I have always wanted a windmill from him, so I am very happy indeed!

I meant to ask you, what are the green and lavender side stones in the red spinel flower ring? Garnet and spinel? Or sapphire? I really love how the colors come together.

Thank you! The green is mint garnet; the lavender is unheated sapphire.

1) I have enough purple and lavender things set into white metals.
2) Apart from providing contrast, I don't think white metals do anything to enhance the color of lavender, and might wash them out. A white diamond halo can provide the contrast, and the rose gold would be a third color to complement the spinel workout washing it out.
3) I'd like to wear my lavender spinels with pink and mint green colors, which I have already set into rose gold.

Add to whether they'd look similar...I think not? They're different colors after all, and the two settings have different galleries. One spinel is more elongated, and the other spinel is more square.

You do have quite a few lavender/purples in white gold. Now I understand why you went for RG for the lavender spinel. I like the warmth of RG colour, it kind of blends in with my skin tone and does not have the bright contrasting effect of WG (against the skin).

Your spinels are of different colour and shape. I mentioned about the rings looking similar previously because I was thinking that a lay person probably won't be able to tell the difference if you were to wear the rings separately. Though, having said that, you should set them the way that you like. Afterall, these will be your rings which you will wear and enjoy I too am guilty of having a few similar looking CS rings, set in a similar fashion.

Thanks! I thought the little lavenders would have to be sapphire. I've been looking for lavender melee for a while and didn't think you could find little ones with such nice saturation in spinel.

The three stone trellis ring is getting set with the Namibian spess garnet and Mahenge spinels in top right box.

I've got nothing to show you yet but I'm setting a lot of things this year since the damn pandemic started. I'm a little....unhinged. More than a little actually! I usually hoard and sit on things for years because of laziness/indecision/lack of will/ambivalence/all of the above/whatever. And then decide I don't like the outcome anyways and take it apart. I'll have a lot to show here once I'm done I guess.

Have already approved the CAD for my padparadscha ring! Still waiting on it; setter says it should be done in a week or two ahhhhhh

It's inspired by Mc2's Flora ring, but I decided against the flanking diamonds since 1). the design's already eye catching enough and 2). my lack of finger real estate. It'll be done in a matte, brushed 18K rose gold with a tapered band. I can't waaaaaaaait!!!!

I really like the side detailing and think omitting the diamonds was a great idea. With the matte finish, I think those side petals are going to look extra lovely.

Jeff W took a quick photo of my blue Zircon and pink Spinel roughs using his cell/mobile phone, and he said I could share it on PS!

They will be set in a Theo Fennell inspired bombé ring similar to my Richard Homer concave cut square Amethyst with step cut trillion sky blue Topaz sides from Dough Menadue.

It will be ages before I get round to setting them though.

Thank you! The designer also sent a CAD with diamonds, and I just thought it looked too bulky, so I went without. Also saved some money along the way XD

Is everyone seeing major delays with production of their pieces? I have a small earring project in the works and it’s so far been 2 months of waiting. Just wondering what’s the norm. (I’m not being unsympathetic to the challenges vendors have, merely curious).

@Snowdrop13 Big delays yes with getting a setting cast and then finding a jeweller with a workshop open. I am in the UK. Probably also delayed things by 6-8 weeks.

How do you like the silver spinels? Do you have any pieces set with those? I'm curious to know what you think of them. Do they ever look darker? How's the sparkle?

@Cockatiel no, not yet. The green tourmaline project and the pear Aquamarine project will be my first projects to use silver spinel for melee.

I keep leaning towards variations the same color combos. So for our next project I left it completely up to Yvonne to come up with something...the caveat being that i need my finger coverage
