Let it all hangout -- The Grumpies, whinies, complainies Get It Off Your Chest Thread....

Guess I'm posting here for a spell. As lots of us have heard there is a formula shortage going on. And I absolutely understand how terrifying that would be for moms right now because we had to use formula in our house. I have no idea what I would do in their place.

But it's not just the formula moms having issues. My kid has sensory stuff and thus half of her calories are from the vanilla fiber pediasure shakes. They have been out of stock for us for a month now. We were lucky enough to find some of the regular vanilla, which she drinks but they cause her bad GI issues. She's lactose intolerant like my husband and I are so she gets badly constipated just from one of those a day. I tried switching brands to others that are vanilla with fiber but she won't even touch them because I guess they don't taste the same. I bought some fiber powder thinking I might try putting a spoonful in her shake but it says it's for 12 and up. She's only 4. So now I don't feel comfortable doing that either. I just need these companies to get their s*t together and get manufacturing again so my child doesn't have to suffer so much.

I'm stressed out for myself because we found multiple nodules on my thyroid. So far they aren't large enough to say yes we should biopsy. But I wouldn't entirely be surprised if they did. My mother had to have surgery on hers because of issues. So far now I am just spending 400 a pop every 6 months for ultrasounds. Which we can't really afford btw. We had to evict mice from our attic this year for 6k and we are still trying to pay that down and this isn't helping at all. Feels like every time we make some progress something else pops up to be like Lulz. You thought you were going to pay the CC back down and be able to be back to normal people usage this year? Nooooope.

And remember the kid with sensory issues? She goes to speech and occupational therapy every week. The speech office are angels and take our health insurance plus our CHAMPVA. So it's essentially free. We just have to endure the screaming fits during bathtime afterwards.

But the occupational not so much. They refuse to take CHAMPVA so it's 50 or 60 a pop every week. And this kid refuses to potty train so she already costs 400ish a month just passively existing between diapers and wipes and shakes. And we get bulk non brand name items other than the pediasure so it's not like we are being snobs and refusing to use non brand names either.

And on top of that. TW: Pet death for a few paragraphs. No graphic descriptions of course but just in case.Since I know some don't want to hear about it at all.

I've lost 4 pets over the last few years. 2 a couple of years back. I had to leave them behind when I got married because we thought it would be better for my babies to stay where they were accustomed to living and not get dragged around moving since my husband was DoD. One barely made it a year after I left. He was a little older, 14. But my baby. A second passed not long after. He was her favourite so it was less of a surprise that she didnt want to be without him. I don't think she was more than 10.

My boy my husband and I adopted a couple of years ago passed from heart issues that nobody caught bc of COVID keeping people and pets home who weren't emergency cases a year or less ago. He was 4. And now I find out another of the original 4 cats has gone. Cancer this time. There's only one of my babies left there. And it makes me so sad because I was never even able to come see them. I'm afraid I won't be able to come home and see the last one either. I'm hoping she makes it long enough for me to see her. They had adopted a stray kitten they found and she had seemed to take well to her. So I'm hoping that helps her be less depressed over it. But I dunno. I'm really sad over it.

Pet discussions done.

So yeah im just so tired and stressed out :( I realise I absolutely need to be going to therapy but I had to stop going even before COVID. With the wait lists I don't think I could be seen any time soon even if we could afford for me to go. So I'm just hiding in other peoples jewellery trying to distract myself these days.

Group hug is in order

Thank you for asking..It’s still really swollen @Daisys and Diamonds. I’m still wearing my grandma’s ring..size 9. My normal ring size is 6.25-6.50.. In fact I can’t even easily take it off now. It’s staying on until it becomes loose and I can take it off easily. It’s also humid and warm here now which is probably making it worse. :(2
@MamaBee how is your finger doing?

Well that's not good
but thank goodness for grandma

We just had a hot summer and a long warm Autumn but when it finally got cooler my fingers and feet seemed to shrink back to normal overnight

Is your finger still sore ?
Do you think it needs physio ?

@MeowMeow,
I don't know what the regular price for the shakes are but I see them available on Walmart.com for shipping or delivery.

Oh thank you! Every time I've looked at Walmart these past weeks they've been gone. It's 12 dollars more expensive than Sam's club for the same amount but it's worth the price for her to be able to get her drinks.

Thank you Daisy. You're always so kind <3

Man I miss the preview post function. Hopefully things won't double quote?

Thanks @Daisys and Diamonds..The swelling is starting to go down. It’s less red…but still hurts. I have a size 8 skinny band on now. I’m hopeful it will continue to heal quickly. It would be awful to have my new setting and not be able to wear it.

My mother used to wear Isotoner Spandex gloves to reduce swelling in her arthritic hands.
Is something like this an option for you?

Thank you @pearlsngems. I think that would have worked if I wrapped it as soon as it happened. It’s healing now so I’m afraid to try anything..lol This is the first time I’m hoping my ring will be ready a little later..

@MamaBee,

I have one more suggestion, but read up on it yourself first and see if you are comfortable with it.

