Wishful... there is no "us" and "them"... this affect everyone. Don''t buy into that thinking, for me.You are everyone, and everyone is you. All connected, and all affected by this. All of us are being maginalized and prejediced against. And all of us are bigots because it''s been allowed to pass and stand. Whether we voted for or against, we are all responsible for it. And all responsible for making it RIGHT. It''s a black mark on humanity, as dramatic as that sounds. Even those that don''t realize that yet in generations to come, thier predecessors will realize it. I know that. I''m just sorry that it affects ALL of us NOW, and that there are those that don''t realize that. ((HUGS)). I don''t mean that to demean your personal investment and experiences, quite the opposite. I hope to make them everyone''s experiences, and everyone''s pain... so that it unites us and helps us move to where we need to be... united against prejudice in any form or against any person.

Of course I remember the hilarity of of Craponia. What makes me laugh even more is that some unsuspecting non-PS person checking out the excel ring will be reading the specs thinking, 'Pave...craponia. Hm, it must not be very good!'

Thanks for the shout out to T-Tot. Boy, I'm glad they are not cloning kids yet because all the cute PS babies would be copied/imitated/inspired from for sure! Hee!
I KNOW. And the MEN are looking and going... "hehehe... craponia... hehehe...farting."

Cloning my kid, now THAT would tick me off. We do have a cute bunch. And more on the way!!! It's amazing to share the journey's we all go through. I remember when you were looking for you diamond, and your mom's... your wedding prep (certain unm... leather bound parts are more memorable than others), your pregger's AV... and now. This is such a good place. A place for sharing. Lives, designs... but no, not DNA. LOL. There is a LINE after all.

Okay I'm getting philisophical. Time fore bed.

Mia, you made me wish I was going to see John's family in NJ (10 degrees there too, YIKES!!). I miss his neices so very much. Have a very SAFE trip, and I KNOW you are going to have a great deal of fun. Good night honey. Be sure to post all about your trip. I know everyone is going to be SOBBING over your gorgeous pics. I finally got mine and I was trying from the second page on (no digitals yet folks, don't crucify me please).

Good Night All!!!

Okay, now you've got me crying. It's true, so true. It's so hard to parse out "us" from "them" as I obsess and cry and freak out and wonder what's going to happen to us [meaning DW and me]. I never, never could have imagined it would affect me this strongly, even before stupid Ken Starr went to the Court and asked them to dissolve my marriage, which is one of the worst feelings I think I have ever felt. And yet it has, so much and it's so complicated and I don't know what to do anymore but wait and it feels like forever and so hopeless and terrifying. You've not demeaned me in any way; quite the opposite, in fact. Your statement isn't even dramatic to me, because for me there are no words and no statement could be strong enough. You've just been my personal rock tonight, grounding me and reminding me that it's somehow going to be alright in the end, even if I'm dead by the time it rolls around [not that you said that, that's just my own morbidity talking!]. Thank you again for being strong when I can't seem to be. I can't wait to meet you in person. :)

ETA: Have a great trip, Mia! I hope your albums are faaaaaaabulous and I am sure they will be a big hit!
30.gif
ETA2: Thank you, Mia. You guys are lifting me up right now. And man, what a bummer to move from MA to CA! Argh! Good thing it's warm or I'd have to rethink it.
2.gif
[but look on the bright side, CA is still better than TN where some bigoted employer fired a man for being gay and there's not a thing anyone can do about it because it's legal. So not like just any other state... ]

Word. I feel so embarrassed for our state/country. When I moved to CA I was so proud to live here, and in November that feeling changed. California now feels like the rest of the country. I was so disappointed.

Anytime Wishful. I''m just paying it forward, this place and it''s inhabitants have been my rock when I''ve been hurt, desperate and lost. It''s a debt, and an honor. I will treasure your words. Much love, Layla

Gypsy, you''re a bigger woman than I am -- and you know I''m not talking about mass -- in your generous response to seeing someone else''s version of your original (colaborated) design offered for sale on some website. I hope (and think) I''d be able to get to that point if something like that happened to me, but I''m sure my initial response would resemble that style of pave.

I missed the saga of the making of your ring, by the way, but... it sounds like I may get a chance to see it on Saturday!

haha I don''t understand why you are so shocked! Ever since you posted pics a re-set has been in the back of my mind
11.gif
! Seriously, your ring is gorgeous! I would go to Ocean for a quote first though! mmmm craponia pave!

I have never heard of this craponia, I thought you ladies had made up a word!
So I google it, and guess where it leads me - back to PS, lol....we are such a wealth of info
3.gif

(for anyone else like me wondering, it refers to french cut pave).

