My BGD Truth 3 Stone Upgrade (with new 3ct center)!

Phoenix--I got this ring sized to a 6.5 b/c I like my rings loose and I don't want to have it resized again in the near future! I think the 20mm is perfect horizontal coverage and dose not hang over the sides at all. I think it will work for your smaller finger size, too. What setting are you thinking of now with the new side stones?

Love that blue fire!

Wow, it's absolutely stunning! The size difference is very noticeable in the side by side glamour shots! Wear it in good health! :appl:

Thanks for replying so promptly, mom2boys. I'm glad to hear the resulting 20mm would be ok. Setting-wise, I'd lurve to have the existing LM saved (I did pay almost USD3k for it, inclg insurance, shipping etc), but am not sure if it's possible!! :nono: I've asked Brian and Lesley, but they're not sure themselves until they see the ring (which I'm sending to them next week). Failing that, I may ask for the Truth setting or have Victor do a new one (I'm *loathe* to have to spend more $$$$!! ;( ).

Phoenix--If your setting cannot be reworked w/ the new stones (and you're not sentimental about the setting from LM), you also could see how much the scrap value for your platinum would be w/ whatever vendor you choose to use. Then you could use the credit towards the new setting w/ that vendor. Just a thought (which is what I did recently)!

That's a good idea. How much did you get for yours/ do you think I could get for mine?

(I'm not sentimental, just don't want to have to shell out more $$$, ya'know?)

Oh one more thought, I'm surprised to see that BGD settings are not that much cheaper than those of LM and VC. But if I go with BGD, chances are that I could re-work the new setting if God forbid I'd have to change the sidestones again in the future!

Phoenix--I turned in some old gold/platinum pieces that I did not use--it all depends upon the total weight that you turn in. I would ask the vendor 1st (Lesley okayed everything I sent in w/ BGD) and then wait and see how much credit you will get back. I got about 1/2 the cost of my setting if I were to have the whole setting replaced. Luckily, it only cost me a fraction of the cost to replace the center head in the end. I'm using the credit now toward other future purchases!

I did go w/ BGD b/c I bought the diamonds from them originally and I was going w/ a simple stock piece that I did not feel needed to be hand forged. BTW, I did inquire about VC and his 3 stone platinum settings but he wanted to source the sidestones himself so I chose not to go w/ him. However, if I ever want a pave eternity band in the future, I think VC would be worth the extra $$ just for his pave work alone.

Wow!! that;s great. I'm soooo happy for you, that you managed to work the rise in metal prices in yr favour!! YAY!! :appl:

Re VC, he did offer to source sidestones for me too, but I politely declined! :wink2: It's important to me that all three diamonds in this 3-stone ring match perfectly. BUT like you, I'm having him do some other stuff - his work is TDF!

Absolutely stunning!

Hi everyone! I recently decided to upgrade the center stone in my Truth 3 stone ring. It now holds a fabulous 3.02 ct H SI-1 diamond from BGD! They were able to reuse my original setting which was also a plus!

Thanks again to all of the wonderful staff at Brian Gavin Diamonds for such a great experience! Brian and Lesley were really great to work with!

Now onto the photos!

I know this is an older thread, and saw your new, much larger diamond. Wanted to find out the carat weight of your original engagement ring. :)
