"Just Barely" Pregnant PS''ers

Laila - I don''t know! The nurse said, ''no, that''s not high, I mean you''re 5 weeks pregant.'' I was expecting maybe 400 or so based on the 50 last week. Soooo looking forward to this ultrasound though. The doctor will be doing it, so that will be nice. We like him a lot, but I rarely see him. I can''t wait to hear what he has to say about all of this!!!!!

Super-sweet figurine, btw! It will be such a nice keepsake to have to remember this time.
1.gif
That nurse sounds a bit confused?! At 17 DPO, you''re only 4 weeks and 3 days pregnant!

Am I? I am so confused too. I was going to state that in my last post and add - I NEED TO FIND A CALENDAR!! Honestly, I've been so trying not to think about this, that I don't even know. My last AF started on April 5, and I ovulated on CD 18 or 19 (4/22 or 4/23). I count from April 5, right?

ETA: Ah, I think that's it. I tend to ovulate later, so I think that based upon the 4/5 date, it is 5 weeks. Maybe just an early implanter?

Ohh, I see the confusion...if you go by date of LMP, you're 5 weeks. But if you go by date of O/when you conceived, you're 4 weeks and a few days, since you O later than day 14. When they go by LMP, they assume a 28 day cycle with day 14 O, which we know is not always the norm for us ladies!

Clear as mud?

Noelwr-I love the pic of your little bean. So cute!!!!!

Laila - Thanks for helping me through that. It still seems rather high, so we will see what next week holds as far as twins or not.
1.gif
This whole thing is so funny. It's like wait, wait, wait, wait, RESULTS, next step, wait, wait, wait, wait, RESULTS, wait, wait, wait. Ahhh, so much fun, but I AM NOT complaining! For the most part, I've been doing really well with my distract, distract, distract strategy, but I was really feeling panicked today at the blood draw and waiting for the results.

Bella - Thank you, my friend!

Lanie - Glad to hear you have your m/s figured out. I have read that eating constantly is the key, including before bed and as soon as you get up. Super cute about the cousins too!

LV - my HCG was 1,992 at 20 DPO and I''m preggo with twinies!

Regardless, those are GREAT levels and a lot of singletons can have high levels so, it might not be twins. It''s funny because at 14 DPO my levels were 200+ (forget the exact number), but the nurse who called me said my levels were amazing and I asked her if that meant twins, but she said not necessarily. However, it held true for me! Keep us posted!!

Blushing - Thank you for chiming in! I thought of you and your twins because I distinctly remember that when you came back to tell us about the twins, that you also said you conceived on an off-medication cycle. Well, that's another similarity between us! I conceived on a "break cycle" due to multiple residual cysts following a Follistim/IUI cycle. Wow! I wonder if maybe there is a residual effect from the medications.
33.gif

So, yeah, early high HCG levels too, huh? I'll try not to get too hopeful over here, but I'll admit I'm really liking the thought of twins!

I have heard of Clomid hangover babies. So, I would believe there''s a residual effect like with other medications. Maybe you''ll have a little boy and girl! Secretly, that''s what I want. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Yes, I think there is! I believe it has something to do with high estrogen from the multiple cysts perhaps.

Oh Laila, those figurines are precious!!!!!!!!

Noelwr, YAY FOR YOUR FIRST U/S!!!! Yay for the strong heartbeat!!!! How cool that the tech could even see which side the egg came from. Oh, I know how nervous you must have been. I feel that way now... but now you are in an awesome place having seen the baby and its heart going strong. Soooo happy for you! It's real!

How are you doing, LV? AWESOME HCG!!!!!!! I wanted to tell you - I was reading What to Expect When You're Expecting last night and it said that for women who had recent pregnancies, the next one will have fewer symptoms. And BBs won't be as sore. So I think that's us!

Lanie!!! Oh, you made the announcement!!! Wow, 2 little cousins! So cute! And on the m/s...keep eating!

dcgator, thanks for the sweet Mom's Day wishes! See you here soon.
Fiery, you too! Thanks!!! Bella, you are so sweet. See you here soon, too! You are going to be amazing moms, dcgator, brightlight and Bella...

