Let's talk about CS projects in progress

My sister is my best friend. I am having a 3-stone (8 mm tanzanite center stone that I picked up from the 2019 Tucson Gem Show) made for her. She has been wanting a 3-stone ring for over 10 years now. After my last promotion, I figured it was time to treat her to something nice. I wouldn't be where I am without her. It needs a final polish and clean here, but looks great!

@snotty_pie it's awesome that you are able to make her wish come true! That tanzanite looks spectacular.

I love this! What a great sister you are!

I keep leaning towards variations the same color combos. So for our next project I left it completely up to Yvonne to come up with something...the caveat being that i need my finger coverage :)

Gaspppppp! Well that's just stunning! I picked up a grand from her too, and this is giving me lovely ideas :)

@voce, is this a ruby or sapphire?

I ask because I suspect this gem is more red than it actually photos.

You're very good at spotting the reds.

@ChaiK, it's a ruby. Definitely gets redder in LED and fluorescent.

These two rings are done. Spess garnet and Mahenge spinel trellis ring, and a tanzanite and Mahenge spinel cluster ring. I hope I get them this week. Come on, USPS!

Calling @2Neezers because I got the tanzanite from her.

Daniel M's speed in completing these projects was incredible. It's barely over two weeks since he sent me the CAD, and a good part of those two weeks was a big holiday.

To be honest, I was looking forward to the spess getting set more so than the tanzanite, since this was one of Dana's last Namibian spess garnets from old stock material. However, after seeing Dan's pictures, I'm looking forward to the tanzanite cluster ring more. Based on what they looked like in the gem jars, I didn't think the colors on the tanzanite and the spinels would look so intense. But it's true, what PSers say about stones darkening when they're set compared to what they look like loose. In this case, I'm happy with the difference!

Beautiful rings! I just had noticed these big round (?) prongs around tanzanite. Interesting! The combination of orange, pink and rose gold in the first ring is such a delight to look at.!

The rings and color combinations are gorgeous! I’m so glad you are happy with the tanzanite :)).
It looks looks amazing set! It definitely looks like it darkened up and is showing more blue now that it’s set. I remember it would shift from more of a lavender to periwinkle depending on lighting, and now I’m seeing blue-violet in the pictures. I love the pink and orange combo as well .

Both rings came out beautifully, voce! I love the ring design of the spess and spinel since I'm an E-W orientation fan :-) The tanzanite and spinel wins for the superb color combination, though because I love the violet blue and pink combination. Rose gold tends to pop blues and greens, so that may be another reason the tanzanite darkened in the finished ring.

I bought this lot of lavender jadeite cabochons and design one simple everyday ring for myself :)
The one i choose for the ring is the one at the bottom right sized at 13 x 11 x 7mm. The biggest is the teardrop shaped sized at 21 x 15 x 6mm. Still thinking on what to do with it.

received my loot today. The lavender slightly lighter than the earlier pic m. Love them though 96F3E0F8-ED72-4299-8708-088AC385C099.jpegD5242D77-AF99-499C-9DDD-FE14BCDF4A41.jpeg

Wow -- amazing stuff on this thread!

About the fast turnaround, although this may not be the best time to buy stuff, it is a great time to have custom work done since walk-in traffic has pretty much stopped for a lot of vendors.

After shipping delays with the USPS, I finally received my Namibian spess ring! Big thanks to Mastercut Gems for selling it and Daniel M for setting it in this trellis design. The side Mahenge spinels are from Cecile Raley Designs.

I adore Namibian spessartite and yours is exactly why. To me, it has exactly the right balance of yellow and red. So beautiful!

@minousbijoux thank you! This stone is my sole Namibian spess, and I definitely feel lucky to have bought it after Dana cut it from old stock rough and posted it for sale. The only downside for this stone (9x6 oval) was that it had the half-and-half shadowing effect, which is why I set it E-W, not N-S.

I had a few Nigerian spessartites and a couple Tanzanian spessartites, but this one called to be set first. I'm thinking to collect spessartite of all origins, now that I have California, Namibia, Nigeria and Tanzania origins. I think the only other origins left to collect are Sri Lanka and Madagascar origins.

Certain colors really are inimitable. This spess, in my opinion, has one of those rarer colors.

I still curse my parents for not giving me a sister. The bond that other women describe feels like a hole within my heart. That's a huge reason why I will be giving our daughter a sister!

I got a brother three years younger but hey he tasked me with looking for studs for him, so I guess it works out?! Lol

Beautiful center tansy ♥

Just received some photos last night from Yvonne at CRD of my hauyne + emerald earring dangles! I purchased the emeralds during her most recent sale and have been waiting anxiously to get em on my ears. The jump rings should be big enough to hang on stud posts as well as thin hoops.

These should be shipped today :)

@Chasiu those are absolutely beautiful! I love that color combo.

I'm waiting for demantoid melee to arrive so I can set these spinels. I like how spinels in this color range look next to chrysoberyls, so I'm hoping the demantoid melee will complement these. The bluer stones I'll halo with diamonds, but I don't really like the purple ones on the right side so I'm trying to see if they'll look nicer with demantoid melee around them.

Did this spess look this orange in the original photos (like the ones currently on MG's site)? I want a bright orange stone but many aren't what I expect in person, at all.

I feel extremely lucky to have such a cool sister. We fought like crazy when we were growing up though!

The spess is so neon and very orange! :kiss2::kiss2: My ideal spess colour!

I went to look, but realized that this is from the order where I forgot to snap screenshots before purchasing! So I don't have the vendor pics to compare :cry2:. His current offerings are all on the red side, not the same color. What shape spess are you looking for? I remember @lovedogs has an amazing oval in the preloved section.

I prefer round but not too large, like around 1ct. I was hoping you bought one like the 1.53ct at MGs and ended up with that gorgeous thing as a nice surprise! I will keep looking but it is getting frustrating. I have accumulated too many stones that don't fit the project regarding color and I need to be more careful before ordering, especially if I can't return. I also don't want to be a serial returner.
I seem to be more picky about my orange shades than any other color.

Thank you for looking for screenshots, though!

Everyone!
You are all bringing me some much needed beauty/happiness boost with all your fantastic acquisitions and beautiful projects :love: More than you know.
I get so excited every time there is any activity on this thread. I run right over.
Thank you all=)

Please check on this pair, hope it is not too expensive. I will buy one from you if you don't want 2 stones. https://www.litnon.com/index.php?page=viewgem&id=11745

@JrJ I will buy the one you don't like if you decide to proceed :D

Good find, Musia! I just asked for a video! If I do proceed with the order I will let you know. The ones you posted look like they may fit the bill. I bought one recently that was a smidgen more yellow than I wanted and these look like they may work better.
Thank you
