What are you ladies planning to use as processional music?

We had a guitarist that seems to have canceled on us so now we''re just going to use our Mp3 Player and our Coordinator will run the music for the ceremony. I''m pretty sure ithese are our final selections........

For the Bridal Party''s Procession, we chose "I wish" by Rascal Flatts, and
for my walk, we chose "From this moment on" by Shania Twain, and although you didn''t ask,
for the recessional, we chose "Beautiful Day" U2 or Van Morrison''s "Days Like This"

We''re going all classical for the ceremony and having a violinist play.
For the Bridal Party: Trumpet Voluntary by Clarke
Bridal Processional: Wedding March by Mendelssohn
Recessional: Rejouissance by Handel (I think)

For MY walk down the aisle we''re doing "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison.

For our recessional we''re doing "I''m in Love With a 4 Eyed Girl" by Rhett Miller (of old97''s fame). We love that song and it is one FI plays to me all the time. He doesn''t know it yet though!

I''d have to agree

The lyrics to FTM just give me shivers and BD just makes me feel so happy and alive :)

I think we''re using the Shania song for our first dance. It really is such a beautiful song!!

Right now I''m planning on "Songbird." My favorite version is Rosie Thomas'', but FI is very partial to Eva Cassidy (which is beautiful, too) so we''ll probably end up using that one

It will either be our processional, recessional OR first dance song, since it is "our" song. I kind of like the idea of having an acoustic guitar version for the processional and then either Rosie or Eva for our first dance--kind of our musical wedding "theme"

Musey~ Don''t forget that you also have a last dance to plan for, too

You could have both versions and your accoustic guitar for the processional :)

haha I''d pity the guests who like variety

Lol

Hey, if you find yourself having a hard enough time deciding between the last two then why not? Alot of the times, by the time the last dance rolls around, many people have left and/or may not even notice

I posted this somewhere else, but Nancy Grace just "admitted" she got married early this spring and walked down the aisle to "Moon River" her favorite song. I wish, wish, wish I would''ve thought of that tune!!!! I did the whole traditional Pachelbel''s Canon in D route and now I wish I had walked down the aisle to something more eccentric, I think. Moon River! What a beautiful song...
15.gif
ah well, hope someone else here uses it!

Also I love the old "Friends" theme song by Enya...

And: Start me Up by the Rolling Stones, always thought that would be cooler than cool

I''m fresh out of ideas for now...

We''re having:

"Playing Love" from the film ''The Legend of 1900'' by Ennio Morricone.

I adored the music and the film and bought the dvd for FI who fell in love with it too. Before we were even engaged he said if we ever get married I want this for our wedding. I had never told him it was my favourite so that kind of sealed the deal.

I managed to get the sheet music (on ebay of all places) so I''m trying to work out how it will be played. One of FI''s Best Men plays with the Royal London Philharmonic and has been put in charge of music for the day, so he is going to sort that side for me.

Even better the overture to the film incorporates bits of this piece and is 10 minutes long so it is great for music while everyone is coming in and sitting down etc.

Monarch, I''m really intrigued by this. I''ve never heard this version and a search I just did came up with nothing. Any idea what album it''s on?

I LOOOVE Ennio Morricone! We''re going to have at least a few of his compositions on our iPod for the reception, mainly from Cinema Paradiso, probably. Makes FI get teary-eyed every time he hears it. So cute.

Our processional will be "Simple Gifts" (AKA the Quaker Hymn-we''re not Quaker, though. Just love the song.), and the recessional will be (the Hawaiian musician) Iz''s Wonderful World/Somewhere over the Rainbow.

We''ll be processing to "In a Sentimental Mood" recorded by John Coltrane and Duke Ellington. We picked that song several years ago before we were even engaged. We listed to jazz all the time, and FI is a huge collector of Coltrane albums. So it''s sentimental to us, LOL!

We had a solo guitarist, so it makes a difference what kind of music you use.

We had him play some Spanish classical music by Villa Lobos (I think!) for guest seating.

Then he played The Beatles "I Will" while seating family. I am not a huge Beatles fan, but this song is so pure and beautiful on the guitar.

Bridesmaids entered to "Moon River" which is just a personal favorite and makes me cry everytime I hear it.

My dad and I walked down to a very slow, classic version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow, and then DH and I recessed to the faster, Izzy Hawaiian version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow, which is much more celebratory. It was a cool bridge of before and after.

I'm having trouble remembering the details - yikes!!! And I swore I never would.... there's this southern dirge from way back (ironic huh? LOL) that is called "coming home" or something... and the music is actually that of a classical composer (with no words - they were added centuries? later) that has been done by new world orchestra (I think??) and I fell in love with the music and when I heard the words I thought it was even better.... even if it was a dirge LOL But now I cannot remember any of it and it is driving me nuts!!! I swear I heard the music on little einsteins.... but all the searches I've done are bringing up nothing.... nothing familiar at least LOL I'll keep looking. I thought the music was *lovely* and still do :)

ETA I figured out the composer... still working on the rest - dvorak!

Ha! got it!!! http://www.columbia.edu/cu/cuo/F2002-5.mp3

Dvoøák Symphony No. 9

I came across a REALLY CUTE song, perhaps not for a processional/rescessional, but DEF for another place in the wedding.

"Yhe one who loves you the most" by Brett Dennen

Enjoy!!

I think we''re doing Amazing Grace for the processional, and maybe a Louis Armstrong song "What a lovely day" or "What a Wonderful World," possibly something Sinatra. I have to ask FI though, the only one I''m vehement about is Amazing Grace.

My music is quite untraditional, but so far everyone has been giving us the thumbs up about. Probably because we''re selective in who we tell!

Bridesmaid Processional: Lovely Day - Bill Withers
Brides Processional: My Cheri Amour - Stevie Wonder
Recessional: Everlasting Love - U2''s version

I walked up the aisle to Vangelis'' Hymne played on the piano. Its a beautiful piece of music. I must admit I did get funny looks when I told people we were using a Vangelis piece. I think they had images of me legging it up the aisle to Chariots of Fire!
9.gif

Hm...maybe I should have thought about it more. These all seem like cool things to come down the aisle to. I told my guitarist to just "sing something islandish" (he''s fijian.) To this day, I really have no idea what I walked the aisle down to...I guess I wasn''t listening.
20.gif

Processional I''m having a friend play cannon in D into the bridal chorus (march? get them confussed), my aunt and uncle are singing "from this moment" and my cousins are singing "the lord''s prayer"
For our first dance we are having "so this is love". The song is from disney''s Sleeping Beuty, we found an instrimental version that is so pretty.
I''m excited!

We''re having a brass quintet, and I picked two pieces from Mussorgsky''s Pictures at an Exhibition for the processional: the first ''Promenade'' for the groom and wedding party and ''The Gate at Kiev'' for myself. My more traditional hubby-to-be picked Mendelssohn''s ''Wedding March'' for the recessional.

Entry of the Queen of Sheba, Handel. A slower version than this, but here is the tune: MIDI Link
