Intergem find - 9.4 carat seafoam blue tourmaline from Brazil

I swear I replied yesterday but it’s GONE! I think the colour is great with no closed C axis observed. Not only that, the facet pattern reminds me of light glinting off a fish’s scales as it arcs above the water.

color is great..good buy TL..she has the eye for those sweet stones

Pretty stone, great find! I love the cut!!! Is the stone darker in color on one end or is it just the photos playing tricks? If it is, I'd vote a pendant set N-S, to play it up.

WOW! Cool gem!

Indy's right, tell us about the cut. It looks almost like chevrons or dare I say, quilted! How about a photo of the pavillion? There is something very interesting going on there!

It's a millenium cut stone. John Dyer cuts his own variations of these types of cuts. It's like a series of grooves along the pavillion. Klewis has a John Dyer stylized millenium cut, and he posted photos of his pavillion. Very cool. The stone is depcicted in Klewis' avatar as well.

Here's another millenium cut stone example.

No closed C at all. If you look down the C-axis, it's totally open, not dark and extinct. I always look for that in tourmaline.

Here''s another photo on the hand, direct sun.

One from further away to show the size better, excuse my dirty mint Afghan tourmaline ring, and my dirty spessartite. Direct sun.

Very nice color and I love those combinations of carvings and faceted cuts!
