Icekid, you look great!! So cute!

Hi newly preggos! Congrats to all of you. I am not newly preggo (I have a 6 month old DD), but I wanted to give you some info on BPA in cans - BPA is in plastics, not metal. So it is only an issue in cans that are lined with plastic. Canned tomatoes are a big one because they line them due to the acidity. But you wouldn''t have to worry about BPA in a can of soda for instance, because there is no plastic lining.

lol bliss i just had to chime in and say i loved how you thought all the milk came out in the center!! i had no idea either but there are multiple exit points and they are all over the nipple! and all ducts aren''t in use all the time. it''s kind of crazy actually. towards the end of the pregnancy i could squeeze the boob and milk would form.

all you early preggos look great!

Laila! Beauuuuuutiful belly! Man, I want one like yours! Wow, you stayed tiny but just your belly and bbs popped at 11 weeks! Gorgeous!
36.gif
I'm so jealous!

NovemberBride, thank you for the advice!!!! I wonder if restaurants use canned tomatoes? I'd imagine most of them do for sauces and the like... Thanks again! And congrats on your little bambino!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, 6 months already? So lucky!

Mara, HAHAHAHA! I had no idea my nipples were more like watering can type devices with so many holes. Geez! Now, THAT is Sci Fi!
23.gif

Hope all you newly preggos are doing well!

My boobs are so sore and heavy now, it hurts to walk! Every bounce hurts! And the bloat finally got here. Woohoo! I feel so crappy now - and all the familiar urges to lie on the couch 24/7 are creeping back. Poor DH. He is experiencing all of my pregnancy symptoms, down to the little belly! Where did that come from? He's nauseated... he has headaches... he has strange cravings! Heck, he may be more pregnant than I am! We looked up sympathy pregnancy symptoms in men and apparently some men do experience the same things their wives do. LOL... then, I fear for him during birth! Can you imagine DH howling about his "contractions?"

Ice, you look fantastic!! I can see a teeny tiny bump!! Sooo cute!!

I can''t believe you''re 12 weeks already...boy does time fly!

Laila, I am IN LOVE with your bump!! I can''t wait till I have one like that! Adorable!! You''re right, you definitely popped since 9 weeks, and I think you look great!!
9.gif

LOL @ the boob convo

Lynnie - Winnie the Pooh will be super cute! I can''t wait to start planning our nursery!

Bliss - yaaaay for full-blown preggo symptoms!!
36.gif
Mine are getting there too. :)

------------------------------------

Speaking of preggo symptoms....my bb''s are hurting more and more, and getting big!! and veiny!! I told DH it''s like they just feel big and itchy and ouchy and HOT all the time. LOL. He laughed. Also, I am SOOO EXHAUSTED. The past 4 days in a row I''ve taken 2-4 hour naps in the afternoon even though I''m getting 8 hours each night. And I could keep napping, I just get up because I have to.

I have still been peeing on the Wondfos I have left over...today is 17 dpo and my line is as dark as the control line!! I love it!
36.gif

Off for a pizza dinner in front of LOST with the hubs!! :)

Hello!

I just wanted to jump in and say hi! I posted on the TTC board in late April or early May. At that time I just started to temp and make sure that I knew what was going on before my husband and I started TTC. Everyone on there was so helpful and answered my questions right away. We were planning on trying this summer (July or August). Well, I began temping for real in May and was really getting in to it (joined FF, woke up every AM at 5:00). Low and behold, 1 night of throwing caution to the wind and here I am, 4 weeks 2 days (I think, i don''t entirely trust the ovulation day that FF gave me, as it doesn''t line up with getting pregnant), but I do trust the EPT digital test I took, plus the 2 other FRER sticks and the 3 CVS brand(couldn''t seem to believe it was a faint line I guess).

So, I''m totally freaked out, not feeling really ready for this, and my DH is gone for 2 weeks (I did tell him yesterday over the phone, not the best way, but I couldn''t hold it in for 2 weeks until he got back). It''s so hard not to blurt it out to everyone, but I''m being cautious, because I''m so scared of what might happen in the meantime.

No real symptoms, other than sore BBs (which was what made me test, cause I never have sore BBs) and I''m not hungry AT ALL, but that could be because it is high 80s here, which is really unusual for May.