It's DMSO (Dimethyl sulfoxide). I always keep this on hand-- it has saved me on various occasions after getting scalds and burns in the kitchen, preventing the formation of blisters and alleviating pain. DMSO increases the permeability of cell membranes, thus removing fluid (and thus dissipating heat rapidly, which is how it helps with burns.)

If you use it, it's very important to have clean skin with no lotions or any other substance on your skin, because DMSO will carry that substance into your bloodstream. Leave it on for 20 minutes to a half hour, being careful not to touch other things. Then wash it off with plain warm water.

DMSO is used in veterinary care primarily, but also to treat interstitial cystitis in humans (by prescription.) The state of Oregon holds the patent on it! You can get OTC jars of 70% gel. Health food type stores and alternative medicine-oriented stores tend to carry it.

Being let down by a company that could not delivery an order of promotional pens that I placed at the beginning of May 2022 for a charity event this Sunday.

Worse still is that, had I known for certain they could not deliver, I could have placed a rush order with another company for them to be delivered in time, and cheaper too!

Live and learn, and I shan't go back to them again due to their lack of communications and poor customer services - I had to chase repeatedly in order to get anywhere, and they did not come back to me when they said they would. No order monitoring or tracking for any delays, and blamed it on their supplier for their lack of communications of the hold up.

Hey ho!

DK :x2:roll2:

Welp, the back wheel decided to shear off all but one bolt on the way home from school drop-off. I'm just thankful it held enough to get home and there was no one else in the car. Terrifying!

I'm glad you're okay! Car trouble is the absolute worst!

My finger is still swollen. The redness is gone. I was able to slide Emmy on with Windex. I’ve been sleeping with it on because I don’t want to hurt it again. There was no way I could put a band on first which is what I usually do. She’s a size 7. The new ring is 6.75. I just had a size 6.25 ring on last week. That’s the one I had trouble getting off..I may have done permanent damage to my finger. One of the thoughts about putting Emmy on was that I would be able to gauge how much the swelling would have to go down before I could wear the new setting in a size 6.75. The other thought was that it would adjust to not having a ring on and go up a size. When you wear rings every day they sometimes dent the finger. I wanted to keep the dent. I never have to worry about losing my rings that way. Haha Emmy swivels on my finger once it’s in place..but it looks like there’s no way to get the new setting on at this point. I normally have a little puffy thing under my ring finger but not like this..I also have muffin finger which I never have with a size 7..I hope it shrinks back..Ugh

Ugh, sorry @MamBee, so frustrating! Although maybe one piece of slightly good news is the swelling has gone down? I know that's probably small comfort right now. Do you know when you're getting your ring? This is one instance where it might be a good thing if it's delayed, gives your finger more time to heal.

I'm wondering if icing several times during the day might help, and taking Advil... it's an anti-inflammatory. And I think compression can help too, maybe you could wrap a bandage around your finger.

Thanks @junebug17..I’m actually considering asking David to size up to 7. Emmy is a 7. I decided not to resize Emmy..If I stack Emmy with a slightly wider band it pushes her up to a larger part of my finger. I’m afraid that would work for Winter’s setting..but it would probably fall off when it gets cold in the winter. Maybe this will give me incentive to lose weight..

You know, I was going to suggest you have it sized to fit your finger as it is now! I know it's not a perfect solution but you could wear the sizing noodles when the swelling eventually goes down. Maybe have it resized when your finger is back to normal, or hopefully a band will keep it in place. At least you'd be able to wear and enjoy the ring now.

Thank you @junebug17…You're right…I just contacted David to see if he can size it to a 7. I’m sure he’s not in now but hopefully he can do that without a problem. Maybe I’ll be able to stack more bands this way..

Good luck with the ongoing finger healing @MamaBee

Thank you @Daisys and Diamonds.. I feel less panicked now because @junebug17 made a great suggestion to just have David Klass size it up for me. It just makes sense since I’ve been tugging rings on that poor finger for years..It needs a break..not literally.. David answered me back to say it’s an easy ring to size so it’s not a problem. If my finger ever goes back down I can stack more bands with it at that point.

Sounds like a good idea @MamaBee! It will be nice for you to be able to wear your ring when you get it. My only slight concern is that it might be too big if your finger goes back down? There's a decent change it eventually will, will you be ok with having the larger ring if that happens?

@junebug17 My three stone emerald cut is also a size seven. It’s a little big but since my fingers swell up in the heat it’s fine right now. I’ll probably wait until Winter to see how they fit. I’ll either get those silicone huggies for both rings..or get little sizing beads added. I would trust a local jeweler to do that instead of getting them resized. I’m not mailing my rings to California even though I trust David. I don’t trust the mail system.

Bummer. I was hoping you'd mail it to me!!! :saint: :P2 :wavey:

Oh ok @MamaBee, yes, that sounds good - I was thinking you'd have to send it back to David, which would be a hassle and stressful, but if you have a local jeweler you can use that works out great!