***************
So DH and I went to our first OBGYN appt today. The first day of my LMP was April 11. So on Fertility Friend, it says my due date is January 19 but the OB said January 16. I know it'll be plus or minus 2 weeks or so anyway, but that was interesting. I can't believe we won't get to meet the baby until 2011! Isn't that crazy?

We love Dr. Kind & Nerdy! Omg, I should stop referring to him as that since I have already sent two PSers there! I will call him Dr. Kind now. Hehehehe. DH loved him. So he did an ultrasound just to see...though we were sure we wouldn't see anything. Sure enough, we didn't see anything but did get to see that the endometrium lining was nice and cushy. Poppy seed has a nice comfy bed, I guess! I have no idea what the blob is. I think he said that's where it probably was.

DH was all worried asking questions like, "Is it real? So...we're really pregnant?" And then a few minutes later, "Is there really a baby in there? It's real?" LOL We are both so terrified and excited at the same time. Hope it's OK to share the nebulous blob, which is really not much to look at - hard to believe our little world revolves around this tiny little bebe smaller than the eye can see. I have to say that I still don't believe it's there, but DH and I both agreed that this pregnancy feels so much better. Somehow, we just feel better about it. We're still scared, but it somehow feels OK that we're scared because it'll be OK. The whole experience seems different. I feel like this pregnancy is so much easier than the last one, though it is still way too early to say!

So the awesome nurse took my blood for HCG and progesterone; and I have an appointment for a follow-up in 3 weeks. I'm only 12 DPO today so... Hahahahaha, yes... I jumped the gun on getting in there! The nurse was like, "You didn't wait a second to get in here, eh?" So I guess I'll just wait 3 weeks - seems like so far away but the exciting thing is, we'll get to see more by then! I'll be about 7 weeks by then so maybe we'll get to see a heartbeat, too. Dr. Kind said I didn't need to take progesterone or baby aspirin so that answered my question on whether to take them preemptively.

Whew! 3 weeks! Seems like so far away!

Love and hugs to all!

ETA: Blushing - oh twins!!!!! You lucky lady! Brightlight, secretly I hope for the same thing! A boy and a girl! Then we'd be done!
31.gif

So the blob photo... you can't see ANYTHING, of course. But now it's a running joke between us. We teased the poppy seed in the room by going, "We see you! We see you!" And now DH points to my tummy and goes, "We saw you today!" So funny!

Interesting LV - perhaps it does have something do with it! Time will tell!

Oh and when you go for your first ultrasound and if it is in fact one baby, just have the doc double check. You could easily miss the second one like we did for two weeks!

Bliss your DH is a riot - his anticts are so darn cute they make me tear up a bit!

I am putting every single ounce of sticky bean hope I have into your little poppy seed!!

Brightlight and Laila - Wow, really? Where have I been? I had no idea. I''ll try not to research it and will just wait-and-see.

Blushing - Thanks for the tip! I''ll be sure and suggest that the doctor take an extra good look.
5.gif

Bliss - Your doctor sounds really great. Thanks for posting what you read about no symptoms. That''s sort of the same thing that your DH said. He''s so smart!
1.gif
Anyway, yes, a lack of symptoms is ok. Make it your mantra. So, I''m exactly one week ahead of you based on LMP! I''m so glad that there are so many JBPs right now (and more to join!) so we''ll have a big group to share with!

Bliss - that''s beautiful! I wish I could hold your hand during the 3 week wait. The last week is hell. hopefully you will have other things to distract you, like your wonderful DH.

Wow, there really is a lot of us!! It''s wonderful, isn''t it?!?

So, I found out that my insurance covers 80% of my maternity hospital stay for an out of network hospital. Boo! So I''m gonna have to switch OB''s. Octavia, I hope you''re still lurking, ''cause I''d like a rec! You can message admin for my email, or if your OB actually works out of my hospital you can just give me his/her initials, and I''ll look him up. TIA! I''m okay with delivering at my hospital, even though it''s not the best baby hospital around.

