Oh, on another note... are your DHs afraid of BD because they think they might hurt the baby? I cannot convince DH that it''s perfectly fine. He''s totally up for it but mentally afraid it will hurt the baby. GAH!!!! It''s kind of my fault because one time before BD, I jokingly said, ''Here comes Daddy to say hello!'' And DH froze in fear and it ruined the moment. LOL I think the thought of poking the baby (poppy seed) killed the romance! Clearly, men are clueless about the cervix & etc.
11.gif
It still makes me giggle.

Yes! not so much in the beginning, we tried once and were totally into it but psychically something was up with me and my body and it was really painful. Between that experience, the exhaustion and my mood swings, my sex drive was non-existent after that. Now it''s back and I''m embarrassed to say it''s been 5 months since we''ve DTD and now we''re dealing with the mental block of there being a kid in there combined with the logistical issues of working around the belly and the awkwardness of it having been 5 months since the last time we messed around. Don''t get me wrong, there''s plenty of intimacy in our marriage, it''s just been more on the level of hugging, kissing, cuddling and boob fondling than actual ACTION! I''m hoping our babymoon at the end of the month will help us rekindle things in that department. A bottle of wine would do the trick, but that''s not happening anytime soon...

Where is this babymoon you speak of? I''m so jealous! Our schedule is packed until the first week in July so I don''t think we''ll be having a babymoon.

Before I got KTFU, DH said he there was no way he would BD while I was pregnant. I just laughed. He only lasted a couple of weeks and wanted to BD.
9.gif
We''ve probably done *it* about 10 times since then but the last time was pretty uncomfortable and I couldn''t *finish* (I was 26 weeks at the time). It was so frustrating because I actually had drive which I hadn''t in a while.

Men!

We''re going to DC over memorial day weekend.

puppmom, Hudson Hawk...thanks for your honesty! It can be awkward for sure! For us, it's mentally awkward since we're so early on. DH and I tried to BD and I kept laughing...it was so funny to see how scared he was!
11.gif
I am so evil! So after a few false starts, success! I think preggo hormones make me BD crazy, which I hope goes away. I want to let the poppy seed rest!

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in with hugs and these positive pregnancy affirmations for us!

Hudson, I'm jealous! Babymoon? Awesome!!!!!!!

Bliss - you can''t call it BDing anymore, sweetheart.
2.gif
no, my DH has a bit of a medical background so he knows what is happening to me physically. unfortunately for him, between being exhausted and nauseous, I don''t feel in the mood often, but he gets lucky once in a while. he ruins the moment by saying, "Not too far from now, our kid will be opening the door saying ''Mommy! Daddy! What are you doing?'' and we''ll have to say: ''Go away. It''s seksi time.''" he is very helpful if any heavy lifting is required (I''m not talking about seksi time anymore, by the way), but I can''t get away with any pampering. he''s always there for me emotionally. what else could I ask for? and he always gets happy when I tell him I threw up because he knows that some people say that it means the pregnancy is progressing well. I also can''t wait for my baby bump! I guess it just makes it all the more real.

Kunzite - using LMP to calculate EDD is probably just easier because it''s based on averages. I think I am measuring ahead of schedule because I have a 26-day cycle, so on average I O 2 days before a woman with a 28-day schedule and then it probably implanted really early at 5DPO. I actually had a sharp pain for 15 min and spotting 5DPO. of course, it could have been anything else so I''m not 100% sure that was what it was. anyway, I''m not a doctor, so I''m obviously just guessing.

Bliss, we had a few giggling sessions ourselves. It''s not exactly a turn-on when youre keeps saying "ouch" and "stop pressing on my stomach".

Noelwr! Hehehehehehehe!!!! OMG! You're right! What do we call BD now????? LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, that is so funny! Your DH is hilarious! Seksi time!!! LOL Regarding my DH, who has a science background - I do NOT know where his 3rd grade questions are coming from! Seriously!!!!!! It is crazy! I think their logic goes right out the window! Seriously, some of his questions make me think (secretly), "What are you...FIVE?" LOLOL Oh, and I am with you - can't wait for the belly bump! Watch us complain when we get huge.
31.gif

puppmom, isn't it sooo funny???! I have NO idea how we'll manage when I get bigger. I don't think I'll like it as much... can't imagine how it would be fun for me if there's a beach ball between me and DH! Maybe we'll have to get creative.
31.gif

Lots of hugs and love, pretty mamas!

