14,500 Palestinian children killed, 25,000 injured. So far.
Palestine has the highest number of child amputees per capita in the world,
unprecedented in modern war.

I dont know if you saw this. Not a surprise to me. Why would we trust a terrorist organizations self reporting death tolls? I wonder why they are coming clean now.

"Hamas quietly removed thousands of Palestinians it had previously alleged as killed during the war.
Hamas admits 72% of deaths are combat aged men and the civilian death toll previously reported by them is greatly reduced "

The Lancet, a publication you quoted and believed many times during COVID, has debunked these claims the last time the Zionist media tried to publish such a statement. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(23)02713-7/fulltext

The only groups reporting these numbers are news outlets that are Z publications and to me, that is propaganda. Other news outlets would be reporting them if it was real. There is no doubt that thousands and thousands of children have been killed, when is enough enough here? It seems like we are constantly trying to defend the massive daily killings of children, journalists, medics. It's too much.

I am Jewish too, and I think it's important we get news from varied sources so we can keep the focus on the very real problem of anti-semitism. Which I believe is different than anti-Zionism. Right now, I am more scared of the religious right in the US than Hamas. They pretend to be friends of the Jews when it is convenient but they ultimately want us gone too. I do not want to get in a fight about this as I know you have strong viewpoints but hope you would consider why you believe other news sources for COVID numbers which were also highly politicized but not for this.

Both extremes of the right and left parties hate the Jews. Nothing new there
Agree about varied news sources. One can’t blindly follow any political narrative
Stats above are no surprise as Israel doesn’t target civilians unlike Hamas

You can find the above stats in different publications

War has consequences. Would you have had the USA troops withdraw during ww2 because of civilian casualties? This war is no different. With the exception that Israel goes out of their way to avoid purposefully killing civilians and Hamas goes out of their way to target civilians

The UN and other human rights groups said they have broken a lot of rules in war and are targeting civilians and institutions. I would ask you to think about the idea that two realities are possible at the same time. That they pushed back against H originally for a good reason and that now it has gone too far. So many kids and innocent people who are just trying to live their lives under terrorist leadership are dying. It is no longer a reasonable response to an attack.

The Telegraph is widely known to be pro-Zionist. I will believe it when many of the human rights or medical organizations without skin in the game publish it.

The UN is as corrupt as can be

“If one removes the questionable data from the ministry’s numbers, it becomes clearer that Israel has made considerable efforts to minimize the war’s effect on civilians, while Hamas continues to use hospitals as fortresses”

Israel has every right to defend her people. Yes there are unintended casualties in war I agree. Unavoidable. Tragic. But again this can all end if Hamas releases the hostages and surrenders. Fact

Your post makes it sound like that quote is from a UN report, but it's from an opinion columnist who works at a neoconservative think tank that is pro-I. That's not an unbiased source either.

What sources can we trust if you do not trust the Lancet and the UN?

I would never quote the UN. Do you not agree they’re corrupt?

Wall Street journal

Please answer my questions. Do you agree this war would be over if Hamas released the hostages and surrendered?

I repeat. Israel has every right to defend herself and her people. And for anyone who truly wants an end to the war (I hope we all do) demand Hamas release the hostages and surrender. If that had been done by all initially this war would have been over long ago

I don't think the UN is corrupt. It is the place where most countries of the world place their trust in diplomacy.

The WSJ published that piece you quoted, but it is an opinion piece from a neoconservative pro-I think tank. It is not fact.

This war is almost a hundred years old, so I do not think a hostage release will fix it. I wish it was that simple. There will always be one more thing that provokes war, and each side is responsible for some of the provocation. I do not think anything is that simplistic.

This specific war. One day at a time. It’s all any of us can do. One. Day. At. A. Time. Release the hostages and surrender. That will stop the current casualties. However you do know Hamas is killing their own? Anyone who protests against them

Others here have used Wikipedia so here you go

Is it common to move "prisoners" around so much? Seems odd. That article mentions they are venue shopping, not sure that is legal either.

Also, that article talks about another student who was illegally arrested, who I'd not heard about, Rümeysa Öztürk.

"ICE agents arrested a graduate student at Tufts University due to her alleged support for Hamas. Federal officials have not provided any evidence of this. Administrators say that she did not violate any school policies and called for her release."

"A Fulbright Scholar, Öztürk is in good academic and administrative standing at Tufts, according to school officials. She was in the US on an F-1 student visa, which has since been revoked. Öztürk has not been accused of any crime. "

There they go again, arresting whoever they feel like with no charges. They'll make them up later. Terrifying.

I believe her case is being heard right now in Boston.

I brought that student up earlier in the thread. You should look at the video. It’s horrific.

