More Fun Things on Etsy

Hey Etsy-lovers! Would you be able to look at this thread for me and tell me if you think Sally or any of the recommended Etsy vendors might be able to make a version of the rose gold studs shown in that thread.

Here''s the thing -- I would TOTALLY post pictures but I am on a temp computer while mine is back at Apple for repair & don''t have a quick clipping device loaded. Computer should be back asap though!!

Pls pls pls ... I''m obsessing over the earrings but not their 3K designer price tag. OUCH!!

LOVE that key pendant sketch! I can''t wait to see it when it''s finished.

Thanks to the recommendations in this thread, I contacted Julia about getting a couple of semi-matching gift pendants made with vermarine and citrine trillions from Art Cut Gems. She''s incredibly friendly and I''m excited about the project. Will post details/pictures as it progresses.

Hello Deco,
and welcome to our world, mua ha ha ha ha..

I took at the earrings (very lovely btw), and I think for sure sally could execute them nicely.
Luckily, she recently started working in RG too.
Would you be sourcing your own diamonds though? (I assume so..)..

I will also recommend Julia Kay Taylor, she is super easy to work with and I think she has great skill.

Oooooh. "Sourcing my own diamonds" -- good point. LOL. Hmm. Had not gotten that far yet. Guess that''s one tick mark toward asking BGD or Whiteflash to quote instead. I have no earthly idea how to find eight diamonds of the right size or even guesstimate what size that would be. Anyone have the measurements of Jennifer Garner''s ear handy?

Thanks for looking Arjunajane! Adore yr. in progress key! One of my own housekeys is an antiquey key like that & I''ve been eyeing that Tiffany collection a bit myself.

Though yours is a one of a kind!

Deco - I *think* Sally could source the stones for you. It wouldn't hurt to ask her about it. She was going to source some colored stones for me for a pendant, but I think I will be using diamonds -- tiny, tiny diamonds though. She is sourcing those for me.

AJ-that key is going to be awesome! She did a great job coming up w/the perfect design!

Julia opened my pink spinel bezel ring, and the corner was practically entirely shipped off because the original bezel setting was badly made. And this is why I don''t typically buy pre-set rings! But Julia said she can reset it, it''ll just take a little more care. It just goes to show though, once it''s set, there can be damages you can''t see and might never know about, so it''s good to go with an experienced jeweler...

My poor pink baby..

Hrmm..I reckon if you contact GOG, I was told in another thread they have a supplier that sells H&A melee of any size, and you can also choose your colour and clarity range I understand (which usually you don''t get with melee, it just tends to be F/G, tough luck!). You could ask for I/J or whatevs and make them even more affordable
31.gif

I think if you show Sally the photos, she will easily estimate the size for you (or even GOG should be able to).

I would usually say to let Sally source them, but I think being in the US you have a price, and very possibly quality advantage in this instance.

Thankyou for the comment on the key - don''t get a Tiff''s one, get a Julia one, lol!

My poor pink baby..

I''m sorry to hear this MTG..can you remind me where you bought this ring?
I''m glad Julia thinks she can take care of it.

Deco Julia (who is doing my mom's peridot ring) can source diamonds for you and she's in the US. I don't know if they would be the same caliber as BGD's melee (and kinda doubt it) though. She's very reasonable, works with gold, and is in the US. JuliaKayTaylor is her store.

I've learned that when asking non-ps vendors for melee you have to ask if the melee is machine cut, or hand cut... and that apparently most vendors say (I have NO IDEA IF THIS IS TRUE) that Russian Melee are the best they can get in (got this from local people, not Etsy people). Most have no idea why you care what the cut on the melee is, they just keep repeating F/G VS like it answers your question for you (again these are my local stores). You can always ask one of the vendors... wink and GOG might be your best bets there if you can just buy ideal melee from them.

Personally though, BGD would be my first stop for the total package.

I just bought this pair of earrings to go with my evening dress! Never bought anything from her before and will let you guys know once I receive it. it''s quite a deal as she is having 20% off promo.

Opps.. I forgot the photo.

AJ....LOVE the key. I like it better than Tiffany''s!

So I am inspired now. I just emailed Heartofwater about setting my stones. I have an 8x10 mm aqua I want to do in a pill box.

I also have my three little stones which have been waiting to be set. I want to do a basic set of stackers. But can''t decide what metal. Anyone have any opinions?

How about the green in silver, the lavender in rose gold, and the orange in yellow gold? Yummmm....

I love this idea alot ltl, good call freefly

Thanks ltl on they key - me too! Julia and I have decided to put a tiny lil diamond into
the middle of the bail - cool huh?
I feel like this will be a versatile piece I''ll get alot of wear out of, and it''s special as it''s my
b''day gift from Fi.

I like the idea except the lavender one is a color shifter and can look blue at times. And the "oragne" one is a pink purple in real life.

I think I will do the spinel (the pink one) in pink gold and the other two in yellow gold. Everything I have is WG or silver. I should mix it up a little.

AJ-a diamond in the key, this is sounding better and better. What a sweet B-day gift

arjunajane - I am really curious to see how your pendant turns out. I have been looking for the exact same thing (a tiffany-like pendant without the pricetag that I can customize) and I am really anxious to hear your thoughts on the pendant (and pictures! of course!)

Thanks Loves Vintage, Arjunajane & Gypsy! Good tip about GOG & Wink maybe selling melee. Food for thought!

And yes, seeing as what you''ve said about the stones IRL, I think RG and YG will be a nice change for you.

Hi Cammy,
I will def. post a thread on it when its finished, so keep an eye out.
Although, I should tell you I won''t have it for another couple weeks as Julia is making me a ring at the
same time..
Did you see the pics earlier in the thread of the keys she has already finished?

imho, if you''re looking for a tiff''s-inspired one you can customize, you can''t go wrong with Julia.
She just put up a drawing of a key with someone''s initials as the head, it looks really great!
If I love this one as much as I think I will, I may consider having a smaller one done in gold.

I''m customizing everything, down to the chain and its adjustable lengths, and she''s very easy
to communicate your tastes/wants to.

Of course I understand if you''d rather wait to see the finished product in mine, I will happily post a link here once I''ve received it to remind you.

Thanks Deco, and same to your earrings!

Hi Friends!

Just wanted to show you my Venus ring from Sally at Heart of Water.

"Sterling Silver Venus Lotus ring with an 8mm Rose Cut Rainbow Moonstone Cabochon."

It should be here any day now.

I don''t post often however I saw arjunajane comment about the key pendant that Julia made with initials, it is for me. I asked Julia to design one with mine and DH''s first initials, M and P. She supplied me with 4 choices, here they are!

MandPkey.JPG

I choose #4. I love the final drawing for it and can''t wait to get it. Working with Julia was great and I look forward to working with her again.

I need to thank you arjunajane. It was your idea of the adjustable chain however Julia offered it to me also. Great idea and I look forward to being able to wear it with so many things.

My pleasure EMP, I love your design! I may have to copy your idea in the future..
isn''t Julia awesome to work with?

Do you plan to get the flat cable chain, or a different type? (out of curiousity)..

I''ll look forward to seeing your finished key!

Please do copy the idea.

I am getting the flat chain, it was super cheap and figured if I didn''t really care for the chain I can always change it out.

Julia is wonderful to work with, I can''t reccomend her enough. I look forward to seeing your key as I love the idea of the diamond.
