thanks!

yes getting pretty excited. I''m not as nervous as I thought i would be.. I just love your dress, you look so pretty in it. Your having a garden wedding? That sounds so cool. Do you have a location?

O and MS, where on earth are you going to loose weight? You look perfect! Are you going to wear you veil the whole night?

MINE! - Wow! That is one gorgeous dress! The sleeves and simple embroidery - it's ethereal! You'll look like an angel!
12.gif

HMG - I'm envisioning a simple white floral wreath with white tulle (lace???) flowing down over your back..... I've never been to a morning wedding, but they sound so nice. There was a couple here a few years ago who got married at 6am. Their wedding cake was made of pancakes, and the BMs wore bedroom slippers under their gowns. Needless to say, it made headlines. And thank you! It's great being a Mrs!! My sister and SIL are wonderful photographers.

Rube - I forgot to say that you look great in your "big white dress"! It's actually quite simple and elegant. You can definitely go without the petticoat for the reception. I didn't wear one at all. Just make sure it won't drag on the floor without the pouf - you don't want your husband to trip on your hem during your first dance or something.

DL23 - Was that where you had your wedding? It's beautiful! You look so happy and radiant! At first I really wanted a completely plain dress - NO sequins or beads or embroidery - but it didn't work out that way.

Yay Rockchick!!!!! Congratulations on the upcoming end of your engagement!

hi,

i am new to pricescope and have just been looking through all of your amazing dresses!!! i really like MelissaSue's and reena's dresses... and - of course - the jenny lee posted by yanekie 25. i kind of feel that there are so much more choices in the states than in germany (where i am from and getting married). in germany, 'pick up' dresses are very popular right now - similar to the ones posted by psuheather and ivaniadiamond.

i am not sure what it is like in the u.s.... in germany, if you want a ceremony in the church, you have to have two ceremonies (one being sort of the "civil" ceremony - i. e. mandatory, less romantic, basic, usually just a dark-suit-and-garden-wedding-dress-thing and the religious ceremony - optional, but if you chose to do it - the BIG thing).

so my dress for the civil ceremony is this watters... (so the german girl got a hold of an american wedding dress). i like it a lot since it has a certain retro-feel to it that i find very charming. i cannot believe i got a chance to buy this... i had seen it in a knottie-bio and just by chance found it on the british ebay webpage... it is to arrive next week... i am really excited.

...and these are close to what i will be wearing for the ceremony in church, reception, etc.... still not very "formal", but i just like simple sheath-dresses... the simplicity is somewhat softened by the organza-overlay, a little train and the yummy soft ivory color...

i think the ones pictured are by justina mccaffrey (sorry in case i misspelled the designer's name). mine is from "la sposa" and unfortunately, i don't have a picture of it yet. am looking much happier than the models in my dress, though!

my fitting is on monday, by the way.

i have yet to decide what to do with my hair and whether or not to wear a veil... i assume wearing a veil would make the overall impression more "bridal"... but as i want to wear phalaenopsis orchids in my hair, i don't know how this would work with a veil... maybe i'll find some inspiration here.

regards,
cashmere

...and these are the shoes that i will be wearing with my la sposa dress...

in case anyone has some ideas on how to wear my hair or veil-or-not-veil for my la sposa dress, please let me know.

thanks,
cashmere

hi everyone, im new here and have been following this board for a while and i just goota say that all the dresses on here are just gorgeous! i wish i had the figure to fit into most of them lol

anyway i thought i would post a pic of the style of dress im having though it will be in silver instead of white and i will be having a mantilla with it - i love it so much - and love my aunt even more for making it for me - i cant believe i actually get to wear it in 19 days :D

anyways have fun :D

kaschmir - Both of the dresses you chose are absolutely gorgeous. The watters dress was on my first list of dresses I loved.. I''t''s so pretty and girly!

nell- what a gorgeous dress! Your aunt must be so talented to make it for you! You''ll have to show us wedding pics after the weddign!

Kash- I tried the Watters and Watters gown on, it is very pretty!!! I ended up w/ a ballgown however- I went from one end of the spectrum to the other!!! Both your gown choices are lovely!

kaschmir,
I love your dress choices. I totally wish I could have pulled off a style like that, but no way for me...

.

nell, that is amazing that your aunt will make your dress for you, especially one as intricate as that. My dad is a custom tailor and did my alterations for me, and has the most talented hand of anyone I''ve ever known, but there is no way I could have convinced him to make me an entire dress. I can''t wait to see pics of yours!

Welcome, Kaschmir and Nell! Kasch, I love both of your dress choices...very elegant and classy, and I really love the lace of the Watters one!! And Nell, what a beautiful gown!!! I''m so jealous that you have an aunt that sews like that! That''s awesome. :)

JCJD, I hadn''t thought about a floral wreath for my hair yet...I think that would be pretty!!!

Thank you Flopkins! I can''t wait to see it when it fits either...I''m getting anxious to get it altered so I can see what it looks like, but there''s NO reason to do it now, as I still have about 22 months! hehe. Hopefully as the date gets closer the dress will need to be altered down even smaller!! I''d LOVE to get that last 15 pounds off before the wedding.

RockChick, we don''t have a location yet. There are several up for consideration...my parents'' backyard, a place called the Tyler Woman''s Building in nearby Tyler, TX, a pretty little bed and breakfast place in an old historic home called the Lott House....I just don''t know! :) I think we need to get the guest list figured out to see how many guests we''re wanting to accomodate to help make the decision.

Oh wow, ditto what HOUMedGal said, especially about Nell''s aunt!
Now that I''ve bought my dress, I wish that I could wear two! Because I CAN"T stop looking!

JCJD,
I love the idea of a floral wreath, I don''t know why I didn''t think about that. I don''t think I''ll be wearing a veil, and look pretty terrible with my hair up (Italian girl, big nose thing...looks better down.)
Now I''ve got to start looking at pictures of floral wreaths. Sweet, something new to obsess about!

Keep the pictures coming girls! I cannot get enough!
I''m getting girlier every day!

Tybee

thanks everyone for the comments as well as for the "welcome" to this forum.

i am happy to hear you tried the watters and liked it, JessesGrl. as they don't sell watters in germany, i just bought it due to the pictures i have seen (and the sizing chart, hehe), so it is somewhat risky. do you have any idea what kind of material the lace is made of?

nell - i can't believe your aunt is creating this dress for you. she must be an artist! and how amazing it must be to wear something that someone you know has made just for you. and i am sure it will look stunning in silver, as the light reflections will emphasize the pick up style beautifully.

rms - with me, it is the opposite: somehow i always envy those who can pull off the really stunning, "big" dresses. i am not very tall, though, so with my body type it would rather look like the dress was wearing me.

tybee - i totally agree. please keep posting. looking at others' dress choices and especially seeing the gorgeous dresses on "real" brides is sooooooo much fun.

regards,
kaschmir

Kash- it is a sturdy lace..not sure what kind though..it is thicker than some of the real sheer laces

I thought i remember reading somewhere that it was a cotton lace..

yeeeeaaaayyyy..

Had my final fitting today... fits perfectly!