My DH still wants to, but I told him no BD until the 2nd trimester! I''m too paranoid and want to make sure everything keeps going well.

My NT scan is scheduled for Friday, May 28th! I am so excited and nervous at the same time.

Anyone else planning on doing one soon?

Anyone else planning on doing one soon?

Just a quick note b/c I need to spend some time with hubby tonight! Mine is actually May 27, too funny. It was a pain in the butt to schedule. My office was adamant that it had to be between exactly 12-13 weeks. But can''t wait, they seem to result in some great photos and a baby who really looks like a baby.

Ultrasound yesterday was a total bust! After we got there, the office called our insurance who said they would not pay for it since I had the "same" ultrasound at 7 weeks plus the NT coming up. Really not a big deal, except that we were expecting it! So a little disappointing, but our insurance is really great so I''ll try not to complain
2.gif

icekid - sorry it didn't work out yesterday. I think that may be part of the reason they won't let me have a 10w scan, either. though I'd be willing to pay for it myself, since we didn't get a DVD done. I have no idea how much it would cost. anyway, I think I will also ask for the NT scan between 12-13 weeks (I'm more interested in the u/s than the screening), so maybe I can be patient until then. I think that's the 2nd week of June. I'll discuss with the mid-wife. now that I think about it, in Holland the NT scan is optional and usually not covered by insurance unless you are over 35.

a whole different topic: telling your parents. did anyone see the GLEE episode where Finn thought he was Quinn's baby daddy and decided to tell her parents by singing "Having My Baby" over the dinner table? I thought that was hilarious.

Ladies having the NT scan. PLEASE try and get a full body profile shot (and then post it here of course) so we can try and guess the angle of the dangle!

Icekid -- that sucks...do you know when you could get another one?

Really quick...I was putting on self tanner this morning and my DH asked if it was okay to do. I told him I thought so, but that I would ask you guys. Do any of you know if it''s okay???

Lanie, I haven''t read anything that states that self tanner is not safe. But I haven''t read anything that says it is. I think if it''s just topical it''s probably OK. I''d probably avoid the spray tans though. I don''t like breathing that stuff in when NOT pregnant, so I definitely don''t want to now!

my google research says it''s ok to use self tanners.

I have had to stop tanning on the sunbed. I will eventually have to get rid of it because it''s in the room that will be the nursery, and I don''t have room for it anywhere else.
7.gif
oh well, rather have a baby than a tanning bed.

I would think you''re fine. :)

So, I've been awfully hungry lately! Other times, I feel like I can't eat a full snack -- like it's too much food at one time. Strange.

How about everyone else? And, what types of snacks are you bringing to work? I've been trying to include a protein (cheese or yogurt) with a carb. Cottage cheese is the best food in the world right now!!

I'm also very tired and feeling a bit absent-minded. Is it just me? I feel like my mind is in a wonderland, and I can't quite focus entirely on anything. Hoping this straightens out soon . . . .

I haven''t looked in on this thread in a while, am I reading correctly?? Are Noel and Bliss preggo??

I'm exactly the same way! I'll be starving, but then after a few bites, my stomach feels so full, like I ate a huge Thanksgiving feast or something. Weird.

Also definitely a bit absent-minded and forgetful.

Snacks...I have a major sweet tooth with this pregnancy. For healthy stuff, I've been living off tons of fruit, cottage cheese, and yoghurt. Also, I'm really liking scrambled eggs.

Men!

We''re going to DC over memorial day weekend.
Hey HH, I see that you will be in my neck of the woods. If you guys decide you would like to emerge from your room for food, etc, let me know and I would by happy to give you some recs for great restaurants or things to do
35.gif

icekid! Sorry about not getting to have an ultrasound, but how exciting about your NT scan! I've been told to call the hospital to schedule one as well since they usually like to know in advance. I can't imagine that I'm anywhere near near ready to get one, though! Maybe they book up in advance. Ohhhhh, I bet you are so excited to get another peek of your bean! How are you feeling?

noelwr! I was looking at my last pregnancy's ultrasound bills and though my insurance paid each one in full, I saw they were around $450-500 with all the little fees. You can be patient, I know you can! You're my hand holder for the next 3 weeks so we can be your hand holders until your next scan! Awww, I'm sure your room will look much cuter as a nursery than as a tanning center! Your baby will thank you!

