My Long Awaited 2.56 Ct. Peachy Gray Diamond Upgrade :)

Here she is next to my 5.48 Imperial Topaz, which is also my birthstone. The setting is palladium 950.

I thought I''d post a pic of my current H. I used the larger channel set band on top of the e-ring to hold myself over until the upgrade. WHEW!!! I''m so glad the wait is over!!!

Sorry, I forgot to share the specs on my wedding set:

Top Band: 10 stone, 1 ctw H I1 (which I will upgrade to SI) channel set in palladium 950

Ering: 2.35 H SI2 set in platinum 950 with .36 ctw of G VS2 bead-set sidestones

Bottom Band: 1.50 ctw H SI2 eternity channel set in platinum 950. My original wedding ring was prong-set, but it wasn''t made very well....and it took a beating. So I had the stones reset in a channel band, which are sooooo much more durable.

For those of you considering palladium, I totally recommend it! It is so shiny that you cannot see the color of the metal, only the reflection of your skin. It also looks like platinum but a fraction of the cost

As someone new to colored diamonds, I am right there with her with being blown away. I did not expect for her to have so much character and color variations. I think it''s wonderful that your daughter is taking an interest in gemstones at an early age! I''ve had a fascination for gemstones, especially diamonds, since I was about her age too. Isn''t it amazing how you can be holding, on your finger, something that is a billions years old? And will continue to preserve itself long after we are gone?? Sorry, got a little carried away there

Wow, you took the words right out of my mouth. Some of the oldest rocks on the earth are diamonds, almost as old as the earth itself (billions of years old). Your stone is magnificent, I absolutely love it.

Tourmalinelover, thank you! It''s nice to know that someone shares my awe of diamonds. They are a true accidents of nature...they really aren''t supposed to happen. And the presence of color in diamonds are an even more rare occurence, because they are mutations. Everytime I pass by a jewelry counter, I always stop by to admire the diamonds. They have a certain sparkle and presence that are unlike any other. They are so mesmerizing, especially under the halogen lights!
Add to the fact that they are older than the rarest dinosaur fossils.

Your cleftless-heart orange diamond is amazing! I love the intensity and richness of the color. Orange will be my next search. Have you decided how you are going to set it?

Musey, thank you! Your wedding set is gorgeous!!! I looked up chameleon or "color change" diamonds, and they seem to occur in the gray-yellow-green variety. Most of the color change seems to revert between green and yellow. I don''t think mine falls in that category, but lighting does affect its hues.

Yes, I am very anxious...I just want her with me always. I''m still in the process of finalizing the head design with my jeweler. It should be another week or so. Then she''ll be off.