I''ve had a really busy week. I haven''t heard ANYTHING from my OB about my bloodwork. She told me that they''d only call if there was something wrong, so I guess it''s good news. Maybe I''ll call later. I have to get all my stuff transferred from her to my new OB. She had told me that they''d release all my records to me, and I''d have to take them to the new Dr. So I guess I''ll make an appt with the new OB, and pick up all my records from her. Oy. I should''ve just made my first appointment with an in-network OB
37.gif

I''m feeling okay. No m/s, but I''m salivating incessantly... it''s so weird. I actually have a spit cup. Ew! BBs hurt still. I need new bras! I occasionally get a metal taste in my mouth, too. I want ice cream all the time! And I''ve found that I''m unable to finish my plates... I''m eating smaller meals throughout the day.

Noel... Thanks for sharing your U/S! We''re almost due date twins!! Mine''s 12/19. I''m pretty sure I O''d on CD 14 or 15, so mine''s the same whether you go by LMP or O date. I''m wondering if I had a late implanter though, ''cause I had a weird spot 24 DPO. I''ve got no U/S yet to date, though. Hmmm.

LV... Yay on 1747!!!! OMG, twinnies would be wonderful!!! I hear ya on the waiting, too! I''ve been waiting a lot, and all I''ve got is confirmation that I''m preggo!! No numbers yet!! Gah, I need to call my OB today.

Lanie... Yay for cousins!!! My BIL''s GF is due less than a month before me! We''re hoping that whatever the gender, they''re the same. They''ll be thick as theives
9.gif
Neither me or DH has cousins close to us in age, so we''re really excited for our kiddos.

Bliss... It''s so wonderful to have your sunshine around here!!! Your DH is too cute!! The U/S pic is awesome, albeit blob-like
41.gif
!! Your little poppy seed is snuggling in, I just know it!!! Yes, 3 weeks seems so far! But it flies, really. Mine''s a raspberry this week (why does raspberry have a P in it??? I just had to look it up!). It really seems like yesterday it was an appleseed!

Laila... The figurines are adorable! A wonderful way to remember!

Kunzite, Circe & Splitshank... I hope you ladies are doing well and feeling good!!!

Oh, I had a Q for you all. I wonder if M/S is related to your ''aptness'' for queasiness.... I''ve always had an iron stomach. I don''t think I''ve ever thrown up from a stomach bug. The only times I''ve ever thrown up are alcohol or shellfish related (I have a shellfish allergy). I never get motion sickness, and I love rollercoasters and free fall rides. How ''bout you all?? Those with bad m/s, were you more apt to queasiness pre-pregnancy?

I hope you all don''t mind. I''m a list freak, and I wanted to see how close we all really are! I apologize profusely if I''ve forgotten anyone... I only went back a few pages. Those with ???, feel free to add yourselves (or correct me... I guessed at a couple!)!!! I can''t believe how excited I am to have so many people to share pregnancy with!!!

The only times I''ve ever thrown up are alcohol or shellfish related (I have a shellfish allergy). I never get motion sickness, and I love rollercoasters and free fall rides. How ''bout you all?? Those with bad m/s, were you more apt to queasiness pre-pregnancy?
Lynnie, my midwife told me she believes women who experience m/s are more sensitive to the high progesterone levels than other women. Her other theory is that m/s is caused by having low blood sugar basically. That''s why it temporarily is relieved by eating a cracker or something similar.

Lynnie, I too have an iron stomach due to life long stomach problems that leave my stomach upset pretty much on a daily basis. I''ve also learned to eat through my upset stomachs because if I didn''t I''d never eat! So any queasiness from m/s was pretty easy to manage and I didn''t throw up once. I had one rough day in the 1st tri and two days in the second tri that I felt pretty crappy, but it was nothing major.

So I definitely think there''s a correlation between those of us with "stronger" more throwing up resistant stomachs and little to no morning sickness. It''s not that we aren''t having the same hormonal surges as everyone else, we just have a higher tolerance for the physical reactions that go along with them.

LV -- Wow!!! That number is great! I was just about to ask about residual effects of medication, but you beat me to the punch. How interesting!!!

Laila -- meant to say your figurines are really cute! What a sweet gift!

Bliss -- congrats on your baby''s first picture!!! Hopefully the 3 weeks will go by quick and all will be well!

Lynnie -- thanks for the list. You got my date perfect.

My m/s is wearing off, which is very exciting, but also a little scary. Hopefully it comes and goes. Or maybe the medicine is finally kicking in. It''s worse at night.
(*)(*)s are still sore and my tummy is still sore every once in awhile, especially when I sit up from laying down.

So I know it''s super early to talk about cribs, but my coworker wants to sell me hers. It''s a really REALLY nice one for a good price, but I kind of wanted one of those convertible ones (the kind that are like Transformers and go into a little bed, then a double bed). Have you girls even thought this far ahead yet? I don''t want to buy something even though it''s a good price and regret it.

The weird thing is, I do sometimes get motion sickness, and I was pretty nauseous on the BC pill. So I fully expected to get morning sickness, but nada. Like Hudson Hawk, I don't think it has anything to do with not having hormonal surges because I know my levels are sky high at this point.

Re: previous stomach problems and m/s -- I have a kind of sensitive stomach. I used to get car sick sitting in the back seat if I was reading. So I kind of figured I''d be a little more prone to it. That and my mom and sister both had horrible nausea with all of their pregnancies.

Hahahahaha, I just said almost exactly the same thing in my rocker, recliner, slider thread!! Sooo, do the sides slide up and down? I had briefly looked into cribs over the weekend and noted that some advise against buying used cribs with the sliding sides because they may not be designed to withstand being used multiple times for several years and could pose a safety hazard. I would also research whether the crib was ever subject to a recall. Aside from those two issues, based on my limited reseach, if it's a super good deal, then you can justify spending more in other areas . . . . Perhaps the baby bargains book has more advice on this topic?

LV- Wooohoooooo on those stellar beta numbers. Fingers crossed for a strong little bean (beans?!) in there!

Bliss- Love the picture of your little poppy seed. I think ours is purportedly the size of a kumquat hahaha. Yay for Dr. Kind, who is taking such good care of you. Your husband is such a doll. I love the daddies-to-be who are so excited about their babies. My husband loves to talk to ours already and though I roll my eyes sometimes, it is so sweet.

Laila- Love the figurines. What a sweet and thoughtful hubby you have!

Noelwr- Yay for the ultrasound photo! It looks a lot like our "bumpy" from 7 weeks. Funny how they are all big head, no body at that stage. After everything you went through last time, that first early beautiful heart beat must make you feel so much better.

Lanie- Love the cousin connection! We have that going on with my SIL, as well (first two grand kids!), so EVERYONE is so excited. The thought of close cousins is so sweet, too. I did not have one growing up but was envious of my friends who were best friends with theirs. I''ve started peripherally contemplating baby gear, but it just seems to early to think about it seriously. I am dying to start on the nursery, though
30.gif
If I found a great deal on something I LOVED, I''d spring for it early!

re: Lovely morning sickness. I definitely think that some women (me!!!!!) have a predilection for it more than others, but that is probably not the whole story either. Motion sickness is my best buddy
14.gif
Hormonal BC made me nauseous. But many women have bad MS and then nothing with subsequent pregnancies. And at 10.5 weeks, it''s not letting up yet here. Counting the days until the end of the first tri, but with above history, who wants to bet that I''ll be one of those few lucky chicks that have morning sickness longer than normal. Lanie, my pattern is like yours and worst in the evening, too. At least that means usually my worst is at home rather than stuck at work.

Updated the list with my EDD--

Splitshank ???
Icekid 12/4
Laila 12/12
Noel 12/18 or 12/22
Lynnie 12/19
Lanie 12/22 ((I think))
LovesVintage 1/10 (based on LMP)
Bliss 1/16 or 1/19

Circe ???

In big news, MIL officially knows that we are pregnant! She called me and hubby multiple times yesterday and repeated many times what essentially went like- OMG OMG OMG, I am so thrilled I am so thrilled I am so thrilled, OMG OMG OMG. You get the idea! Let''s just hope she does not start calling me daily like she does my poor SIL.