Hudson! Good idea! Oh please Lord, if I make it far enough to have the NT scan... I will be sure to ask for a full body profile shot! I am secretly hoping for no dangle, but DH is hoping for a big dangle!

Lanie! I'm with Noelwr - I think self tanner is OK. How are you doing, pretty lady?

Loves Vintage!!! You know what is weird? I'm not even that much hungrier these days! I am still waiting for the bloat and the huge boobs to reappear. They'll be there some days and then go away the next. I am very very tired, though! I can't get enough sleep! Our friend had a baby recently and she cited Pregnant Brain as a legitimate reason for mental fogginess. I plan to cite Pregnant Brain a lot in the future, if I am lucky enough!

Somethingshiny!!!! Yes, Noel and I are preggo!!!!! Thank you so much! How are you doing, gorgeous mama??? Your bump is lovely!

**********
Does anyone still chart during pregnancy? I saw my temps take a small dive and got soooo worried. Then I looked it up and preggos in general were advised not to temp because the BBT can be erratic during pregnancy and it freaks women out. The scientist in me wants to temp but the freaked out pregnant woman tells me to put the therm away!!!
6.gif
Poor DH and I need to relax! Every little sign or symptom freaks us out! I'm sure Dr. Kind is in for a wild ride with 2 paranoid parents-to-be! Do any of you take HPTs anymore? I take one once a day... It just makes me feel better, even though it doesn't really tell you much!

ETA: DH just sent me an e-mail asking which book I'd recommend for daddies-to-be. He sent me this link - anyone have experience with these books?
Daddies-to-be Article / Book recommendation

Oh Bliss-Dr. Kind won''t know what hit him:-)

Put down the thermometer and walk away!!!

3.gif
I knew you''d be secretly hoping for no dangle
2.gif

Bliss, I still temp every once in a while just for fun. I''m at 53 DPO now, lol. My temps have gotten a bit lower at times, but they''ve never gone below the coverline. But in general, there''s really no need and you''ll probably make yourself worry unnecessarily!

BELLAAAA!
31.gif
It cracks me up to see you write Dr. Kind! C''mon! You know you wanna say it! Kind and....?
31.gif

Oh, thank you SO much for the reassurance. DH has been coming up with all sorts of crackpot ideas as to why such as, "It''s been colder in NY the past 2 days." My favorite one was, "I think I saw you sleeping with your mouth open." (I wasn''t, really!) I hate that it came so close to my coverline because today marks the end of my luteal phase. Lu-teeee-aaaaal phase! Hahaha - from the Ovulation Celebration song... I can hear the pee stick singing that! I need to be sent to the whackadoodle farm already! Super hugs, Bella!

Oh Laila, you temp? Woohoo, 53 DPO!???? FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!
36.gif
I am a measly 15 DPO. I know! I know! Seems like the egg just met the Phelps yesterday! Oh, I would love to be 53 DPO!!! Ah, what a wonderful thing to be so far along! I know it''s still early, but 53 DPO sounds glorious to me right now!
36.gif

OK, I am sending my faithful Walgreens BBT to Siberia! Esghaghlleqamken, Walgreens BBT therm! (I looked it up and that''s goodbye in Siberian Yup''ik!)

Oh thanks hun! I''d love a recommendation for a nice place for dinner. We''re staying on Cap Hill so somewhere near the metro would be ideal. We''re doing dinner one night already in Alexandria.

I pretty much grew up in DC so I''m well versed in fun touristy things to do. DH has only ever been for business and has never so much as visited a monument so we''re going more for him.

LOL, well all babies have a dangle at 12 weeks, but you can sometimes guess the gender based on how it''s hangin. A horizontal or downward angle usually implies girl whereas a hard on or less "dangle" implies boy.

DH liked "My Boys Can Swim" because it was funny. He read other books, there''s a section of What to Expect When You''re Expecting for dads, but that was a waste of time. Even though he read the books he thought he was the exception to the rule with everything like a bitchy hormonal wife during the first tri. Hopefully your husband is a little more realistic than mine was!

Bliss, I''m so happy for you!! Huge congrats!!!!

Baby Lily is doing well and we''re beginning the countdown--63 days!!