Ugh I just saw it. Why would anyone even think they're police? A group of masked men surround a woman and start putting their hands on her, ushering her to an unmarked vehicle; horrific. And even bystanders calling out the sh**. It looks like a kidnapping!

They actually told her they were the police. But who would believe that with what they were wearing, and the masks. I gather the judge today said she's take her attorney's request that she be brought back to MA, under advisement.

I do think that these people are being shuttled to Louisiana purposefully as it is expected that the government will have more sympathetic judges there. Yes, forum shopping. But that is common practice on both sides of any legal issue when it can be done. However, apparently there was a claim that she was sent to LA because there was no room in New England, but that statement has been refuted.

The current US administration’s plan and policies want people to think and believe the UN is corrupt along with all the other allied created initiatives and proposals as it serves to distract and disrupt.
If my post is deemed inappropriate, happy for it to be removed by Ella otherwise it feels good to say it out loud!

@Brigid The UN has been corrupt for a very long time. And it has nothing to do with the current administration

As a reminder here is the UN’s mission, This is according to Article 1 of the Charter of the UN:

To maintain international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace and to bring about by peaceful means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace.

The UN has a responsibility to protect civilians including all those from any country killed by Hamas terrorists. What about the civilians in Ukraine, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Myanmar, and other places with ongoing war?

A documentary on those on the inside of the UN who have chosen to call out corruption, harassment, rape, and other illicit acts details several examples

The documentary includes former U.N. employees who were victims and reporters of sexual harassment and assault. “Sexual abuse, exploitation and harassment in the U.N. happens in headquarters, it happens Monday to Friday,” said former Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS senior advisor Martina Brostrom.

In 2015, Anders Kompass was suspended from his U.N. position after giving French authorities an internal U.N. report on French peacekeepers’ sexual abuse of children in the Central African Republic. The Guardian, “details the rape and sodomy of starving and homeless young boys by French peacekeeping troops who were supposed to be protecting them"

The U.N. goes to extreme to silence their employees. The fact is there is rampant corruption within the UN and this is nothing new. Instead of promoting human rights and social progress it does quite the opposite.

Peter Gallo (who was an investigator at the U.N.’s New York headquarters for years) "the organization is riddled with corruption from bottom to top.”

Just a couple more examples.

In 2010, there was a major cholera outbreak in Haiti following an earthquake. This outbreak was due to a UN peacekeeping base on the Artibonite River. Initially, the UN refused to investigate the outbreak within their compound. Because they knew. And their purposeful delay caused many more infections downstream from the compound. Eventually, the US CDC got involved and used DNA analysis to get to the origins of the outbreak. It was traced back to the UN peacekeeping base. The UN knew that their base was the source of infection but resorted to stalling tactics and in doing so many more people died. Way to go UN but you didn't care because your goals are not to protect the people rather to protect yourselves and be as corrupt as possible.

Also because of the UN the cause of Covid-19 may never be known. Due to a very slow response from the World Health Organisation (WHO). Another corrupt UN agency. I won't go into that now but yeah you can in part blame the UN for this too

And the most recent example of course.
This past January the United Nations Relief and Works Agency fired employees who took part in Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023 terror attack. Unfortunately this came as no surprise that U.N. employees participated in the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.
This is not a surprise to anyone who understands the fabric of the UN...so many years of institutional decay and corruption going all the way up the U.N. hierarchy. If a UN employee speaks out about wrong doing within the UN they are punished and fired.

The UN is morally bankrupt. FACT. Not dedicated to peace rather an organization filled with corruption and unethical behavior.

Back to Mahmoud.

The families of the hostages kidnapped in October of 23 by Hamas are now suing Mahmoud Khalil and several student groups for allegedly “aiding and abetting Hamas’ continuing acts of international terrorism.”

The lawsuit states “Defendants in this case are Hamas’ propaganda arm in NYC and on the Columbia University campus”

"“Their self-described acts in furtherance of their goals to assist Hamas have included terrorizing and assaulting jewish students. Unlawfully taking over and damaging public and university property on Columbia’s campus, and
physically assaulting Columbia University employees,” the families added."

Some hostages who were rescued also joined the families of the hostages in this lawsuit

The lawsuit alleges that Hamas sent a message abroad for it’s supporters to “join the battle in any way they can.”
The lawsuit names Khalil, Kiswani, Alwan and Jones of doing just that and arranging anti-Israel violent rallies at Columbia University.
The lawsuit alleges they spread chaos and violence across NYC and America
The lawsuit also alleges some of the defendants had prior knowledge of the Oct. 7 terrorist attack based on a statement released hours before the October 7th massacre
He is accused of being a leader of Columbia University Apartheid Divest

Legal experts say green card holders can be deported on national security grounds,
He had the privilege to be here and study at our (USA) university but instead of respecting that privilege he went ahead and decided to support and demonstrate for pro-terrorist organizations that have killed Americans.

