Let's play a game... rainbow gems.

@AudreyC you sure know how to find the best cabochons! I was out of action and missed the first zillion trips thru the rainbow, that explains why I'm still in the game. What's your excuse? =)2

Green emerald.

@prs, i just love rainbows! As you can see, I haven’t posted much on Pricescope. Still getting to know the place and this seemed like a friendly, fun thread to follow.

Hi @AudreyC your posts are very, very welcome but you are a bit of a mystery to me. =)2

You used the terms "candy" and "boiled sweet" in the same sentence. Americans use the term "candy" and the whole English speaking world is well aware of the term, but you'd have to be brought up in the British Commonwealth to know what a boiled sweet is. One of my Mum's favorites because they lasted longest! :mrgreen2:

Maybe the best cabochons are found where they boil all the sweets. :lol-2:

We should be at blue now, right? This should count:

(A small Australian opal gifted to me by a friend in Australia. It travelled half way across the world to reach me <3.)

C’mon, who’s next? I wanna look at more bling!

@AudreyC That ruby cab necklace is so yummy!! I love that it is bold enough to make a statement too. The yellow diamonds were a clever accent. I didn't know that rubellite cab you shared earlier was 30ct.? Wow! And I'm so happy you're enjoying our little (big) thread! I wanted it to be a welcoming place to post, and you guys have just bought it to life...

@prs Ok, where do I find a man as interested in my jewel obsession as you are with your beautiful wife? It is just the coolest. That golden pearl and diamond (bow!) necklace is positively divine. :kiss2:

@OneKuhlChic I saw your tourm and I think the color is really special! With that intense saturation sometimes comes less clarity. But it's lovely for sure!!

@Avondale Your opal pendant is my favorite kind of piece - a special stone with sentimental value. How thoughtful of your friend!

INDIGO or PURPLE is next! @mustangchi Now's your chance!! :P2

Im always a little confused when its any colour but green :lol-2:
But for @AudreyC and @prs here is the rainbow of boiled lollies (that's what we call sweets/ candy) that Air New Zealand pass around as they start the preparations to land, i post in slightly worried celebration of our boarders reopening fully in July

(You are all welcome just please dont bring your gerns in - most people i know havn't even had so much as a cold for over 2 1/2 years )

The cabin crew usually get small children to pass around the lollies - its a very important job

Yummy! New Zealand is on my list @Daisys and Diamonds.

New Zealand was on our list too, but I'm not so sure now we've found out how weird they all are.

Everybody knows a lolly should be frozen and on a stick!

Thats an ice block :lol-2: (mum's generation called that a quencher but that's uncommon nowdays)
i have some in the freezer left over from the hotter weather
Now i feel like one

Note the rainbow colours
(I deserve extra points for that :appl: :appl: )

@mustangchi Well it was worth the wait! That is THE perfect shade of lavender spinel, IMO. I am looking for one myself, and wanting the color to lean slightly more blue than purple (sort of like a periwinkle, which yours seems to be). How is the clarity? I actually spoke with Jeff a few weeks back, and he has one rough piece in this color (large enough to break the 2ct. mark), but it's included. So I chickened out. Please feel free to share the entire ring next time! :mrgreen2:

@Daisys and Diamonds I could listen to you all day! I learned from Peppa Pig that popsicles (here) are called ice lollies by Brits. hee hee Now I've learned all about boiled sweets in NZ! :lickout: I heard it's magnificently beautiful there, and the people are (obviously) awesome.

Its nice here, but Bruce Springsteen lives in NJ

So while im waking for the rest of the world to log on ....
A pretty sad story about neighbours with no fun in their hearts
Makes me glad i live in an old suburb in a town where people still paint their houses, roofs, fences and letterbox different colours 1652323629594.jpg

Yes, @prs I think it is good for women to be mysterious! I live in a Commonwealth country. I completed my graduate studies in the US. One of my best friends is from Santa Monica, and my sister lives in Massachusetts. So I have to be fair to both sides I am glad the mention of boiled sweets has set off such an energetic discussion!
As to where the best cabochons are found, isn’t it interesting that many of the Commonwealth countries have spectacular gems - Burma, India, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Pakistan, South Africa, and so on.

Thank you @Autumn in New England for coming up with this game. I have just the book to share with everyone on this thread.A82BE302-3819-4934-BA7C-04CB8AA35AE9.jpeg

@AudreyC Pink akoyas are so rare! And to make an entire strand is surely a labor of love. It's gorgeous... and I love how you chose a pink pusheen as your model.

@Daisys and Diamonds Oh how awful! They literally stripped those folks of their "colors" - their individuality. I'm glad it was resolved in the end, at least. You know, as a side note, I've always felt I was orange. Anyone else feel like a particular color?

Up next: RRRED!

This red gem was found in the molten lava from a volcano.

10.18ct Zincite Ring 12A.jpg

Not quite so glamorous as the molten lava, the zincite was actually found in the chimney of a Polish zinc smelter! :lol-2:

DW's OEC is picking up enough red to be allowed into the photo as a bonus. :mrgreen2:

Up nect orange
although i say green is my favourite colour, orange is a close runner up
when i was in primmer 4 (probably called year 2 or 3 today) we built Earnest Shackleton's ship Endurence out of paper machete in the back of the class room
To this day i am still interested in Shackleton and i still love orange
I had painted my cabin orange (it was 1978 (that's a very important year if you are a Bruce Springsteen fan)
Orange was everywhere in the 70s, we had an orange shower curtain, i had an orange toy box, the table was orange in my play house, mum and dad had an orange bedspread and my barbies (who had platform shoes) had orange dresses - not the hidouse pink that seems to have only become worse since my sister's barbies (5 years between us)
I had no pink clothes, but ive always had at least one orange piece in my wardrobe to this day (a winter coat in pumpkin)
With love and kindness in my heart so pink gemstones are exempt - i am the war on pink
Im kinda surprised we arnt painting the house orange ? (its going to be a very bright yellow)

Thanks @Autumn in New England, I have a friend who gives me Pusheens. The pearl necklace was chosen and bought by my father - a man of taste:kiss2:
@Daisys and Diamonds your affection for orange is palpable. Alas, I have more red and pink gems than orange ones so i shall wait patiently for the ORANGE post.

What a fabulous ring and the stone is gorgeous, I love it!!

Is this an Indicolite blue-green tourmaline? I had to ask because it's my new favorite gemstone color!!!

I just bought an Indicolite blue-green tourmaline with inclusions.

So now I'm on the hunt for a better one!!
1652202375251.jpeg

Thank you! It’s a blue tourmaline and described to be neon when I bought it. It isn’t actually neon but does have some neon flashes maybe. It’s one of my favs too. A bit more details here:

Good luck with your hunt!

I have just the book to share with everyone on this thread.

...and I have just the watch! Actually, I don't "have it" have it. I know it looks super-expensive but it's under half-a-million so there's that. And it's all sapphires. Looks like meteorite sub-dials so they are cutting corners there...

Screen Shot 2022-05-13 at 8.33.37 PM.png

I usually do not love gem rainbows but this one seems to work. Maybe it helps that there is no red (at 12:00)? I guess no one could find any red sapphires.

There is a bit of a color gap at 7:30 that is starting to bug me so I may need to "restring" it. :lol-2:
