Is this too big for a Halo engagement ring?

Unpopular opinion but I personally love bigger halos. The tiny diamonds are so small they don't have much sparkle to them from what I've seen. I'll attach mine so you can have an idea of what it'd look like on. My center stone is 5.5mm wide with .1 carat stones on the halo, not sure of the mm measurement of those stones though. The band is 2mm wide and those stones are smaller than the ones in the halo. Size 5.5 finger.20211109_163005.jpg

I am going against the grain too. I think small pave makes a halo look more dated. My diamond was old and even though is sparkles nicely on its own, I love the shimmer that you get with a really well done diamond halo. I have a 3mm band with oversized 2.25 halo stones. This is too big for your one carat but I would definitely keep it at a 2mm band with something like 1.5-1.8mm stones. I also scalloped my halo so you don’t see any metal from the top. Mine feels like a halo without looking like a cluster. I am working on a cluster ring right now that has a much different feel.

My ring has a similar shape to OP’s.

By the way OP- I could never work with a jeweler that would make me feel bad about something that should be a happy experience. It would taint my piece of jewelry for me. I would take your loose stone and find a new jeweler. If you paid for your CAD, you should be able to get an electronic version of the file to take with you. This is a design that many jeweler‘s already have as stock if you can’t obtain the file. Please keep looking so you can get exactly what you want.

I would also just get the stone from Alex and go with someone else. You don’t want to have to tiptoe around your jeweler and then end up with something you aren’t happy with.
