@mrs-b are you OK?

I’m so glad to see you’re on the other side of your surgery. I’m glad it was bumped and hopefully soon you’ll start to see the payoff from this procedure. I’m so sorry for the pain your feeling right now. Tylenol is just not enough after something like this.

Meanwhile, I do find it kind of funny that you and my mom had surgery on the same day. She had some “new hardware” installed on the bones in her neck. She has been in a lot of pain for a very long time (years and years) so we’re all hopeful this fixes it. I’m wishing you both a speedy recovery.

I missed the posts leading up to your surgery, but I'm happy to hear that it went well, and sorry you're in pain right now.

My BP continues to drop in response to the pain meds I got in the surgery. Last BP was 91/24. I feel like I'm just fading away....

Prayers appreciated. Getting a tad nervous.

I've had some reaction to a long acting pain med they give you during the surgery. it's plummeted my BP. Consequently they can't give me stronger pain meds. So after all of this, I'm on....tylenol.

This is a nightmare and the pain is horrific.

Oh my cripes. That's awful! Awful awful awful. I'm so sorry mrs-b!

Is there a reversal agent or antidote they can give you? This happened to my DH 2 wks ago and no one said a thing about reversal agents although there was one. He didn't find out until he came home and looked up the meds he was given but by then it was too late and he suffered for a week.

@mrs-b There are meds that raise your blood pressure as a side effect. Why can’t they give you something like that! My mom takes a med for dizziness. They won’t give it to her when her blood pressure is higher than 130 because the med raises her blood pressure to a dangerous level. Can’t they think out of the box!? Ask them if they can prescribe midodrine (Orvaten)..That’s what med my mom takes that they have to monitor because it raises her blood pressure too much.

@mrs-b I forget if you are already taking corticosteroids but perhaps they could give you a stress dose of hydrocortisone?

FWIW my mom is on replacement hydrocortisone therapy (both adrenal glands and pituitary were surgically removed years ago) -- when she is undergoing surgery or physical trauma she takes 50-100mg of hydrocortisone (stress dose) to ensure her body has what it needs to deal with the trauma and to keep functioning [her body is unable to produce adrenaline naturally]. If she does receive a stress dose, she has to gradually wean down from the higher dose down to her usual daily dose -- if the stress dose is 50mg, then it takes 2-4 days to wean her down; if the stress dose is 100mg, we wean her down over 2 weeks.

It sounds like your whole body is overwhelmed and maybe a carefully calibrated punch of adrenaline (via hydrocortisone) could safely rev up your system -- obviously your medical team is working on it, but sometimes suggestions can trigger better options, and time is of the essence to get your pain under control and your body humming.

Just an idea to throw out there -- it may not be viable or safe for your situation.

Prayers and positive energy vibes outgoing to you.

Mrs. B, if your kidneys and heart can take it and you have a catheter, they can increase your IV fluids to Increase your blood pressure.

@mrs-b I have been where you are (3x) - thinking of you with fingers crossed. The post-surgical pain is rough but after Day 3 things should really start improving. Hope your BP is back to normal. Walk as much as they’ll let you and you are able - and make sure PT and OT see you before you’re discharged.

Sending prayers and healing dust @mrs-b. Hope your blood pressure improves and you get some pain relief soon ❤️

Prayers are outgoing.

Sending lots of dust, hope you wake up tomorrow feeling more like yourself.

I hope things are going much better today. Are you still in the hospital? Hoping they can get more than Tylenol into you as soon as safe!

No. Worse. Excruciating.

So sorry to hear this! Surely there is something they can do to lessen your pain - hope they find it quickly.

Oh goodness I'm so sorry to hear this @mrs-b I'm sending love and prayers that your pain is reduced, bp restored and you are recovering and healing. It's hard to find the right words but please know I'm rooting for you :wavey:

Oh lovely, I'm so sorry. Sending you love and strength across the globe x

I hope things are getting a little easier today for you @mrs-b. I just read your latest posts in this thread and it sounds like you are going thru hell. I’m so sorry. I hope they are able to figure out a way to make you more comfortable. Tylenol???? Really??? WTH

Hope the pain subsides, with or without medication….. just so it goes away or at least becalmed manageable. Prayers upon prayers for you.

What about a nerve block? I had to have one after my knee surgery.

I’m sorry you’re having so much pain, @mrs-b.

I hope that they find a way to manage it for you!

I keep coming and hoping for an update that says your BP is better and they have managed your pain. Hoping your silence means they have you comfortable enough to be sleeping.

Thinking of you. Hope you are feeling much better soon.

Prayers continue

@mrs-b I know the last thing are your mind is to make us feel better..but I, for one, am very worried about you. Please ask Tim to let us know how you’re doing.
