Was this dress ever identified? I have to know who designed it and where I can see a picture of the front!!!

Deborah

Its Justina McCaffrey Magnificat. She has a few pick up dresses and this one is the grand momma of them all. The other ones are Alexia II (the best selling dress htis year I heard, which is the one MS posted), Jubilate, and Christina.

Oh wow! That is just to die for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

msflutter - That dress is really pretty. Go for it!

Ginger - Thanks! I knew something didn''t seem right about that dress being Alexia.. the trains too long I guess. :) I had forgotten all about Magnificat

NJC,

congratulations on your recent nuptuals...I will need to look to see if you posted pics!

how is married life treating you?

no problem! since i had tried on alexia and comtemplating it, i had files of all the JM pickup dresses to drool over and figure out which one i liked best!! they really are luscious, i think she makes some of the best pickup dresses out there --> the pickups fall very naturally.

someone was lookign for the front of this Oragami dress. I just stumbled across it :). Its a Romona Keveza.. if anyone was wondering.

oops didnt'' work. trying again! Oragami dress!

This thread is so great, any new dresses to add?

ha ha!
Angel, you got me so excited---I was hoping that someone had posted a new lovely. I especially LOVE pictures of real brides in their dresses. I think that I will explode before my dress arrives in December. I need a fix of someone else in their dress to help me survive the waiting.

I know, I love looking at everyone in their beautiful gowns. There have been so many new purchases and weddings recently so I was hoping people would post!!

BUUUUMP for all the ladies who have recently gotten their dresses!!! C''mon girls, let''s see ''em!!

Hi! Here is my Alexa Claire gown. (please remember this dress is not my size, it was the try-on, you may be able to see it being held on!)

misty- Your dress is GORGEOUS. A princess gown!

Misty - LOVELY dress!! I love the beading on the bodice - very princessy as MS said!!

Ladies.... I think I''ve done a complete 180 on the dress thing... The Lazaro w/ multi-colored embroidery on the bodice is out... I still love the dress & the look... but I was having trouble deciding on a color scheme (which the dress actually made a little difficult b/c of so many colors present in the bodice) and then the more I thought about our venue being very organic & natural (glass chapel in the woods)... the more I felt like the dress was too busy & didn''t really fit with the feel that I''m going for. Plus, the more I think about it - I just CANNOT justify spending $2500 or more on a dress, really that''s just ridiculous for me considering I''m 31 and living on student loans - it would be terribly irresponsible & a very poor financial decision. So, back to the drawing board!! My biggest problem is that I have barely lost any of the weight that I wanted to lose and I feel like a cow - I have absolutely ZERO desire to try on gowns right now... and only a little over 7 months until the wedding!!! ACK!!! So time to step up the exercise and quit eating what my FI eats!!! And, I''ve really been taking a look at the clothes in my closet and considering what kinds of features are most flattering on me & have translated that into some internet browsing & have found a few dresses that I like that are much more affordable (at least compared to Lazaro and others) and that I think have features that will be more flattering to my body type. Anyhow, I will post some pics soon, just had to update & vent for a minute!

teebee- Show us! Show us!

Misty, that''s gorgeous!!! I love all the sparkles! Definitely a dress fit for a princess.

And yes, Teebee, show us!!!!!!

Okay - this is a Maggie. So, I haven''t been a huge Maggie fan... Not that I don''t like her dresses, but it seemed that the ones I kept seeing all looked very similar to each other & just weren''t "me" - but I have seen several Maggies here on PS that I really like (especially Tybee - Ophelia is beautiful) & that prompted me to be more thorough & give Maggie gowns a 2nd look.

This is "Jamie":

I so wish I could post the big huge detailed pics from bridesave.com, but this is the best I can find.

So, the Pros: LOVE the neckline, lace scalloping along the neckline & the wide-set spaghetti straps - I look best in v-necks & some sweetheart necklines rather than straight across the chest. I also look best in wide set straps rather than straps that come up more in the middle. Love that it''s an a-line - not to slim, not too full. Love the lace... simplicity... love it.

