@Slickk did your surgeon happen to mention how often this type of event occurs?

@RMOO He did not, but he sounded surprised, but then not because it was me.

@Austina thank you! ❤️ I certainly do not need anymore problems in that area!! :(

@chrono thank you and yes, I’m sure glad that ‘spoiler’ worked. @missy taught me a long time ago.

So upset. I piece of bone graft (?) pushed its way out of my 2 year old dental implant. A bone shard (~5mm long) of bone coming out of my gum is not good. Back to the oral surgeon again today. Not happy!! :wall:

@Lookinagain thank you. Surgeon said everything is in place so…when asked if this is normal, he said, “Normal for you!”

This is so wild! Glad it was removed, and hopefully it stays a non-event. I confess that I had a wee giggle at "Normal for you!"

My husband just retired 3 weeks ago, and we are already having to make changes in our retirement budget to reflect higher bills from the town.
First our car property tax bill increased because our cars are worth more this year than last year, thanks to inflation.
Now the flat rate we pay for the use of city sewers has increased by 10%.

My son’s first week of daycare is over. He doesn’t like it. He likes to be held ALL the time, which she can’t do because she has other kids and one more infant. Apparently he spends a good portion of the day crying to be held and entertained. I’m not sure if this is just him getting used to not being with me one on one (and with my husband when he’s not working) 24/7 or if he’s just a high needs baby. I regret not taking additional time off…

@Daisys and Diamonds I thought of you when I saw this. (my goodness!)

Sticker shock.

That’s what some fans are experiencing who purchased, or tried to purchase, tickets for the six Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band 2023 U.S. arena tour concerts that went on sale the morning of Wednesday, July 20.

The price of some floor seats rose to more than $4,000 due to the Ticketmaster dynamic pricing system, which adjusts the price in real time due to demand.

If its any consolation they come out through the other side of that one, children are very resilient and they adapt easier than adults. He'll surprise you with how well he overcomes it, it'll just take him a little while to go through the change.

I have one at home that just wants to be held all the time too. Eventually I'm sure I'll force him into preeschool just because it'll make him more self reliant.

I don’t know if it’s a coincidence but today he was perfectly fine chilling by himself. My husband watched him while I worked and apparently he just fell asleep a couple of times on his play mat. I’m not sure if daycare is helping him be a little more independent or if he was feeling like being laid back today. Time will tell…

Lol they change so fast. I was really overwhelmed when my first was born. She barely slept, and insisted on being held 24/7. She had a piercing wail you could not ignore. When I went back to work I hired a nanny who sat in the chair holding her all day long. When the nany left I would sit in the chair for 6-8 hours straight feeding her until she fell asleep (which would last for 4 hours; allowing me to sleep for 3 hours). Things were a mess for a while. She's a bit older now and things are better.

My mother's advice was I should just chill. As whatever this weeks problems were, in 2 weeks time they would have vanished/resolved all by themselves, and I would have forgotten them. Instead I would have an entirely new and different set of problems (none of which existed 2 weeks earlier). She was spot on the money. I also find I now have selective amnesia about raising my daughter, I've written over the hard bits and only remember the good parts

I am so pleased he is happier today though, you are doing such a good job, don't stress about any of it.

Time for new doctors. This clinic has policies I can't put up with anymore. Had to take DH to urgent care. Deep cut from electric hedge trimmer and signs of shock. They aren't allowing anyone but the patient in the exam room. Because COVID. I say that is cr*p. If they were actually concerned, the staff wouldn't all be sitting around behind the check in desk (fully exposed to waiting room) laughing and chatting away without masks. (Which are mandatory in medical settings here... ) Trying to isolate patients from their support people and those who will need to know care instructions after is a load of BS.

ETA: Custodial staff hanging out with no masks either and one of them has a runny nose she is wiping on her freaking PALM and not even bothering to wash/sanitize.

I’m so sorry @Slickk! That’s so awful!! I hope you’re pain free now..

HI:

I love gum. But what happened to good quality product? Doesn't matter which brand I get it is gross after 5 minutes of chewing. Like chewing plastic.

cheers--Sharon

We live across the street from a lake and there are mosquitoes everywhere! I went out today to take pics for a few minutes and now I’m so dang itchy! A pest control company makes rounds every year but they said there isn’t much they can do. They can spray to reduce the amount of mosquitoes but we’ll always have mosquitoes.

'Bout sick of these rolling blackouts. We've never had this before. It's too hot and there are too many people up here on vacation drawing on the system or running into poles.

It's too hot

Our entire week will be triple digits, starting at 102 Monday and increasing a degree per day. This is unfortunately going to be our new normal due to climate change. Oregon used to get a lot of rain and now we're doing daily rain dances and the only moisture we get is from perspiration :D

I couldn't even do that kind of heat. It's only in the mid nineties here.
I'm too northern and my boobs are too big for this sh*t.
I mean I'll jiggle a bit but I don't think it's having the effect we want
It just came back on again, the second I finished that last post power went down. That's four times in two days.
I cannot understand how anyone questions what's happening or that it's accelerating much faster than they estimated. I don't want to sound alarmist but this is likely the beginning of our extinction event. They thought we might have until 2050. They were wrong.

Oh there's no doubt about it. Greenland is melting at a rate of 6 billion tons a day, exceeding predictions. Low lying areas are toast. Bees & butterflies dying -- our two most important pollinators, fisheries collapsing. It's a mess too late to fix. At best we still have time to figure out how to live with food and water shortages but it's not going to be easy. Now I'm really depressed and we're heading out for dinner which I think will be liquid and 90 proof this evening. I can't chew when I'm depressed

Skol @Matata ! Have a tipple for me.

Or if you go a bit longer if crumbles off into sticky bits!

My braces are killing me. I have to use big gobs of wax on the front bottom braces because they rip the inside of my lip. They bleed if I don’t. I’m too old for this.

It will get better. And the end result will make you happy.

I had them from 27 to 30 yrs old. It was worse to have as an adult but I'm soooo glad I did it. Hang in there!

Thank you @PreRaphaelite..The orthodontist said I would have them on for a year…Of course, a bracket broke so the time went back five weeks. I didn’t even eat anything that would break it. She said my tooth turned and broke it. I feel like I’m in a teenage comedy!

I'm so disgusted with "DM for price".....

"The price is a SECRET!
This piece is so special, we couldn't possibly just come out and ANNOUNCE it to the world!
Then everybody would KNOW what we are selling it for!
Or maybe we want to give inflated prices to certain people, you know, to see if they bite?
You must grovel and beg us to tell you!"

Gaaah!
Am I the only one who finds this off-putting?

The past couple of weeks had been stressful workwise involving the need to work a lot more hours (I am an independent consultant).

As such, I am planning to treat myself to a few pieces of bling to compensate the lack of opportunities to go out and about to enjoy myself socially.

Extra gainful employment is much appreciated so I am not moaning/complaining about it. Just wish it had not been so crazy in the past couple of weeks!

It looks like next 3 months will also be very busy, until one of my existing contract is terminated at the end of October 2022. All good as it means more spare pennies for blings! :lol-2:

Lastly, the air con inside the house has packed up suddenly, and I suspect a component if not the entire system, may need to be replaced. It was installed back in 2006 when I moved into the house, and it had served me well.

Good job for all the extra hours I worked/still to work, as it means I can afford to replace whatever that is needed to be replaced without delay.

Also a good job that I have air con installed as a "Must Have" on my custom-converted RV, as it means I can sleep and work in it if it gets too hot inside the house, bliss!

All in all, life is good.

DK :))

@stracci2000, absolutely hate DM for price, I don’t care what the seller’s reasoning is, it is a terrible business practice.

Re "DM for price," I find it so annoying that I rarely if ever do it but just keep scrolling instead. I guess they have their reasons but they are probably losing out on a lot of potential business that way too.

I totally agree with you. I won't do it. I just scroll by. And there have been some items I was very interested in. But I'm not playing that game. If I went into a store and nothing had a price tag but only something saying "ask a sales associate for the price" I wouldn't do that either. I'd walk out.

I hate it.
It's a huge turnoff and whether fair or not, I automatically think they're trying to inflate the price/pull one over. Time waster.
If you're selling, post the price. It saves time.