And my 10+ week ultrasound is later today! I want to be excited, but am mostly nervous despite the fact that the risk of miscarriage is supposedly <5% after seeing the heart beat. Still, can''t help but stress a little. My doc visit yesterday was totally uneventful. Did the pee in a cup, but we didn''t even try to doppler the heart beat because she said it was too early and would just stress me out. Next time should be more exciting, I suspect.

Hey everyone! Love to see the list get longer! I''m kinda freaking out that I am first on the list!!! As for a EDD...depends who you ask. It went from 11/22 to 11/29 to 11/26....I''m going to average it out to 11/26 and maybe it will change at the next appt. Been feeling very good other than being exhausted the last 3 days. Icekid -- yay for an appt today!!! I''ll be thinking about you and hope all goes well. I bet you will feel so relieved...report back ASAP!

LV -- good call on Baby Bargains, and crib recalls, etc.

I agree that this is very exciting that we are all pregnant together, and I hope we have many more healthy months and stories to share.

I''m not thinking furniture, yet. will probably do that around 6 months. I am thinking baby clothes. I bought swaddling "sacs" in the States as I don''t know if they sell that here. DH was wondering why anyone would want to put a baby in a straight-jacket. and I''ll start knitting teeny clothes soon, though they have to be gender neutral colors for now. my mom has confessed to already have knitted booties and a wrap blanket.

icekid - keeping fingers crossed your appt went well. I also want a 10w u/s, but they told me that since I had one at 8w with a heartbeat, there''s no need for the 10w.

I''m going to speak to the mid-wife about that.

Lynnie - I''m not prone to motion sickness and the only thing that usually makes me throw up is alcohol (or watching other people throw up). I also read that it has to do with sensitivity to progesterone levels. since the mid-wife said my corpus luteum was quite pronounced (that''s where the egg popped out of the fallopian tube) and it secretes progesterone, maybe mine secretes a lot and makes me sick? don''t know if size makes any difference.

split_shank - please take it easy!

BLUSHING!!!! Hey, gorgeous! How are the twins? Hope your pregnancy is going doubly well now! Awww, you are so sweet. Thank you so much!!!! Ha, the 12DPO ultrasound is funny, isn't it? We couldn't see anything but a white fuzzy. I am going to try to enjoy the next 3 weeks... hopefully we'll see a heartbeat!

Oh Keepingthefaith21... Awwwwwwww....lots of love and dust to you!!!! You are going to be awesome parents!!! Thank you for the sticky bean dust!!!! This poppy seed better stick into my bagel!!!!

LV, how are you doing? Ohhhhh, I am so paranoid sometimes. I woke up and grabbed my boobs first thing this morning before I was even awake. DH laughed and laughed. I think subconsciously I worry about the lack of boob soreness, although at times they are huge...sometimes sore, sometimes not. This morning, they were not sore and even felt smaller so I freaked out a little! Had to POAS to feel better. Oy! I am so glad to be here with you again! Even with my paranoia, I do feel better overall about this bean. It's weird - I am more paranoid about the little things but also feel better overall. Sounds so contradictory! Ahhhh, 40 weeks of this?!

noelwr, OH!!!! Thank you! That is the sweetest thing. I will totally reach out during the 3WW! Oh boy, I can only imagine how scared I will be the night before the appointment. DH and I both walked into the OB's office on Monday looking terrified. It was almost a blessing that we didn't see anything significant! But we were also excited... it's definitely a new mixed bag of emotions this time around. DH has a new white hair at the ripe old age of 33... I think it's from worrying about the bean! LOL

LYNNIE!!!!! There are so many of us now! I hope for several of my favorite TTC sisters to cross over soon!!! We can all hold hands and have jolly fun while freaking out at times. Oh, hearing nothing from your OB is good! Mine said they would not call unless something was wrong. But they told me to call if I wanted to know the specific numbers. You bet I'll call! Ah, I salivate a lot sometimes as well. I have a lot of cramping at weird intervals. Today, the bean was busy nesting and twinged really hard at the exact spot where I feel it implanted. It's so funny because the human urge is to resist the pain and brace against it. So I had to breathe through it instead and tried to relax...letting the little bugger do his/her thing.

Hey Laila! SUPER DUPER HUGS! I hope I don't get bad m/s. I love eating... m/s takes away that joy for me!