I don't care what anyone here thinks. Let due process happen. But in my opinion he has no right to be here anymore. This is more than just free speech. Let the truth come out though I would not be suprised if justice is not served

You're absolutely right, Missy. Any Jewish person living in America who thinks they are safe from danger because they live here may be missing the under current against Jews that is trying to pick up speed. May the horror in Germany never be forgotten and people remember how easily the madness was accomplished.

Agree
The universal experience of being Jewish is one of strength and perseverance
We won’t give up fighting for what is right, true and just
No matter how many are wrongfully against us

Due process. If Khalil Mohammed….. or the worst person you know- if they don’t have due process, neither do you and I. This is so clear to many of us.
Getting sent, by accident, to an El Salvador prison- and we can’t even get them back. Oops.
If it can happen to them, it can happen to you. Standing up for the rights of people you vehemently disagree with is the only way we keep OUR rights.
A message is being sent- continually at this point. Be careful what you say. No unpopular voices or opinions will be tolerated.
First they came for the Palestinians but I wasn’t one ( and hated them) so I didn’t say anything. We all know how the rest of that goes.

Here's the correct quote David

"
First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

"

First they came for the Palestinians but I wasn’t one ( and hated them) so I didn’t say anything. We all know how the rest of that goes.

For the record I, personally hate no one
That takes way too much energy
I believe terrorist supporters do not have the privilege to live here
My opinion

And here's a bit of a history lesson for anyone interested

Before the State Of Israel was created, there was a British mandate, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the British Mandate, there was the Ottoman Empire, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the Ottoman Empire, there was the Islamic state of the Mamluks of Egypt, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the Islamic state of the Mamluks of Egypt, there was the Ayubid Empire, not a Palestinian state. Godfrey IV of Boulogne, known as Godfrey de Bouillon, conqueror of Jerusalem in 1099
-Before the Ayubid Empire, there was the Frankish and Christian Kingdom of Jerusalem, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the Kingdom of Jerusalem, there was the Umayyad and Fatimid empires, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the Umayyad and Fatimid empires, there was the Byzantine empire, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the Byzantine Empire, there were the Sassanids, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the Sassanid Empire, there was the Byzantine Empire, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the Byzantine Empire, there was the Roman Empire, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the Roman Empire, there was the Hasmonean state, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the Hasmonean state, there was the Seleucid, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the Seleucid empire, there was the empire of Alexander the Great, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the empire of Alexander the Great, there was the Persian empire, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the Persian Empire, there was the Babylonian Empire, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the Babylonian Empire, there were the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah, there was the Kingdom of Israel, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the kingdom of Israel, there was the theocracy of the twelve tribes of Israel, not a Palestinian state.
-Before the theocracy of the twelve tribes of Israel, there was an agglomeration of independent Canaanite city-kingdoms, not a Palestinian state.
Actually, in this piece of land there has been everything, EXCEPT A PALESTINIAN STATE

David this joke is funny and sad at the same time. And all too true

Two Jews walk into a bar
One is a Zionist
One is an anti Zionist
The bartender says
We don’t serve Jews here

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Please explain to me how this is any different???
I guarantee you that every group were villainized before persecution.
The specific group being villainized really doesn’t matter.
If we don’t protect their free speech we give up our own.

Missy. Any Jewish person living in America who thinks they are safe from danger because they live here may be missing the under current against Jews that is trying to pick up speed.

So I should "relax" in regards to breaking trade agreements and tariffs, but I should start freaking out about anti semitism?
I live in NYC, not afraid at all.
But if I am concerned it's more about white supremacists, not Arabs.
When will they start deporting KKK members?

David this joke is funny and sad at the same time. And all too true

Missy - I appreciate the attempt at levity.

Two Jews are walking by a church.
There's a sign outside "
"We pay $50k if you convert"
One jew says, "Let's do it!!"
The other declines- but offers to wait for the first guy.
When he emerged, the guy waiting outside was curious.
"Didja get the $50k????"

The other guy replied
"That's all you people think about is money"

If we don’t protect their free speech we give up our own.

I repeat, this is not about free speech. It is about inciting violence against the jews and anyone else who doesn't agree with them

Columbia Prof. Marianne Hirsch: Mahmoud Khalil Arrest Reminds Me of Growing Up Under Authoritarianism

"Hirsch grew up in Romania under the authoritarian regime of Nicolae Ceaușescu and says she sees parallels between the climate of fear she was raised in and the repression of speech and protest on campuses today. Hirsch, who is Jewish, condemns the “anticipatory capitulation” of universities, like Columbia, to the Trump administration’s threats to pull funding and says “the reason for this was never to fight antisemitism, but it was to decimate academia.”
