Lots of love, prayers, and healing thoughts going your way!

Hello eveybody

It's Saturday in Canuck-Land. What's to be grateful for today? (I'm working hard at this list today as the monster has woken up so bear with me):

I made a star for our huge blue spruce out on the front lawn...lotsa lights on it but I thought it needed a star...sweet DH has put it up and it looks awesome.

The reindeer are all set up outside (small herd)

NO more outside lights work: we're all done. and there's one extension cord left over...hmmmm

The fire is burning brightly in the living room. Furkids sleeping on the rug in front. Sweet DH reading his paper and working on the Sudoku.

Boxes are brought up from the XMAS room in the basement for indoor decorating. I can work away at that this week as I want...nice to have a place where the xmas gunk doesn't interfere with the kitchen or my office. That's a good thing!

Cider is warming up on the stove with cinnamon and cloves. Almost good enough to drink.

Today I can work around the house all day in my jammies. woohoo Nothing scheduled until this evening. Might even have a nap.

And, best thing: I made it through another week. A squeaker but still we'll take it.

Thank you all again for your beautiful notes. I read them all (often more than once) in the night when the monster is at full bore....

Things sound very cozy there LS! And I love the leftover cord, makes ya wonder, doesn't it??

Hang in there miss, Monday is only 2 days away, hopefully that means good meds for you!

I will pray Monday gets here quick, sending you a giant hug, sweetie. Your DH sounds like a sweeite pie, and your furbabies too.

I hope the monster stops bothering you and gives you some peace today. It sounds like you''ve got a nice warm home and a very sweet husband to relax with.

Thank you for posting, LS. You are in all of our hearts. You make your home sound cozy despite everything you are going through.

Love,
Deb

Thinking of you LS, hoping that your monster goes to sleep for a long time. I know that the diagnosis is incomplete, but how can they not treat your pain better? I get Botox in my sternocleidomastoid to relieve the pain of benign growths, but cannot imagine what you are going through. I just hope they can give you something to relieve this.

Dear Diary:

I hope you can bear with me. My neurosurg wanted me to document the pain when it was at its worst. I had a hard time describing it to him when I was there last week because it was reasonably well controlled. So here goes.

The Monster is well and truly awake and really ticked off .

It's like my upper left jaw is in a vise (for those of you not aware of medeival-type tools, there's a pic below). It's tightened around my palette on the one side, and the outside of my face on the other.

It is so tight it feels like if I could take a pliers and remove all of my upper left teeth that would help relieve some pressure.

The inside of my mouth (upper left portion only) is burning and feels really swollen.

The boundaries of the pain are from the front-centre of my jaw (ie: below my nose) along mid-cheek to my hairline. Down along the jaw (in other words, about a 3" strip").

If I press on the jawline really hard, it feels better. Even better is to press really hard with an icepack. No cloth in between, the feeling of 'almost frostbite' is a relief.

We were out at a Christmas function tonight. Had to run to the car from the venue. My face started screaming with that little bit of activity. We drove home with my fist jammed into my face.

Monday I hope to get some meds to get me through the next month. For those of you wondering, the neurosurg wanted me to stay on the Tegratol at this level until I saw the next guy. They are treating it rather conservatively at this point, because the diagnosis was just made 4 weeks or so ago.

The flareups of this kind of pain have been happening for 3-1/2 years or so, about every 6 months. They last about 3-4 months.

Nighty Night.
LS

ETA that sounds really depressing but I feel better having written it down.

Oh LS I am just so sorry to hear that you''re going through all of that. I really, really hope they can get you something to make you feel more comfortable!

LS~I am so concerned about you. You must get some relief from the pain. I hope that your doctors are able to help you find something that will work for you. I take Topamax to reduce pain and spasms. I also call it "stupidmax," because it affects my memory and word retrieval skills. I'll be as dumb as dirt, before you know it

<----small attempt at some levity...Please keep checking in. We are all here for you.

LS- I am so sorry you are sufferring. There is nothing worse than living with chronic pain. Sending many prayers for a quick recovery.....I really hope you feel better soon.

LS: Words just are not enough. I''m in awe at your grace and eloquence while yoy''re dealing with such pain.

I would secon Pandora''s suggestion... if your neuro''s can''t come up with a better solution with this next visit, it''s time to call in a pain specialist.

I''m hoping for a good day for you today.

OH HAPPY DAY

The monster stayed quiet today for the most part.

I finished my Christmas tree tonight.

Enjoyed the sermon at church.

Went out for lunch with my friends. We laughed a lot.

Dug out my Mom''s old meatloaf recipe and we had that for dinner. YUM!

So glad you had a nice day. I am sending prayers and dust to you via the NYS thruway into Canada

So glad to hear you had a relatively pain-free day...I hope tomorrow is a good one, too.

I''m just now reading through this. I am sorry for your pain and so hopeful for you that they can quickly find the cause and cure. I so admire you for trying to find bright spots - I think it is that type of mental attitude that helps the most.

Best wishes for speedy relief - I truly mean that!

I am so glad you had a pretty good day. It broke my heart to read how much pain you have when the monster is getting your attention. I hope they get you some new and better meds soon - like YESTERDAY wouldn''t be soon enough. HUGS to you girl. Your star on the tree sounds lovely.

Oh my heart goes out to you LS. Glad you had a good day today, had fun with friends. Love the star on your tree. Praying you get relief soon. Sending lots of prayers your way. You are a strong one, I wish I could take some of the pain away.

Oh LS. ((HUGS)) I truly wish there was something I could say to make this easier for you. Just know that you are thought of, and prayed for, often. ((HUGS))

These might make you smile. This is my honorary neice Bella, with a hug.

Thank you Gecko, for the giggle.

I just got a call from my doctor''s office. They have bumped my appointment to Thursday.
8.gif
I said that would be fine, as long as they would prescribe some morphine in the meantime...nyuk nyuk.
