balance with the width of my narrow finger. Maybe that is one of the reasons I prefer stones that are longer than wide e.g. pears, ovals, and marquise.
A 3 ct RB would be 9.4mm wide versus the 8 mm width of my pear.

Now what would be my dream bracelet would be one made up of 1 ct stones instead of .33cts each that I have now.
I already kidded Wink that the shrinkage syndrome has set in and maybe I should have got .50cts each instead ... LOL

3 to 5 carat Starburst Radiant Diamond setting with 0.5 - 1ct side trilliant cut stones in a Platinum setting - just a dream...drooool! Similar to the picture...but with a Radiant. :-)