FF says my due date is Feb. 1, which is funny because our 2 year anniversary is Jan.31 and my b-day is Feb 2nd. I guess I will be calling my ob on Monday, but I''m sure I won''t be seen until 8-10 weeks, but I''m wondering if they will have me come in for a blood test sooner than that. Other than my annual exams, I never go to the OB, so I''m not really sure what to expect. I''m looking forward to stopping the lurking, and getting to know you ladies!

I''m so Type A that not being able to control things is messing with my head! I''m already trying to figure out what to do for daycare for the 6 weeks that I will have to go back to work for until summer vacation begins (I''m a teacher).

Yikes!

Wellinsm!!, Welcome and CONGRATULATIONS!!! So exciting!! Regarding your first appointment, it really depends on your ob/gyn and their office practices. They may have you come in for a blood test to confirm pregnancy, or they may have you set an appointment for a few weeks from now. I bet you can't wait to make that phone call!! Congratulations again!!

Laila, Oh my goodness!! I can't believe those pics are just two weeks apart. Wow! You look amazing!

Bliss, I've thought about restaurants too. I'm going to ask the next time I think there's a chance canned tomatoes are used. I think we'll be eating at home a lot more!

Icekid, I found some tomatoes (Pomi brand) in a carton container, that is apparently BPA-free. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/02/03/AR2009020300535.html I almost purchased some Eden brand tomatoes because I read they use BPA free cans, but apparently that is only their beans?!?!!? So, $3.99 for a can of ORGANIC tomatoes contaminated with BPA -- madness!!

NovemberBride, Thanks so much for chiming in on the BPA issue. I think the resin coating is used in soda cans as well, but because of the lack of acidity in soda, compared to some other products like tomatoes, when it is tested, not as much BPA has "leached out" into soda products so they are deemed to be a lower risk product.

CDT1101, Congratulations!!! We are a few days apart! So happy to have you here! I think the rest of us are all newbies here, so we WELCOME your perspective.

haha, you ladies are great. I was taking belly shots this morning because I think I am finally looking skinny again (after throwing up last night), and thought it might be weird to post here because it isn't Friday, but glad to see you ladies had the same idea.

question to anyone else throwing up: do you feel better after? I usually am able to not throw up though I feel awful for hours and yesterday I couldn't hold it in any more and I felt better afterwards. so your opinions? try to keep it in or just let it out?

Laila - lovely! I especially love the paper you stick to your side with tape. do you like your belly scratched and rubbed? I do.

wellinsm - welcome! can you get family to help you in the 6 weeks before summer vacation?

this is me at 9w5d. there's nothing to see. it's all just my own belly and I am REALLY tucking in my tummy and making my back straight. any advise on taking good belly pics?

noelwr9w5d.JPG

and much more interesting than my belly shots but still relevant for this thread, here is a cardigan I finished knitting for a colleague of mine who is going on maternity leave.

Noel-for belly pics I usually stand up straight which pulls in your abs. I don''t suck in and I don''t let it all hang out. Does that make sense? It should be proper posture but a relaxed pose. I''ve also found that my arm position can affect how the bump looks so I''ve started trying the same position in each picture to keep things consistent.

thanks HH. I''m too afraid of the relaxed pose because then I just look fat. but I hear you on being consistent every week for good comparison.

Laila! What a cutey patootey belly you have! I can''t believe how much you''ve grown in just 2 weeks! Hahaha!!!

noelwr -- what a beautiful sweater! Your coworker will love it! No help from me on the vomiting...I''ve only done it twice (once was dry heaving while brushing my teeth...ugh), so not sure. I don''t think I would feel better if I threw up...I think I''m just doomed until 3-4 more weeks (hopefully).

Mara and Bliss -- I also had NO idea that milk came out of multiple holes! Is that what those weird Montgomery bumps are for? I have this fear that I won''t be able to breast feed, and that was compounded when I starting looking at prices of formula when I was at the grocery store.

Wellinsm -- congrats and welcome! I''m a teacher as well, and after my mat leave, I think I''ll have about 3 months of school where I have to figure out something. We were thinking of getting a nanny, then once I was out for the summer I would take over, and then put the little tyke in daycare starting in the fall again. Not sure what to do, because I''d hate to have him/her in daycare for 3 months, then have to pay all summer long for something I won''t use. You lose your spot if you yank them out during the summers...I''ve asked around at my school and every teacher here says they have to pay for the whole summer. Sucks, but I guess that''s the way it goes. Let me know what you guys decide to do!

