Whoa, Allison! All you people with 3 ct. stones are amazing!!! Who is setting this for you? It''s funny but this was supposed to be a fantasy thread, but there are some people really buying diamonds in this price range! We''d love to see it!Date: 12/30/2006 8:06:24 AM

Okay, since we have hijacked poor Harriet's thread...here is some new entertainment. If you had $48,000 and could choose any stone or stones from the PS database, what would you choose? (List basic stone specs, vendor, and prices)
Allison, I think you''ve made a wise decision! I truly think a 3 ct. stone is significant enough to stand alone as well. I also set mine into a wg setting (and recently a better one) since I was not certain of what I wanted permanently. I''d love to see your pendant as well! I haven''t done anything yet with my old diamond..I might just save it for my girls and let them decide what to do with it! I''ll be looking forward to seeing your pictures soon!Date: 12/30/2006 11:51:50 AM

Hi diamondseeker2006 - I thought I wanted it to be a three stone ring, so I had them put it in a temporary white gold setting while deciding what type of three stone I wanted. But now I''ve discovered that I love it as a solitaire!! So I''m thinking I''d like to have a platinum solitaire setting made because I don''t really want white gold for long term. I also just had my original engagement ring made into a halo pendant by a local jeweler and I can''t believe how much I love it. I''ve got to run to my Mom''s to have a late Christmas get together but I''ll post some pictures soon. Also, I never imagined I would be wearing a 3 carat stone of any quality so this is a dream come true for me.
Happy New Year!

I''d rather have no diamond than a 48K worth of diamond(s).

ds, I''m not saying it would be hard at all! I just couldn''t find the one thing I wanted. I really don''t want anything else, imaginary or otherwise. Apparently colorkittyy doesn''t want much either.Date: 12/30/2006 2:06:58 PM

Ellen, it would not be hard to reach a total of $48,000 if one chose an e-ring stone, a RHR stone, diamond studs, and perhaps a bracelet or two in a nice color and clarity. Those would not have to be huge to reach that total.

for 48k i''d get harriet''s stone!!!
I completely understand, Ellen. I really do. I don''t really go around wishing for $48,000 in diamonds either. But the idea that if a person is basically given a shopping spree in Tiffany (or PS vendors in this case) with a $48,000 gift card that they would simply refuse it is very strange to me. Someone who really didn''t like to wear jewelry could always give it to loved ones who do, or how about donating it to charity? It was just a fun fantasy...like what would you do if you won the lottery? I''d certainly give a lot to charity, but to outright refuse it would be very strange to me. (I don''t buy lottery tickets, so I won''t personally have that particular problem arise! And I doubt anyone is going to give me a $48,000 diamond gift card either!)Date: 12/30/2006 2:15:08 PM

I think that''s what''s hard for you guys to understand. Some of us really DON''T want much, as CRAZY as I''m sure that is to most of you.
But my previous post was just a joke!
oh i know. i still think that is one of the best deals on large rounds out there right now. pickins are slim!Date: 12/30/2006 2:20:06 PM

Harriet''s thread is what inspired DS to start this thread. I am sure it is a lovely stone though.

Thank you all for keeping me amused while my wonderful hubby cooks my dinner! The other thread had me laughing hard enough that he came to check on me. I am not nearly as diamond smart as the rest of you but I do know I am color sensitive and this is what I would buy from James Allen:

A 2 carat would be my ideal (actually a bit largerthan ideal, I think).