Lanie!!!!! YAY for m/s wearing off. WHEW!!!! Yes, mine is worse at night, too! Oh, you have all the right symptoms! Wow, the crib deal sounds great. On our end, I'm not going to do anything until the second trimester because I don't feel ready... but I have gotten some cute maternity clothes just in case.

I am disappointed that I don't have any bloating. The last time, I felt like a blimpie. I feel dismayed to have a flat tummy because it makes this pregnancy seem unreal. Bring on the bloat, baby! I can't wait to look pregnant! Is that weird?

icekid! How's the kumquat??? LOLOLOL. Awwww, your DH sounds so sweet!!!!! I roll my eyes at my DH, too. He is being funny by burying his face in my neck all the time. He says my skin has gotten softer and that I smell really good to him now. (Did I stink before? LOL) But he is strongly attached to my "yummy smelling skin." Today he theorized that women got softer and smelled yummier during pregnancy to keep the man around so that he'd take care of her. He is CRAZY! He says I smell like a baby. (I thought babies smelled like poop most of the time? What has gotten into my man?!?)

Split_shank! You take it easy, mama! Ohhhh, how exciting about the new place.

****************
I ran on the treadmill today at our gym and DH ran over waving his arms because he was worried about the baby. I think I'm going to milk it for all it's worth!

He is a good cook/water fetcher/helper... what else can I make Daddy do for Mommy's entertainment? This could be super fun!!!!! Anyone else having fun with their DHs?

Oh, on another note... are your DHs afraid of BD because they think they might hurt the baby? I cannot convince DH that it's perfectly fine. He's totally up for it but mentally afraid it will hurt the baby. GAH!!!! It's kind of my fault because one time before BD, I jokingly said, "Here comes Daddy to say hello!" And DH froze in fear and it ruined the moment. LOL I think the thought of poking the baby (poppy seed) killed the romance! Clearly, men are clueless about the cervix & etc.

It still makes me giggle.

Laila – That Willowtree angel is adorable! How sweet!

noel – Congrats on the u/s! I’m so excited for you to hear the heartbeat, and such a strong one! I find it so odd that even when you know what day you O’d they still use your LMP date to calculate your EDD. I find that crazy annoying! I actually told them my LMP as O-14 days. Whoops

Lanie – That is so exciting about the cousins! A good weekend indeed!

LV – GREAT number lady! I’m crossing my fingers and toes that you get twinkies if that’s what you want!

Bliss – Glad that your first appointment went so well. Love the picture of your poppy seed! DH picked up a sesame seed at lunch yesterday and said, this is our peanut! Your DH sounds a lot like mine, it’s crazy.

Lynnie – Sorry you have to switch OBs. I don’t even have an OB right now!! Still trying to figure this hospital thing out. I think I’m going to follow your lead and just get an OB now and if I need to switch then I’ll switch.

Icekid – Sorry you’re having such a rough go of it. You’re almost there lady! You can do it!

Circe – Forgot to say congrats to you!!

Nothing new on my end. Crazy sore boobs but that’s it. Oh, and I go to bed really early now and yawn all day long. At this rate people are going to start catching on.

I made DH start a journal too. He’s a much funnier writer than I am so I thought it would be best to have the journal from his POV. It’s really good so far, I’ll have to share some entries with you ladies one of these days when I have more time.

noel...ditto fiery on the belly button. mine just got almost flat towards the end but never went out...and now it''s as deep as it originally was.

Bliss- I love to lurk on here cuz I loved when I was pregnant and love to hear stories, but I have to say that the pic of your bebe is soooooo cute! I feel in love with mine when she was a tiny blob! I was in denial when I was told that I was pregnant because it was too good to be true. We tried for 8 months and when I was like when it happens, it happens...it did and I didn''t believe it! My mom said that she didn''t believe it and was thinking omg, what if your not pregnant and your sick omg. But sure enough when I went in to meet my OB and get the tests and stuff and told us that we would do the US I was like

and was laughing thru it. My mom was in shock and my DH was crying. We thought that he might pass out! I am so glad that this is really happening for you guys! It''s such an awesome experience and savor each and every moment! Take care of yourself too!