HOU -- where are you going to deliver your baby? That cracks me up that you''re still peeing on a stick. I guess might as well use them because you won''t need them for a least another year when they''ll probably be expired! Hope you don''t get m/s, or at least not too bad.

icekid -- you don''t look preggo at all to me! I think it''s hard to see with a shirt on at this stage, but you look great! Love the enormous boobs! Haha! I have some that are similar...I was never blessed upstairs. Can''t believe you are almost out of the first tri! You must be so anxious to jump that hurdle.

Lynnie -- thanks for that link! I need to play with it. I remember seeing it awhile back and thinking the photos were hilarious!

I''m just plugging along here at 9w5d. Almost a quarter of the way done!!! Still feeling like poo poo. I''m getting kind of bothered by people sharing my info when I''m not ready for it yet. I''ve told very few close friends, who I know won''t tell anyone, and I told some coworkers, who then spread it around work, despite the fact that I told them not to. It''s not their news to tell! In fact, when I told my mom, she called up my sister within seconds and told my sister right in front of me!
29.gif
I didn''t even get to! Plus my SIL and BIL have been telling our extended family, and they are a month behind us. Some family members made the comment that they knew they would have the first grandchild...well news flash, they aren''t. When they finally find out we are pregnant, I''d be willing to bet they will be hurt that we didn''t let them know sooner, like my SIL and BIL. We just aren''t ready yet, and it''s hard, and I''m just complaining. Sorry.

Hey ladies! Just got back from the u/s and HB was 132! My son''s was much higher at this point (156), but again trying not to make myself crazy w/ the differences this time around.

I''m sad though, they didn''t give me any images
38.gif
Not sure why, because I got them last time, but I did get to see the little HB on the monitor. So cute! So far everything looks good, measure 2 days behind, but I''m a late ovulater so I expected that.

Everyone looks GREAT!

Congrats cdt!!! That sounds like a great hb! If they didn''t seem concerned, you "shouldn''t" be either. But I know that''s easier said than done. Yay!!!

Icekid... You look GREAT!!!!!
36.gif
36.gif
36.gif
12 weeks!!! Wow! And yay for big bb''s!!! How cute about your mom, too
1.gif
Is it her first grandchild? About the shower... I think the plan allows for me to tear through the presents quickly, too! hehe... and I think it''d allow for a good game, too. Everyone could guess the sex, and we could have a raffle for the winners for a prize. I''m thinking soooo far ahead, though! I must stop myself! haha It''s almost time for you to move on the the big preggo thread!!!! I''m so excited for you!!!

Laila!! Your belly is awesome!!!! You really have popped!! I actually think I let out a "Holy crap!!" when I saw your pics!!! lol I hope I pop like you!!! It''ll all seem a little more real then, you know?

Bliss... lol @ watering can!!!! YOu are too funny! I hear you on the exaustion, too... I felt great yesterday, so I stopped over my mom''s, then the grocery store. I had been thinking, ''wow, I''m not too tired today''. Well, standing in line to check out, a wave of tiredness came over me!!! It was awful! I got home and couldn''t even help DH put the stuff away! That''s funny about your DH! Mine craves sweets, but that''s nothing new
3.gif
I fear he''ll pass out during delivery... he''s not so good with blood and stuff!

HOU... LMAO at you still POAS! Oh, and the itchiness!!! Drives me crazy!! I guess it''s from them expanding?

Does anyone have days where their bbs don''t hurt so bad? Mine aren''t that bad today.... It makes me nervous, I''ve only got a few symptoms, and I don''t want them disappearing!!

wellinsm!!! Congrats and welcome!!!!
36.gif
36.gif
36.gif
Ditto LV on the OB... I didn''t get seen until 7.5 weeks. Best of luck and sticky dust!!! Re: Nannies... I''m sure you''ll figure it all out
1.gif

LV, thanks for the heads up about the BPA!

Noel! You look fabulous, too!! And that sweater is TOO cute!! It IS hard to take belly shots, right??

Cdt... congrats on hearing the HB!!!! So exciting!!

Lanie... I had a good giggle at ''they KNEW they would have the first grandchild''! Sounds like my inlaws
11.gif
People can''t keep their mouths shut, right?? One day I got a ''congrats'' message from someone on FB (one of my friend''s sisters).... I don''t know HOW she found out! I didn''t even tell her sister! Don''t be sorry about complaining!!!! You tell them when YOU''RE ready!! I haven''t told a lot of folks yet, either. And if they''re upset, oh, well. You can''t make everyone happy all the time, right?