Cons: Not sure how bigger boobs will look in this dress & it''s not available in ivory. Plus, the scalloping along the bottom hem will make alterations difficult I imagine. I can''t find a discernable waistline from which to hem rather than the bottom of the dress. Also, it has a zippered back closure - much less forgiving & makes alterations more critical than in the corset style back closures. And, if I don''t lose as much weight as I''d like - a distinct possibility at this point - then I think this dress will show it all much more than some other styles...

Bedtime - I think I''m going to start a new thread w/ my location, BM dresses, etc., along with these new dresses & get some opinions rather than hogging this thread for a while. Tomorrow...

teebee- OH MY GOSH- That dress is GORGEOUS. How have I never seen it before? WOW! GET IT! hehe.. Or, at least try it on!
I am currently hunting it out on bridesave and I''ll do a screen shot of it when I find it so I can show the big pics for you! I wouldn''t sweat it not coming in Ivory. It comes in Diamond white, which is a soft white, just not quite as yellowy as Ivory.. and also diamond white over light gold, which I would imagine would give the basic effect of ivory.

Also, it reminds me of this casablanca dress that I REALLY love. It is the only dress that would make me ever consider getting a poofy dress.

Which is this one

Ugh.. bridesave and my computer are teaming up to give me issues.. I will work on getting screen captures of the maggie dress.

Thanks for the compliments!

I think I got a nice deal on my dress. It is from Alexa Claire - I got it for $423 from a local bridal shop. The dress line is fairly new. They have a good style variety and a nice range of sizes. www.alexaclaire.com

My cousin got her dress on BrideSave.com and saved over 50% and lucky enough not to need alterations. Mary's and Maggie dresses are fairly priced as well form my looking around.

Oh Teebee,
I''ve never seen that Maggie before! It is really lovely. There''s only one way for you to know...go out there and TRY IT ON!
I bet that they will be able to answer your questions at the bridal shop. I love the elegant shape of it, and the fact that it''s not too poofy.
You''re pretty on top of things to think about alterations etc....I was a bit hasty and just BOUGHT mine.
I really hope (for my own selfish sake) that whereever you go to try it let''s you take pictures. I''m getting a little irked with these selfish shops that don''t allow pics!

Not long til our wedding so I can''t show a picture as my FI may go looking. Will show you after we get back from honeymoon in Venice.

Mine''s by a UK designer (Beverly Lister) but looks a bit like a Monique L''Huillier / Amsale dress as it has a slight sweetheart neckline, lace at the top and a sash tied at the front.

The great thing about it is that they made it to what my measurements were back in May, so the fact that I have lost no weight whatsoever means that I missed out on the pricy alterations!!

misty,

Your wedding gown is beautiful! So sparkly & princess-like! Perfect! And what a deal!

teebee,

That Maggie gown is stunning! You must try it on & post pics! I don''t remember seeing that gown when I was shopping... I think you have a good sense about what you like/don''t like in gowns. Do start a new thread for your wedding!

MelissaSue, gown expert extrordinairre, the gown you posted is to die for! (as is the gown you chose) This is such fun!

Tybee, you''re going to love your Ophelia! When you know, you know. I don''t understand why bridal shops don''t let you take pictures either. Most of these gowns have images online if you really wanted to have a seamstress knock them off for you. Personally, as you all know, I kept a file of pictures of me in bridal gowns. I really forgot about the gowns I wasn''t allowed to photograph. So I don''t think it''s in these shops'' best interest to not allow photographs. Very irking!

Okay.. I finally got to screen capturing some pics of Teebees dress. I really Adore it. My screen captures are a little crappy as I had to cut and paste parts of the pics together since bridesave makes it that way on purpose so you can''t steal their pictures.

Here is the front..

Mistylark--your dress is beautiful! Can''t wait to see the finished look! Very princess-y!

Teebee--that Maggie is gorgeous! The back is so SEXY and the beading is stunning.

Tybee. That lace overlay on the maggie is simply stunning! If i had the back, i would certainly consider it!

MS- Thanks for the props on the dress. It is very popular in bridal magazines everywhere so I began to second guess, but it looks great on me, and I love it my mother LOVES it, so even though I havent purchased it yet (cant buy the dress without the ring, right?), i guess that will be the one.
