Yup, not to mention that tanzanites have perfect cleavage in one direction (so it might split into two pieces if hit just right) and also sensitivity to thermal shock. I’ve read that sometimes the temperature between the hot lights of the display case and the chilly glass countertop in an air-conditioned showroom can be enough to develop cleavages in tanzanites.

Oh jeez..I don''t wear my rings often, but I think I''ll have to pass on a stone that''s so finicky-no matter how pretty it is.

I didn''t ask about lavender sapphire, but he didn''t have any lavender spinel that would cut the size I want.

I''ll go ahead and try Dutton''s and GemRite today!

There''s a round pastel blue sapphire at Pala too..no picture tho..kinda sucks when there''s no pictures!

Michael E said he could prolly do a sapphire for me, if I''m not particular about the color, both intensity and hue, since you never really know what the finished color would be. I''ve seen some stones that were more blueish with a little lavender, and some that were more lavender with a little bluish, and liked certain ones in each color, but they weren''t the right shape..usually like a pear or trillion or something. I''ll have to think about this!

Ugh, I know it! It says violetish blue on the one I think it is. This one is light violetish blue..I wonder if it looks like this? color haha it''s going to drive me bonkers wondering what the color is!

The purple cushion sapphire and the purple round spinel could have possibilities.
Plus, the size and price are in your range.

Pink-I remember going there before, but then I started emailing more places and I think I forgot about them-good thing you reminded me! I''ll go a searchin there tonight!

Chrono-I know it! I was glad I was already sitting down when I saw the price-certainly wasn''t expecting it!

But, I also heard back from Peter tonight-he''s got some rough but is unsure what it will cut-he''ll let me know. I went ahead and asked him about sapphire too, just now.