You have all inspired me to post a belly shot! So here it is... taken yesterday morning, at 10 weeks. I couldn''t decide which one to post, so I collaged them. I must be standing differently, because the right belly looks bigger! Sorry they came out so dark... I think my camera was confused, because of that awful shiny wallpaper in my bathroom
40.gif

10wkslynnbelly.jpg

Lynnie - I''m kind of going thru something similar. I just have very little symptoms. That''s why I''m so nervous. I "should" be happy that I''m not sick/nauseous, but I wish I were that way I''d feel more pregnant...sick I know
3.gif
Try not to worry too much, my bbs weren''t sore w/ my last pregnancy and are not sore this time at all either. They just feel heavy. Super cute belly pic!

Thanks Lanie!

Lanie - I really hear you on holding off on telling people. how rude that others went and spread the word! that's why I haven't even told my friends at the office. actually, only one friend knows this time (old friend, not at work) but she doesn't know anyone else I know to tell. last time I told a few people, no one at the office, and it was crap having to e-mail them later to tell them there was going to be no baby. I think that's why our families are also very cautious about spilling the news this time around. my mom and I haven't even told my brother yet. we will wait until after the NT scan results. but I'm sure there will be know-at-all people at work who will say "Oh, I already thought you were a long time ago!" I can't wait to tell them that no, they didn't know, I had a miscarriage and it really hurt when they thought I was and wasn't, so stop asking everyone when they're going to have kids because it's not as easy as that. ok and that's my vent for today.

and to lighten the mood... we had dinner at friends' house on Sat, and when I came into the kitchen, my friend opened the fridge and showed me some bottles of rosé that she got especially for me. she remembered when she was at our place a few months ago that I drank it. I don't know if she saw my face drop. I felt really bad that she did such a kind thing and I had to pretend that I was only in the mood for juice! can't wait to tell her the truth one day so that we can laugh it off and she won't think I'm not thankful.

cdt - they didn't even measure the heartbeat for me. the u/s technician just looked at it and said "That's good." and they won't even listen for it because they think the sound waves could be harmful to do before 12 weeks. at least the place I'll go to next week will let me hear it. can't wait.

so off-topic- but noel- where are those cute pants from in your belly pic? i love them!!!

Laila- You look fabulous! Your belly is so cute and so obviously PREGNANT! Are people starting to ask you yet?

Bliss- Thanks! I feel huge sometimes already
3.gif
This pregnancy thing is going to be one crazy trip. And I SO know what you mean about the sore boobage; mine are better now, but even my tiny ones hurt just from moving. So nuts!

HMG- I definitely have a little bump.. too crazy
9.gif
And I cannot believe the 12 weeks either. Time flies when you''re having fun (or working all of the time haha.) And soooo with you on the exhaustion thing, yikes. There have been days that I seriously fell asleep at 7 pm! Hehe, love that you are still POAS... I did for a week-ish post BFP, since what else would I do with them?! It was nice to see them get darker.

wellinsm- CONGRATS! and welcome
36.gif
36.gif

LV- Thanks for the BPA free tomatoes tip! Once I get a grocery store trip together, totally from scratch tomato soup is on my list because it is one of the few things that actually sounds good.

Noelwr- You look great! I hear you on the changing belly, though. Some days I feel huge, and some just a little bigger than normal. And YES, I do feel better after throwing up but only for a little while. Sometimes I want to throw up so badly and can''t do it. If I were you, I''d just let my body do its thing and vomit. That cardigan is sooooooo adorable; so wish that I could knit. Hand made baby clothes are soo sweet
30.gif

Lanie- Hehe, think I took my belly shot on a "good" day. Some are definitely more preggo than others, it seems. Ugh, that sucks that your family is being so silly about the pregnant stuff. I''m sure it will all blow over when you''re ready to tell your big news. Hopefully no one will be too petty about finding out "late!"

cdt- Congrats on seeing that wonderful little flicker. Super news!!

Lynnie- Yes, this is my parents'' first grandchild. And really, it''s a tie on my hubby''s side since SIL and I are due 7 weeks apart. They both feel like first grandchildren since there is not one that has arrived yet. I really do love the shower announcing gender idea. Your MIL will just have to suck it up! You look fabulous... such a cute early preggo you are! I think once we have a good nuchal trans scan I will start posting more on the "big girl" thread, but I''ll definitely be sticking around here, too. I am too attached to you ladies to leave!
9.gif

--------------------------------------------------
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! We''re going to watch LOST that is on our DVR now.. super excited!

Thanks for the belly pic comments everyone!
2.gif

Noel, you look great! I definitely see your little bump. I love those pants too!

Lynnie, you're so cute!...very trim and toned!

Icekid
, I did have someone at a party ask me if I was expecting. I blushed and said no. We're still not 'out' yet!

Welcome to wellinsm and cdt! Cdt, a heartbeat of 132 is good...how far along are you?
Waving to Bliss, Lanie, HOU, and Vintage!! Hope you girls are doing well!

Charbie - those are my pj pants! in Jan 2009 we went to South Africa to visit DH's family, and his mom said that she and I were going to sew stuff together. she is really creative & talented. so we sewed 3 pajamas, a skirt and a blouse. ok, it was mostly her telling me what I should do and me just trying to keep it straight on the sewing machine, but it was good bonding. she also taught me how to knit which is what I'm better at.

i figured they were pj pants- but they are soooooo cute! i love the pattern- what talent you two both possess!

Laila - I''m 7 weeks 5 days, although I''m measuring a couple days behind because I ovulate later. I know 132 is a great and they told me it looked nice and strong, I''m just so nervous this time around
4.gif

Noel - Well they didn''t tell me the rate they just said it was strong, I couldn''t resist asking and then she told me. I wish I could just relax!

How''s everyone feeling today? I''m not feeling so hot this morning. Just more nauseous then I''ve been and strangely happy about that
9.gif

Such cute bellies!! And so tiny!! You all look gorgeous!

As I was skimming I saw something about BPA. One poster said that soda cans weren''t lined so they wouldn''t have BPA. My FIL works for a major company that makes the plastic product that lines those cans and I know they have contracts with Pepsi and Coke. Whoever was concerned--I''d do more research if this is important to you because they are lined in something, just not sure if it''s the BPA stuff or not.

Hope you''re all feeling well today!

Laila - That''s funny/adorable that you replied no when someone asked you directly! I don''t think I could keep it in. How did the person handle it when you told them no? Were they embarassed? That is too funny. I learned early on to never ask a woman if she is pregnant. I was in a training class for my first professional job. On the day that we all met our mentors, one of the students came back, slightly horrified, but still in good spirits. Her mentor asked her when she was due, and I think she even tried to pat her tummy!!! She WAS NOT pregnant!

So, are you sporting any maternity clothes yet?

*****

So, I know I talk about food all the time. Well, I''m going to do it again. I think it''s because I''m constantly thinking aobut eating. Like every hour and a half or so, I feel ravenously hungry. I had to go get a yogurt mid-post! Ahh, I feel better now. What is up with this? I have been eating a lot! I weighed myself yesterday morning and my weight was the same. This morning, up 3 pounds. Last night, I felt quite hungry before bed, but decided not to eat. Should I be eating every time I am hungry????? Over the past week, I''ve had two pangs of nausea, that were associated with hunger. After I ate, I was fine, so I am hoping that means I will not have M/S???

7 weeks and 1 day today! 2d U/S is tomorrow. Hope all is well! I think it will be!
1.gif

Hi LV! Good luck at your ultrasound tomorrow! I am sure everything is just fine with your LO! Do you then 'graduate' from your RE?

Yeah, it was sort of funny that I had to lie and say no when that woman asked if I was expecting. But we haven't even told our parents yet, so I didn't want her to be the first to know! She didn't seem embarrassed or anything...I think she didn't believe me actually! She was like hmmm, okay. Once we get the NT scan results, we will finally be 'out'.

Re: maternity wear...I can't fit into any of my non-maternity jeans or pants anymore, so it has to be elastic waist skirts or stretchy pants. Otherwise, I have to wear maternity bottoms. I've only bought two pairs so far though, both from Target for cheap. I hear you about being ravenously hungry all the time. I am too. I only get queasy when I'm hungry, so to stave the queasiness off, it seems like I'm constantly eating all day long!

Laila - I lie to people telling them that I''m not thinking of having children right now. and believe me, people constantly ask me considering I was married almost 9 months ago, especially at baby showers like I was at today.

LV - don''t worry about 3 lbs. that you can easily gain/lose in a day. my nausea is also generally cured by eating, but you will find out soon enough that you can''t physically eat 24/7, and you get to a point where snacking just doesn''t help. my worst time is before lunch and I try to pursuade my colleagues that they should go for lunch early. anyway, that''s just me so hopefully you will not have it so bad. hope all goes well at the u/s tomorrow.