Wow. You do have a beautiful ring, and I guess you should (maybe) feel flattered that they thought it beautiful enough to copy! (Although, I might be just a bit peeved that they copied my ring and didn''t give me or my designers an ounce of credit....) Congrats on being a trend setter!!

I agree it's a testament to your excellent taste! Your ring is gorgeous! And you are one classy woman!

I can't believe I haven't seen this ring in person yet, which means I haven't seen you in such a long time! Hopefully soon!

Gypsy - that awesome, LOL! I wasn't here when you were going through your search for the perfect setting. But I think it rocks that you are tickled pink that someone else was able to find the ring of their dreams - and that your were their inspiration! Too cool.

Heh. Craponia. Love it.
9.gif

ETA: PS - I adore your ring! I don't normally like halos - but I love how delicate yours is! And the craponia adds to the charm.

Gypsy, your ring is hands-down one of my favorites on PS. I''ve always loved it--that single-cut halo is scrumptious! I''m so glad that you are flattered (you should be!). After putting so much work into hammering out the details of your ring, it''s definitely VERY unique to you! Congrats on designing something that is so beautiful, you did a fabulous job!

I would be shocked too, and I would probably feel salty for a while over it...because, after all, thats your baby....but, it''s a lovely ring, and you should be very proud...

Hahaha! I wonder how many more rings are out there that were inspired by one seen on a popular diamond website? Too funny.

I am sure there are many. Gypsy, thanks for the heads up, thanks for the months of fun that we had working together with Ocean to create your treasure, and thanks for not letting someone ruin your pleasure with your wonderful ring!

Wink

Gypsy, thanks for having such an amazing attitude and sense of humor. I''m giggling quietly along with you because the husband is still asleep. Your ring is gorgeous. The other is quite pretty but very different from yours. I hope Marci wears it in good health and happiness and am so glad you can still love your ring, there''s no reason not to!

Gypsy, I just saw this thread. I can''t believe it! It is just...well...unbelievable! Congratulations on your fame!

I am so not surprised by someone recreating your gorgeous ring OR your reaction to it. You are one classy lady Layla (with an incredibly unique ring!)

Gypsy,

Just noticed this thread and took a look at your link..to us!
Wow, you are right!

That''s just amazing and yes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and you should be incredibly flattered!
Your original vision helped facilitate another couples happiness.

I propose the following..and with your permission of course...

I understand that you feel the replica doesn''t quite do justice to (your) the incredibly exquisite original.
...still.....the ring is beautiful...and is the result of your vision...

Therefore, if you''d like, I''d be happy to re-name this ring after you and according to your own choosing ("Layla''s ring", "Inspired by Layla" etc.)
If you''re game, so am I.

Let me know!

If you build it, they will .... custom? Sometimes consumers are just ahead of the curve ... wanting something that doesn''t exist yet. But ya realize the pent up desire for something when folks see it and AHA!!! can''t live w/o it either.

The timing is quite ROFLMAO! Polite hand clapping & tossed kisses to a KLASSY lady & her Craponiastic Original!

Hi Judah, Thank you for your personal response! This was a collaboration with Ocean. Honestly, "Ocean's Halo" would be great. I don't need attribution.

As for whether I do or do not feel it does my ring justice... just um... fix that shank connection to the halo for me??? LOL.

Hi Judah,
Okay so I thought about it and here are my feelings.

I collected pictures of settings I liked aspects , detaiils and parts of for 4 years. I put together a power point presentation that pulled together all my thoughts. I have pictures of halos, of galleries and wires, of shanks, and a rough roadmap of how I wanted it all put together

And I sent it to a number of jewelers and spoke to them. And… I picked the one who I thought could bring the picture in my mind to fruition the best.

But I didn’t hire a bench jeweler, I hired a designer in Ocean Pearlman. And my my ideas in someone else’s hands would have resulting in a different product.

Ocean is the one who took my ideas and used her skills, vision and talent to produce sketches, and spent hours talking with me about minute details so that she could bring my ring to life as a complete design that worked as a whole. It was a labor of love her and for me. And it is much more than the sum of the parts I insisted on including: it is its own design.

So yes, it was a collaboration. But I got what I wanted out of it, and it sits on my finger making me happy every day.

What I want is the acknowledgement of Ocean’s work, or Ocean’s labor. And so, I think that you should contact her and work out what the ring should be called. That would make me the happiest.

If she wants it to be referred to as “Ocean’s Halo” or something else, I bow to her.

I am very sincere when I say I don’t need or want attribution. But I am also sincere in when I say that as professional courtesy, reaching out to Ocean would be nice.

She can be contacted through Wink at Winkjones.com

Thank you Judah,
I am so happy that Marci got the ring of her dreams.

Layla, all I can say is you are one classy lady. I love your ring and I adore you my friend.

Linda, sending you a big hug.
