You''re very welcome TL. Don''t forget to check that he can modify the settings you like. When I asked him about my pear he kept saying ''no''! There was a setting he offered me (and I apologise but I really can''t remember which now) that could be modified.

I think it like your double halo with bigger diamonds. That ring has presence!
He can modify the latest double halo I posted. I asked him about the cost with upgraded diamonds a while ago, but I think I''ll do SI diamonds instead. I think he''ll forfeit the auction I won so I''ll buy this one instead. He must go crazy with our endless decisions - LOL!!

Well, I decided to go with the DNA shank, and I just received it. I love it. I'm so glad to finally get my poor spessartite out of that hideous mounting. I can never get it fully clean in there since the cutlet is completely enclosed and the prongs are touching the pavillion. Now it will be in a halo and I'm anticipating more sparkle.

The setting is substantial in size (thick shank too). It appears to look like it will fit perfectly even though the mount is made for a 7x11 and my pear is an 8x11.

See the icky prongs touching the pavillion and closing off the cutlet.

TL, that is going to be one smokin'' ring! If you wear that while walking, you''re gonna trip - I know I would! I''m glad you like the setting, but I''m a little jealous you got the DNA shank - I''ve been looking at those in the rounds. You didn''t upgrade the diamonds, right?

Aw man, if it were me, I''d probably have wrestled the spess out of that old setting with some wire cutters by now! It''s good you''re more patient than I am - don''t want to risk that gorgeous stone.

Love it. I love colored pears. I''d wear that some days as my enagement ring, if it were mine.

Thanks Cellentani,
No I didn''t upgrade the diamonds. I''ve been buying too many LOGR''s lately, and upgrades can really add up. Besides, I''ve been happy with the SI diamonds, especially when they''re very small.

I was also thinking of taking the spess out of there, but I would be devastated if I chipped or scratched the stone. It''s one of my most beloved stones!! I can''t wait to take some sunshine pics of it in it''s new setting. It glows outside.

Thanks Pink Tower!!
I wear my favorite colored gem rings on my e-ring finger. I got rid of my white diamond ages ago. I'm a true-blue colored stoner!!

They were right...You are an enabler.
I was satisfied all those years with a round diamond. I need to go put it in the safe deposit box, because I never wear it now.
(The diamond has the tapered baguettes, Harry Winston style. Now, tapered baguettes would be really nice with a colored pear like you have I was thinking! )

Colored stone e-rings are very popular in Europe, and are becoming more popular in the States. You should go for it!!

I sure wouldn’t mind a coloured engagement ring today. I didn’t know didly squat about it when I was first engaged. Oh well….

TL,
That setting is huge on your finger. I think you’ll have an even more difficult time trying to pry it off your finger at the end of the day. As for the LOGR, I’m getting the feel that if the melees are tiny, there’s no need to upgrade the stones but if the stones are larger or single cuts where everything can be seen, it is better to upgrade the melee?

They are not as sparkley as some of my VS stones, but they still sparkle. I do think they're I-grade, and not true SI's on this one, but again, they are tiny and it isn't as noticable, so that helps. I have some SI stones that do sparkle more than these. I'm contemplating exchanging it for VS diamonds, but he might charge me the $30 return fee. In the end, the orange of that stone is so intense, I don't think the diamonds will be that noticable.

I think what happend is that I also ordered another setting at the same time, and he wanted to save money and ship those together. I had ordered the first setting far in advance of this one (by a week) and asked him to send them separately. He said, "okay' but then he sent them together anyways. He probably made this one in a hurry. The casting is very nice and the workmanship, it's just the diamonds that are not as nice as the other rings I have with SI stones.

Okay, these are definitely I-quality diamonds especially after I louped them. Therefore, I am returning the ring and upgrading the diamonds. The cloudiness of the diamonds just bugs me way too much even if the setting itself is made well. The problem is he wants to charge me shipping on top of it, when these are clearly cloudy stones. I don't mind paying for the VS upgrade fee, but he didn't have to pay for shipping for this ring since he sent both in the same packing the last time. Ugh!

I emailed him back and told him that, we'll see what he says. It is a lovely setting and worth upgrading. I just wish I didn't have to upgrade in the first place. The rings with my other SI stones are nice diamonds, even if they're single cuts, but these were just not up to parr. Therefore, if you do get the SI diamonds, there may be some inconsistantcy in the SI quality (they may be I-quality). I have not encountered inconsistantcy in the VS quality. The recent LOGR 7x7 legacy I won on auction had true SI quality diamonds, very nice and clean and sparkley.

You know, I thought those diamonds looked a little cloudy - it''s such a crapshoot, isn''t it? I just wish they were consistant. Very frustrating that you have to return them and deal with the shipping hassle. You''d think that if you''re returning to upgrade (an pay more), that he''d be happy for the extra business and not charge you.

Thanks Cellentani,
I hope he knows I''m a very good customer. That''s all I can say. We''ll see what happens, I''ll keep everyone posted.

Sorry about this problem, TL. It's really stinks how inconsistent his diamonds are. I really didn't notice the cloudyness until you mentioned it.

I haven't had any problems with LOGR's rings and only upgraded a few times with the diamonds. I'm wondering if I've lucked out only because I request different size mounting? Not sure.

Right now I have 2 rings and 1 pendant at my jeweller's for mounting. Should be getting them back soon... hopefully it won't take over three months!!

I've been pretty lucky except for one other setting that I returned. I have to say I did order VS diamonds on that last one I returned, but they were not sparkley and the casting wasn't very good, so I take that back about the VS diamonds being consistant as well. It was just one time though. I just don't like the $30 restocking fee that he charges when you have to return something not to your liking. It is a gorgeous setting though, and my pear will look amazing in it if I get the upgrade. The S&H is $14 and I already paid for $10 in S&H today. Ugh!

It really adds up, doesn''t it??

I just received a shipment on cultured pearls from China and the shipping was just enourmous. They wouldn''t combine the shipping. They are really nice though.

If you can help me, I''m in the market for a nice size spess. That is one of the reason why I went to my jeweller to look at his collection. His spess was way to reddish for my liking, although the price was right. He did have a red one that was really beautiful but I''m looking for more like your colors...

Gosh, I wish I could help you and LD find the spessartites of your dreams. I''ll keep my eyes peeled. I got my pear 6 to 7 years ago, and that color is hard to locate nowadays.

He''s waiving the shipping fee, so that''s some good news at least.
