I purchased this piece of Morenci turquoise from a recent gem/mineral show.
Tonight I finished a ring. Here are some photos I took as I worked on it.
Making jewelry is so much fun!

Beautiful! I so enjoy seeing all the pieces you've made. I took a class once but didn't have the time to invest to take it further....someday...and I would love to be able to reach out for suggestions on what equipment to purchase when I do.

Thanks for the nice compliment!
I'm glad you aren't tired of seeing my creations!
It's a very rewarding hobby.

How many threads do we see where someone actually crafts the piece from start-to-finish... what a joy to behold! Thank you for sharing the process with us, @stracci2000. It's gorgeous!! :geek2:
Thanks @Autumn in New England !
It's becoming more of a challenge the older I get. I can't see as well as I used to and I keep losing things under my bench.....old lady problems!

Wow, how talented you are. Morenci, with its pyrite inclusions and gorgeous blue color, is one of my favorite turquoise locales, and your ring is fit tribute to this beautiful stone!

You are so talented and creative! It's a fabulous piece!

@stracci2000 First of all, that is so cool! I know you've made lots of pieces before, but the results are impressive every single time.

Can I ask a question about the stone? In some of the pictures it looks like there's a bit of opalescence. Is that real, or a trick of the camera?
Thanks! I'm glad you think it's cool!
Turquoise is way underrated, I think.
There is no opalescence in the stone.
Just pretty blue gradating from top to bottom. With a ribbon of pyrite and a bit of quartz on the right edge

Thank you!
I love the pyrite, too.
So much turquoise, so little time!

Stracci2000 this is a beautiful ring! I had to look up where Morenci is from (Arizona). It’s a famous turquoise! Have you ever been to the Millicent Rogers Museum to see her turquoise pieces? It’s the best. Also, the turquoise museum that was in downtown ABQ twenty years ago was cool too. The ring you did is really great Thanks for sharing.

Thanks @LightBright ! Morenci is indeed gorgeous. I need to get my hands on some Bisbee, too.

I have been to the Millicent Rogers museum in Taos! What beautiful jewelry she had!
But I have never been to the Turquoise Museum, the Atomic Museum or the Rattlesnake Museum, all of which are a stones throw from me!

@stracci2000: like everyone else, I think your ring is absolutely fabulous. Love your detailing and that gorgeous, gorgeous unique stone.

But I am really here because I'm so impressed with your skill - and in the time I've "known" you here, imo you have progressed from a crafty hobbyist to an accomplished metalsmith. Please make more! Time to quit your day job, lol, we want more, more, more! :P2:kiss2:

Thanks so much!
I really do enjoy making jewelry. I need to get busy on the other stones I recently bought.
My head is swirling with design ideas. Sometimes I find it really hard to settle on a design for a specific stone.
So stay tuned for more rings in the near future!

@stracci2000, I just want to share that I love it when you post your own creations here. Also: the leaf detail on this ring is fab -- I really like it..

Thanks @MidModMin! , I'll be working on more rings soon.
The leaf detail is kind of homage to the
feather motif seen so frequently in Navajo designs.

I love how the leaf balances the stone. Beautiful! Congratulations on a lovely creation!!

I came back to look at this again @stracci2000 because wow, I am still in awe. I also had a question. Did you make that leaf and those little balls? Or did you get them independently and add them on??
