Thanks everyone!

Cellentani, when I went in for my day-after appt, my left eye was 20/20 and my right eye 20/25. The doctor said the right eye will probably get better and my vision should stabilize fairly soon. My right eye was significantly worse than my left (although it was the one that corrected itself of astigmatism - huh). My right one was -5.25 and my left was -2.75, with astigmatism.

it was definitely not fun going to sleep once i got home - I think my body just didn''t like the valium, and I was uncomfortable, so I was kind of half-asleep most of the time, and woke up with my heart racing

But last night and the night before, I slept comfortably (well as comfortably as you can with foam padded goggles on!) and while my right eye is still dry (left is totally fine, don''t need artificial tears or anything), I''m very comfortable. I am seriously so so so glad I had the surgery - it''s incredible waking up and realizing that I can see with no contacts, glasses, etc.
YAY!!!

I''m so glad it went well, BEG! Now you have new, improved brown eyes!

I''m so glad it went well for you! I must admit - I''m still too much of a chicken, LOL! And my eyes are still getting worse every year anyway, so I''ll have to wait. But still - so cool for you!

I''m always scared that I won''t focus on the light or something and they''ll screw up.

I was going to have this done in November, ::sigh::, I chickened out. I am now thinking of doing it during my next break. The thing that worries me most is that I won''t see as well (or better) than I do now with contacts. I worry I''ll regret it and it will be too late...

Sigh ... I have also been thinking about it ... not sure what is keeping me back (except for the cost of course)

I''m sure it has to do with the fact that you probably see really well with your corrective lenses. Once you have surgery, you can only hope the outcome is as good as they tell you it will be. Also, unlike other elective surgeries, these are your eyes...your only set

Those are where my fears lie anyway...

I am sorry I missed this thread. I would have wished you luck. But it seems you didn''t need it. I am happy for you - and jealous too. I would love to get it done. Take care of yourself. Again, I am sooo jealous...

Thanks Chiapet, PJean, Marcy, Irishgrrl, Geckodani, and Steel!

Laineybugger, good luck with your sinus surgery! I hope it goes well!

Geckodani, I had the same fear about focusing. They did reassure me that the laser detects tiny shifts in movement and tracks it, and if there is a big shift, like your head moving or what not, it''ll automatically stop. And when I was there, I was too terrified and nervous to NOT focus on the light

Bia, up until I was actually on the table, I was constantly on the verge of chickening out. Probably the reason I had it done was because they had an opening the day after my consultation, I took it, and bam, LASIK done. I''m not impulsive at all....

Rob, the cost was a big factor. It''s so expensive, and I didn''t want to skimp! The total cost I was quoted, before promotions, was $4200 for both eyes. I was definitely afraid that I wouldn''t see as well, but I was reassured by the fact that this is an established procedure, and for every "bad" experience I hear about, there are hundreds of good ones.