SHINY - yes I am. 8w2d according to LMP, 8w6d according to u/s.
9.gif

Loves Vintage - I''ve only been turned off by food once. I seem to have no problems finishing my meals. gosh, that''s embarrassing. and I also snack all day long at work to keep the m/s away. people at work must think I''m a pig. my snacks consist of yoghurt, granola bar, cookies (some with fruit, some with chocolate), and once a day I''ll have hot chocolate because it is so hard to find a drink that doesn''t put me off. at home I like to have milk, but I allow myself only one glass. I''d probably like Coke, but I stay away from the caffeine and other carbonated drinks.

Bliss - my insurance company still hasn''t sent me any info on my previous pregnancy u/s and d&c. anyway, I was looking at a Dutch website with u/s prices, and a regular u/s costs $50. the most expensive are the 20w u/s ($185) and the NT scan for the same price. I did do a few HPTs leading up to the day before the u/s. but that''s just because they would expire in June. I''ve still got more that don''t expire until 2011, so I''ll keep those in the closet for now.

I also gave "My Boys Can Swim" to DH. don''t think he''s read much of it. he was looking up the development of the baby on the internet, though. my "What to Expect when You''re Expecting" is missing the dad section! it''s got the 1st page and then the next page is about having a chronic condition.
26.gif
I bought it in Singapore. maybe they don''t find the dad section that important there.

DH already dreamed twice that we were going to have a boy... a blond one. not going to happen. there are only brunettes in my family. however, he dreamt I was pregnant before I knew I was so maybe this boy prediction will also turn out to be true. I don''t mind either way.

OMG... I feel like a doof. All these insurance issues turned out to be non-issues after all. I recently switched from a PPO to HMO, and when I called for the info, I gave them the PPO card #. The co-pay for PPO is 20% of the total bills. The co-pay for HMOs is $350 for delivery(out of network), and $25 for most Dr visits. Octavia, thanks for the rec. I actually had called them before I had this all straightened out, and the first available appt was June 9th! I would be 12 weeks by then, and was a little disappointed that they couldn''t fit me in sooner. So I get to stick with my OB after all. I''m excited about that, but so annoyed I went through all this rigamarole! I guess I can blame it on preggo-brain
3.gif

Thanks for all your inputs re: M/S and queasiness factor. I was just interested to see if there was a co-relation. Looks like for most of us, there is.

LV - so funny you''re already researching furniture!! I''m not quite there yet. My older brother offered all my nephew''s stuff to me, so I''ll pick through all that before I even think about what I need/don''t need. About the hunger - one minute I''m not hungry at all, the next, I NEED TO EAT! It''s nuts! I''ve been on a huge fruit kick lately. My OB told me to eat a lot of protein - I''ve been using it as an excuse to eat Jamaican beef patties (not very good for you, but so delish!) Weird, though - I weighed myself at work today, and I weigh 3 lbs less than May 4th (my appt). Could be the ''I''m so full so quick" issue Laila''s dealing with (I am too)

Bliss... I guess we could call BD DTD, or maybe BK (Baby Knockin''??). On your other note, my DH doesn''t seem to have any issues with ''bothering'' the baby!! Sometimes I wish he did! I''m more afraid than him, particulary b/c I had a spot one morning after DTD... But we''ve done it a number of times since the BFP, and I''ve gotta say, it''s been the best I''ve ever had (((so sorry if that was TMI!))). I had a good giggle at your water fetcher comment!!! My DH has been a great water fetcher/ice-cream-man chaser-downer too!! lol

Icekid... sorry about the U/S!! My SIL just had her NT at 13 weeks, and I agree, the pic is AMAZING! It''s so cool that your 2 1/2 inch baby looks like a BABY, yanno??

HH... I''m gonna have to look into this "My Boys Can Swim" book. It''d be a great first Father''s Day present for DH!!!

Noel...Too cute about your DH''s dream! I had a dream I got a BFP, only a week after O, and it came true. Dreams can be very telling!

My NT and sequential screen are scheduled for June 16th. My Dr was adamant about the 13th week, also. I''m looking forward to an awesome pic!!
8w5d today!! lol... you guys made me calculate it - 47DPO!!! It''s so weird that I''ve missed 2 periods already!

Anyone feeling their abs stretching?? SOmetimes I feel like I''ve just done a bunch of sit-ups, and then it goes away. So strange.
Oh, and BBs are hurting like CRAZY in the mornings, but the soreness seems to subside after a couple hours. Still counting my blessings that I have no M/S.

Hope you''re all doing well!!!!!
